- Winter Camping in a hammock.
First snow camp of the winter camping season! I opted for the hammock set up on this camp to stay off the uneven ground. Enjoy one of the best stouts I have ever tried from a local brewery and cook up some cheap but warm ramen.
Hope you enjoy and thanks for watching!

I’m excited for you to kick off the winter camping season ❄️❄️❄️ keep ‘em coming!
Thanks! 😁
Nicely done, bub! Best nights of sleep in my life! Glad it didn’t rain or snow on you without a tarp!!!!
I prefer camping out in the open when I can, but I always bring a guy line and tarp in case!
Thank you for sharing, that hammock looks warm and comfy ❤️.
Thanks for watching!
It is! I always get much better sleep in a hammock and the underquilt keeps me warm 😁
Getting out of that sleeping bag ... it takes a fair bit of motivation sometimes ! Nature's call has a way of doing it for me ! 😃 Nice video !
Hah, same here! Each time I debate if I should invest in a good top quilt.
Thanks for watching!
i have never used a fire disc like that. i like it
Thanks bud, I happened to have them both in my hand while packing and thought hey this could work!
Loved the winter scenery... very cool!
Thanks! Finally, some snow around here 😁
Love the video! Looks like a really simple and enjoyable camp.
Thanks for watching!
Honestly, I used to bring so much extra gear, I find I enjoy it more now when I bring just the basics.
W❤W! That’s Perfectly Awesome! Cheers!🥂❤️✨
Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching!
Awesome 🔥👌❤️🤘🍻💯
Thanks for watching!
I'm jealous. We are still snowless here. And did the underquilt keep you warm?
I'm hoping it doesn't melt in the next few days!
Yup, it's rated down to -5C/23F and from experience, I wouldn't test it below that. It was right above freezing that night.
Thanks for watching bud!
Nice camp out 😁
I always enjoy noodles😋
How many calories in that beer?
Yup! Noodles are definitely one of my staples in winters. As for calories in the beer, I have absolutely no clue, and I like to keep it that way 😅
@@CampfiresandColdBeers I was thinking that beer is probably lots of calories given it tastes like a peanut butter cup, lol😀
I'd guess anywhere between 200-300, just checked the can out of curiosity, but no info.
I like my liquid calories 😆
First - Enjoying your videos! As wood stoves goes, are you less likely to recommend the Toaks stove now of days or was this more of bad luck this outing? I'm thinking about getting one and I like the idea of nesting it with my Toaks pots. Thanks!
Appreciate it!
I have mixed feelings, I like toaks products and have been using them for a few years even before starting these videos.
I love the way it nests with the other cups and pots but always a little disappointed on how it actually works. My main complaint is that it's really hard to feed while using the top. If you're just looking to fill it well once and boil water, then it'll work great. Ash also tends to accumulate in the bottom if used for a while.
Overall, I don't regret buying it and it's fun to use. But a larger feeding port would be nice.
Sorry for the long reply. Someone also suggested trying charcoal, which I'm kind of interested in doing soon.
@@CampfiresandColdBeers Thanks for the detailed feedback! Appreciate you sharing your thoughts and experiences. Have a good one!!
🍻🍻🍻🍻
Canister stoves and alcohol have low temperature limits, but does that tiny stove take charcoal briquettes? I bought my Firebox Nano for its fuel flexibility and that is one of the options. It would give you a better burn than the frustrating nonsense that is twigs.
Never thought of using briquets! I feel like air flow is a problem with this model, but I'll give it a try next camp!
I've only heard good things about Firebox stoves, might have to pick one up one day.
Thanks for watching!
@CampfiresandColdBeers I watched a ton of stove videos on Paleo Hiker MD's channel before I picked that one. They are durable and flat pack. I live in California, and the Western US is basically under permanent burn ban at this point. I got the Trangia sticks, but like that you can get adapters for esbit tabs and use it with twigs, hardwood chips, or a single briquette. I figured as an emergency kit stove went, this was a good option since it is multi-fuel, folds flat, and can fit in a pocket in its X case. Hopefully charcoal will work for you, it will certainly give you a longer and less fussy burn time.
It sounds like a great option! Even in Eastern Canada, I expect a fire ban each year at this point.
@CampfiresandColdBeers *next* Black Friday I want an Ignik fire can. I was actually stuck WAY behind evacuation lines in a broken down minivan for the Thomas Fire which was, at the time, the biggest wildfire in recorded history in California (but has sadly since lost that record). I respect burn bans. It's going to be the way of so many parts of the US and Canada. It also means we have to get super clever with reflective materials in an emergency kit. I watch a bunch of the bushcraft channels and am really good at it, but it's definitely something to think about planning for an emergency when you know fire is probably off the table to help in a survival situation and water may be a non-option too.
