Oh, it definitely was. My concern was having too much water pooling up on the surface inside. It was awkward enough getting out of my snowpants without touching the floor 😅
Thanks! Another marketplace find from a few years ago 😁 The sleeping bag was basically new. The original owner wanted something smaller for backpacking!
See you after supper !
I'm going to check out the conditions tomorrow, if not it'll probably be on a kayak in a few weeks. Thanks for watching!
Thanks! The only style of tip up I'll use! Unfortunately, I went back out a week later and the ice was barely safe in some areas. Little too questionable for my taste. Might prep the kayak in the next few weeks.
@@CampfiresandColdBeers yes sir! I just got home and there was zero ice left on the lakes I passed coming home from the airport. Be some fly fishing sooner rather than later!
Love it. It's obviously incredibly bulky , but other than that, it's great. (Sorry, this is going to be a bit long) I actually bought it without ever intending to use it for ice fishing. It was my first "hot tent" set up. I removed one of the windows, used it as a template and cut out a piece of welding blanket for a stove jack. Paired the tent with a Princess Auto wood stove. The stove was too close to the tent wall, so I got a piece of car exhaust from Canadian Tire and a pipe expander (Mechanic here, so I did all this during "mon temps perdu"). Fit the pipe, cut and rewelded it at a 45 degree angle so the stove would be further from the side wall. It was great, I've used this tent dozens of times as a "hang out" spot with friends to stay out of the cold. Heated it with a wood stove, buddy heater and occasionally an electric heater if there was ever an outlet nearby. When the sun's out, a heater isn't even necessary sometimes. Looking back, I would suggest fitting one of those circular silicone diy stove jacks into the roof and consider an insulated version of the tent. It'll be noticeable once the sun is down.
Thanks for the video. I was nervous, though, about how the tip up's just stick in the snow. I feel like they'd topple over if you got a big one. The ice there sure doesn't sound as dense as the stuff here in Alberta. Love that little island. Did someone build a stone stove on it? How cool! Glad your pie heated up OK! Would have liked to see some morning shots on this one. It felt like it ended abruptly. See you on the next one.
I only tend to get perch or crappies with them, so far no issues with small fish like that. I do plan on replacing them soon, but might go for a full base version. Yeah, ice never fully froze in my area this year. The spots I went ice fishing last year, I could have gone out on a kayak in January and February! The island looks like it was used years ago. I'm kind of curious about finding some history behind it. I'll keep the morning shots in mind! I'm not much of a morning person, so I tend to put the cameras away at night. Wake up and pack out at my own pace. Thanks for watching!
Ice fishing looks soooo peaceful ☺️
It really is!
Wow,so peaceful and relaxing ❤️,Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Better luck next time with the fishing🎣
Great video, thank you. Really cool tent.
It is! I'm glad to see some brands are even starting to use the design for summer tents.
Thanks for watching!
Stay warm and stay safe😊😊
Pad and cot combo you really are sleeping good!
Yup! Thanks for watching
I think the ice is plenty thick for you to warm your food and add some heat to the tent

Great video, bub! Jealous y’all still have ice! Just got home from a week on the road and settling in to watch this. Loved those old style tip ups!!!
Thanks! The only style of tip up I'll use!

How do you like the tent ? I want to convert one of those those fishing shack to a hot tent someday ... And yes , a good cot is hard to beat ! 🙂
Tu vas avoir besoin d'un autre traîneau à la traîne de l'autre , t'a vu la grosseur de ces abris de pêche !
@bonpecheur4565 Yep ! mais je veut de l'espace pour la visite ! 😁
