Looking great! You're so lucky you have a room in the house you can devote to it. I have a big shed in the garden but oh boy is it cold this time of year! 🥶 All the best to you.
The Layout is an Absolute Credit to you, and The Inspiration and Value that you Bring to Our Hobby is Totally Outstanding and Second to None - Many Thanks for All your Efforts and Sharing them With Us All. Cheers 🍻
I think you may be a bit surprised by the effect adding backscenes will have to the layout. Space is always an issue unless you have the space and cash of people like Rod Stewart, Jools Holland or Pete Waterman! You have done an amazing job in a relatively short space of time. Seasons greetings to you and yours.
Well Bill, I've been following you for four years and enjoyed every one of your videos learnt a lot been intrigued with your enthusiasm for the hobby. Your layout from your original has been an inspirational insight into the imagination you process. There's still plenty to do, and understand that you don't really see yourself moving any further with creating another layout in 00. However, you can stand proud in what you have achieved it's a credit to you. Your patience in repairing and giving confidence to other modellers is above and beyond . Happy Christmas to you and yours ,Happy New year. I'm looking forward to the next four years 👍
You've built a very nice OO railway, lovely scene with the viaduct. Compromise is a constant in this hobby. Perhaps if you ever build another railway, maybe take a look at TT. It has the size advantage. As long as Hornby keeps making good new models, the scale will continue to grow. Take care. Felix
Hi Bill; wishing you a very happy Christmas and new year, hope you get the opportunity of taking some well earned time to yourself and family. The layout build is a true credit to you; the time and effort it takes to start and then pace yourself to the end. When time allows; especially when you offer the repair and service services; amongst all that there is the video editing. What you do is inspirational. The HSTs look great together; then the selection of locos and stock pacing around the layout. Looking forward to seeing the back drops in place. Love the end credits with the people from within your layout and your composed music. All the very best Marc from Leighton Buzzard
The layout is looking wonderful, I would not change it, or want to rip it all out not after all the time and money that you have spent on it. I really enjoy your repair and layout update videos,. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year!
You have a nack with your mountains as they look spot on. Bill. If you're in The Gnomes Legs Christmas day lunch, I'll buy you a wee dram. All the best to you and yours.
Hi Bill. A Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to you, Robbie, the gnomes and all the other characters that call your layout home. Thanks for all the joy, expertise and entertainment you've shared with us during 2024. Looking forward to more in 2025.
We;ill done Bill . The layout is looking great . The HST's are also looking good and running really well (following their expert servicing , of course ! ). Wishing you a happy Christmas and New Year for 2025 .
Nice One Bill, have a merry Christmas & a happy new year,I think your layout is smashing with the double track express trains & the branch line running simultaneously, you have done extremely well with having to compromise within the space of the room.
Layout looks great...so jealous. Have you considered adding lights (stations, carriages, etc) for night running in the dark? Hope you and your family have a great Christmas and a healthy, wealthy and happy 2025.
Jimmy Shand time..I always think of Jimmy the class 37 which rescued us when the 37 that was hauling the tea time Queen St to Fort William train failed at Busby in August 1989. Took about an hour to get to us from Eastfield. I loved the drama of course. Can't remember which loco was the failed one. Love those Highlander coaches, good livery those. Then there was the Mexican Bean, save that for another day! 😃😙
Hi Bill, Just a thought / idea on what would be a possibility on the backdrop next to the viaduct. Why not use the blue of the wall for sky and paint a few whispy clouds onto it and paint a darker blue across the bottom to look like sea. Even a small yellowish line at the very bottom to look like sand. Like I said, just a thought / idea. I'll leave it up to you. Merry Christmas and thanks for the great videos. Over the last nearly 3 years, I've learned a lot from you on servicing my own locos and have now managed to do 30 odd so far and all running much better after years of not running.
This video and all the others leading to this point, have been tremendous and most entertaining and informative there must be many, including myself, would love to have a go but sadly we don't have the room/space for it. There is already another site that I follow, who always said n gauge was not for him as with his hands that gave him trouble and it was too fiddly, now all of a sudden he is disposing of all of his 00 in favour of n gauge, but not only n gauge but Japanese n gauge. If you decide to have a go at 'n', please Bill if you do, don't forget us 00 enthusiasts. Anyway Bill, I do hope you and yours all have a very Happy Christmas and New Year 😂
