Hi harry its not too much talking. You can feel your enthusiasm coming out. This is just what im looking for. Im on that journey. Impulse impulse. Fantastic. Always suffered with weight shift. This makes it a lot easier to ingrain. Thanks harry
Hi Peter, really appreciate your comment, it's great to read that the 'too much talking' is helping you understand this move in more detail. Have you managed to give this a try at the range?
Hi @jerrybrouwer2494 pleased you've taken a look at this video and it's helped you improve, if there's anything you'd like me to post for future content, let me know by commenting on the latest upload.
Hi, thank you for your comment, appreciate your kind words and couldn’t be happier it’s already helping golfers! Excited to read back on here tomorrow to see how you get on from doing this, I would recommend you watching it again before going to try it so it’s locked in ready! Do let me know how it goes!
A very interesting concept Harry! My backswing weight has been to my right heel and on the downswing weight was then shifted to my left heel. This kind of goes along with your concept of "impulse' transfers; however, my results have not always been the same as yours. After viewing this video, I went into my exercise room and tried out your concept. On a very abbreviated swing It does work as you state in this video! Amazing! And, it's so easy. It's all that you propose it to be! Well Done Harry! I have found this video so informative that I am archiving it! Thanks Harry for this great Christmas present you have given your viewers! Merry Christmas!!!
Thank you John, pleased this video has helped you with your downswing and simplifying things for you. Great to note you’ve got your own indoor facility you can trial swing tips and work on your technique. Really means a lot so thank you, again for your continued support. Merry Christmas!
Hi Maureen, Thanks for commenting, I’m pleased this video has helped you learn how you can produce more power in the golf swing. Let me know how you get on after using this!
Hi Philip, Thanks for commenting, great to read you E enjoyed the video. Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to see on the channel to help you. Also let me know how it goes when trying this!
I must say this pressure impulse really does make sense and I haven’t really seen anyone else focusing on it. And believe me I’ve watched a lot of UA-cam videos !! Obviously I’ve seen how pros apply downward pressure and turn but it never occurred to me that pushing down on the lead foot and turning would pull the arms through.
Hi, I’m pleased you’ve been able to take some great notes from this video, yes the downswing concept, well wherever you look there’s always another method, and they’re all right, it’s just finding the one/ similar ones that suit your needs - and a lot of golfers will benefit from this because it’s how the body should work and create movement without forcing the movement to take place. The impulse is key. How’s your golf going?
I’ve been playing a year. I’m 60 but no issues with power or speed. I can literally play at around 10 handicap one day and 30 the next. My issue is controlling my natural tendency to try to get power with my arms. That is why your impulse video is good for me to use my lower body more.
Only a year and you can play as low as 10, that's remarkable. It's great you also understand your tendencies, which this video will certainly help. Let me know how it goes!
Thank you. Your impulse reminds me of Shawn Clement and perpetual motion. It has always made my knees work both ways. Only problem I find is on the through swing I can early extend too easily and top the ball as the ‘impulse’ is coming ‘up’.
I would suggest for the follow through adding more of a press before rotation. So if you’re a right handed player for example. You want to press even more using the left foot into the ground and then rotate. This should help limit the early extension and therefore stop you from topping your shots. If you’d like me to look at this in further detail I’m on Skillest (online coaching platform) so you can send me your swing on there to take a proper look.
Hi Paul, Thanks for commenting, yes that’s right, pleased you enjoyed the video. Is there anything you’d like to see on the channel that you’d like help with in your golf game?
Hi Jerry, if you are suffering from hitting out the toe it can be for several reasons, so rather than me sending a few video's to look at maybe we arrange a call to go over this issue and the next steps we can take to helping your strike the ball pure ready for the season. You can use the zoom booking link in my bio.
Coming from a guy (me) that’s been struggling with my takeaway, this move is magic. Always searching to find a way to activate my lower body more and this feeling is gold. Still having issues on the transition-left leg pushing into the ground. But have really only hit a few balls this far. Shorter slower swings makes it work better that’s for sure. New subscriber!!!
Thanks for commenting, pleased this feeling works great for you. It’s a totally different feel for the backswing but especially the downswing when you’re so used to positions. The transition is the tricky bit from backswing to downswing and that may be more of a trust factor than a swing fault. Trust it’ll work and allow the arms to do whatever. Thanks for subscribing, more content to come!
@@harryshawgolf thanks for the reply!! Totally excited to put the work in on this. Like I said saw some decent results playing today with only minimal time spent on this. Look forward to future content.
Hi, yes for fairway woods and hybrids, with the driver I would add a little more of an impulse both on the backswing but mainly for the transition into the downswing to help push upwards to hit more up on the ball.
Hi Terry, Thanks for commenting, pleased to read you found my coaching style (talking more) useful. It’s important viewers understand why they should make the changes and do the tips shown in videos otherwise it’s harder to trust the change will work. Let me know once you’ve given this a try!
Thanks Trevor, pleased to read you're enjoying the content, I've been posting on UA-cam for quite some time now. Hoping to reach as many golfers as I can this year to improve their golf. Spreading the word would be awesome. How's your golf going?
Can play to about 10 when playing well. But some days i forget what i am supposed to be doing. Tried to follow what you have posted and really please with the results. I will try to take this to the course and just swing steady.@@harryshawgolf
Nice, what are your goals handicap-wise by the end of the season? What would you like to play off? It's great you're pleased with the results from watching this video. Also, if you're struggling to take this to the course and see the results I'd be more than happy to arrange a zoom call to discuss how I can help you improve your golf and take this move to the course. If so use the links in the description.
The downswing impulse looks like shifting pressure to front foot, while in other video’s of your’s you say the first move in the downswing is to pressure down into both feet equally then push from the rear foot to the front foot as you rotate and extend up onto the front foot. Specifically you point out that not to much pressure should go into the front foot early, more 50/50 pressure into feet. Why do you explain it two different ways?
Great lesson. Very similar to how the Great Canadian Ball striker George Knudsen taught his method. He taught a weight transfer combined with his torso turning and NOT worrying about where his hands, arms & clubhead went that allowed inertia combined with centrifugal force work to square the club face to hit it a Great as he did. He said never do anything at the expense of balance. If balance can be maintained then consistency can be achieved. He also said don’t play golf to relax, rather relax to play Golf ,tension free!
Thats a very interesting method of George Knudsen's. This method and the goal of this video lesson certainly match. Is there anything else you'd like me to post on the channel to help you improve your golf?
The downswing impulse looks like shifting everything to your front foot ,while other video’s of your’s say the first move is to drop down into both feet not the front foot. Which is it?

Thank you for this. Using the force from the ground rather than thinking about the hips makes things much easier and smoother.
You’re welcome, pleased you’ve enjoyed the video and found it very useful. Let me know when you give this a try in action!
This is your best video. Just like Up and Down golf. Loved it.

Jack Nichlaus did a forward type press to initiate the backswing which was started with his lower legs as you are doing...thanks for a great lesson 😊
