- Elton John performing 'Can I Get A Witness' at Live Aid in front of 72,000 people in Wembley Stadium, London on the 13th July, 1985. The event was organised by Sir Bob Geldof, Midge Ure and Harvey Goldsmith to raise funds for the Ethiopian famine disaster. Broadcast across the world via one of the largest satellite link-ups of all time, the concerts were seen by around 40% of the global population.

Was Marvin Gaye, who died not long before these concerts, originally scheduled to appear in Live Aid? And if so, did Elton John do this as a replacement? I can't find any record of Elton John recording this before the concert.
I think Elton just liked the song. He did it at a bunch of his shows in 85/86.
It is exciting to see this but also frustrating as the two official videos of bryan adams have been made private I would love to see the rights deal made to release the full set on this UA-cam channel with the audio version of Tears are Not Enough used as uploaded by live aid video. I am autstic and a completist when it comes to major shows like this. Thanks for this upload.

@Ian Robert Turner They did? I mean I know they released My Generation as a full on film but so far only the audio and the tail end of Pinball Wizard from the MTV coverage has seen the light of day.

@@HarveyBacktheBeatles The entire BBC clip was available for about 10 years on the Live Aid Wizard channel here on UA-cam but appears to have been one of the dozens of their videos deleted in the initial mass copyright claim when the Band Aid Trust launched their own channel a few years back. Which is annoying as it's kind of fun watching them cut back to the direct live JFK feed complete with audience audibly chanting "Bullshit!" (something that MTV and ABC were probably careful not to broadcast)

You know it's kinda funny that sometimes I forget other people besides Queen preformed at Live Aid. Freddie and the guys really blew it out if the park that day. The other artists knew it too. I think it was actually Elton (coulda been someone else) that came up to Freddie after their set and said "How the Hell are we supposed to follow that?" A very hard task but there were still some that did pretty good for themselves.