I do like the new area and look forward to its completion. The trees will look great when finished but I think the backdrop is too narrow for what you need. Great running session and Happy Holidays to you and your family, Jersey Bill
Bill, you should be very proud of your layout, a superb railway. Nothing is perfect in life. I couldn't agree more with you regarding Christmas etc. A farce. Get get fed up with Xmas by the 2nd of September 😂😂
I do like that the layout isn’t just a simple oval of track Bill - it makes for some interesting in running. And I do love an HST or two. I hope Father Christmas brings you a bit of railwayama. Merry Christmas! New Years Eve down the Gnome’s Legs is it?
Hi Bill merry christmas to you and your family , thank you for your uploads they have certainly helped me out as a first time layout builder and in servicing the locosthat i have.......thank you
Nice update. As for backdrops I decided to try to paint my own. Pop along to the channel for a look it might be something you might want to consider doing it really wasn't as difficult as I initially thought although the results may not be to everyones taste. Your layout is really coming along and I will be interested in how you remove that point. Have a great Christmas and a wonderful New Year and see you in 2025.
The layout is looking really good Bill. Some Highland cows would be great on that new hill bit 👍. Thanks for the great repair video's you do and Merry Christmas.
At 4.45 where you're playing with the faulty point/point motor, you can see some movement in the ballast about two sleepers to the right of the tie-bar. I don't know if that's loose ballast, or a stray motor pin. Just thought I'd point it out in case it helps with your troubleshooting
Merry xmas bill the layout is looking good now its funny that you got hst 125 locomotives i found the video just .my hst locomitive came today i got off ebay for 13.95 with postaged .it didn t run until 5 mins after i got unpackaged put power to the motor nothing then saw one of the springs for carbon brushes was sticking out from the tab so just put it back under and i got motor running i just got sort wiring out as someone has put a switch into wireing so i got to get extra wire and put to one tab on the switch that hasn t got a wire and hope i can sort it out
Excellent update Bill. As I thought why don't you include a 009 branch line off of your existing 00 railway? Could have the best of both. Merry Christmas to you
Hi bill brilliant video layout looks amazing keep up the great work and videos , I like to wish you and your family a merry Christmas and a happy new year Bernard
Everything looks great. Do you follow the Terrain Tutor? Your scenery reminds me of his. I am trying to make the colours on my layout pop like they do on yours. Very impressive scenery. Nicely done. I have a couple of the old HSTs that I bought on ebay. Such brilliant trains.
The new hillside looks good - very Scottish moorland like. As for the backdrop, I'd say that's pretty Scottish too - maybe a bit too light grey rather than about to rain grey! ;-) Have a great Christmas. Cheers
Hi Bill, The one thing about model railways is that they are never finished. There is always something you want to do. ven if you do not have the space to do it in. anyway have a great Christmas and New year.
Bill, please can you make a video of you installing the backdrops - good luck with them. I tried all sorts of paste and glue and they are very difficult I thought. Look forward to how you get on !
I will certainly explain how I fitted them in a future layout update. I plan to try double sided tape rather than any sort of glue. I can see any liquid adhesive leading to disaster as it isn't wallpaper!
@oobill that's what I finished up with - double-sided tape onto 6mm plywood and then mounted the plywood to the walls using velcro so I could remove if necessary. Only problem is now the sun has shrunk the paper revealing a few gaps !! It was a two-handed job the wife helped. Good luck.
Not sure what you are seeing but nothing is misaligned. The pin has dropped and is nowhere to be seen. You'll see when I make the video on repairing it.
Looking great! You're so lucky you have a room in the house you can devote to it. I have a big shed in the garden but oh boy is it cold this time of year! 🥶 All the best to you.

Yes lights will be added once I get all of my main buildings in place. I plan to have station lighting, street lights, lights in buildings etc.

Your layout's lovely Bill. Merry Christmas !!
Great review of the layout merry christmas

Great video we all make regrets but is all good
Hi Bill
You have great layout keep the videos coming

The 'faulty' point is just misaligned - you can see the pin moving one sleeper to the right of the tiebar.
Not sure what you are seeing but nothing is misaligned. The pin has dropped and is nowhere to be seen. You'll see when I make the video on repairing it.
@@oobill I suspect what is being seen on the video is loose ballast moving as a result of vibration when the solenoid throws. It is just noticeable.
How's the stag deer getting on where's it place on your layout go 😃👍
Merry Christmas! Bill 🍷🍷
I like your class 67
Thanks for another great year Bill, enjoy your Xmas and new years, see you in 2025, Gooday from AUS 🇦🇺🦘🎄🎅
