great video. thanks for all the trivia. cool stuff. I deliberately played BD before FC3 because I heard it is a bit stripped down version and I thought of it as a starter before a main course of FC3. I remember enjoying all those references that I could pick up. I like 80s. Still probably missed half of them.
Ah that's an interesting take. I've always seen it as like a pudding after the main course of FC3, but that's probably just because of the release order. I like your starter perspective though, and in fact I reckon you could expand it to BD being almost like a vertical slice of the entire Far Cry series, a little taster to let people see if they want to get stuck in to a fully-fledged experience.
Far Cry 4 is a great game in its own right. And you can look forward to the best weapons roaster still to this day in the Far Cry franchiese. A friend of mine was a couple of times in Malaysia. And he looooves the food there.
It would be a pretty place to live, but personally if I lived there I'd worry about farting in my sleep and attracting a nearby heard of blood dragons...
I think there's a bit more depth here than you give it credit for The increased speed and more compact arsenal along with the more open level design makes Blood Dragon one of the most interesting stealth-combat sandboxes out there. There's some WICKED shit you can get away with if you bend the game's rules a bit
The lack of fall damage contributes a lot to how good this game feels compared to base Farcry 3 I experimented a lot with Blood Dragon in particular because the Farcry compilation on Xbox360 was my first exposure to first person shooters Before that I mostly played gamecube, where the only shooters I really had were the first few Splinter Cell games
This is actually crazy. I've beaten this game three times on three diff systems. The whole time saying how much rex sounds like Kyle Reese. I literally just found out who voices Rex 😂😂😂😂
The thing is going well, almost done and then I'm in, I had expected to come face to face with my past more but it's great to see that I've grown and am now a different person only carrying some of the baggage of the past, without it controlling me. So all in al doing pretty well myself thanks; how about you? doing alright? Succes in the thing or perhaps a different experience than you had expected?
Glad you're nearly in and that you're in control of your baggage. Everything to me is different to how I expected, which I guess means it is exactly what I expected. Seriously though for a minute I thought your comment was some bot trying to sell wellness courses or something, until I realised what was going on. You're maybe the 2nd person to confirm you actually read that nonsense, so thank you!
@@borangedunn I’ll admit I usually don’t read them but I got curious. Glad things are still interesting and I’m here to keep you on your toes haha. Take care and have a good one
in response to the bit of text at 11:26 as an american we still spell "through" as "through" "thru" is just a shortening of it and as far as I know isn't limited to america
weird you havent heard of laserhawk yet, its the one where rayman becomes a drug lord in all the memes? i personally think its standard as far as such refrential video game shows, but yeah it has extremely little blood dragon DNA but it is filled to the brimm with ubisoft references. in short, i like it, i suggest it for a fellow ubisoft fan.
I felt the humour was a bit forced for my taste in this game. Still, it's my favourite Far Cry. Largely because of how short it is. I played Far Cry 3 before Blood Dragon, and my main takeaway was that FC3 was a dozen or so hours too long. Blood Dragon, acknowledging the hit & miss humour, doesn't overstay it's welcome. And I recall sprinting and fall damage being just right for empowered shooting action. Was fun to hear your thoughts on the game.
2:50 So... I would NOT call "Far Cry Blood Dragon" or "Far Cry Primal" a "DLC". They are a "Spin-Off" of the usual Far Cry games as both have nothing to do with the main game they are "spinning-off" off. You could call "Far Cry New Dawn" and "Far Cry 6 Lost Between Worlds" a "DLC" because they have a rudimentary connection to their main game story-wise, though I would still categorize them as "spin-off" rather then DLC. I know I am extremely nitpicky, but a DLC most of the time adds more stuff to the main game, like seen with that DLC for Elden Ring which adds a big new area to play through. 4:07 The number is in the title... because it is a Spin-off...
Just came to the comments to call you names as suggested in the video. Just kidding. This is the only FC I haven't played sans FC 6. Kinda no love for the newest games. Great videos btw.
To be fair, Ubi, do try a new flavour every so often. Look at Far Cry 5's DLC and 6's. The trouble tends to be that the story to those DLC's isn't really worth playing. The stories are meh, their smaller sandboxes, more restrictive and their weapons an after thought. While its true of the storyline, I'd say the best dlc they have done after blood dragon eas the Mars Attacks for FC5. And that's only because the weapons actually stand out. Its more a case that they try to be creative in a FC's DLC rather than the main game or an actual side launched game. I mean look at FC6, they have some dark and serious themes completely spoiled by thensyupidity of the main characters, thw home made guns/wrapons more akin to a kids game.
Dude, your videos are some of the best video essays I’ve ever seen. Similar to PatricianTV’s videos but a lot shorter so I can watch them in one sitting lol

I am here to call you names in the comment section, "Names." There, it is done and I look forward to the next video in July, but only time will tell.
Come on you could’ve at least called him Thomas or Peter or Marion
Well made video, excited to see thoughts on the other games, chill videos to unwind to and always interesting to hear perspectives on games

That's the problem, I'm not clever enough to think up game-bending tactics. It amazes me what people can dream up with limited tools.
