Pretty inexcusable to have a word misspelled next to the same word spelled correctly.

The fact that it took a German to point out misspellings in the English language to Americans, speaks volumes for the state of the American educational system.
Biden…
The fact that you think Americans care enough to learn how to spell the names of people paid to play a game is amazing.
@@TruthFiction The word "Decision" is not a name of a person.
America is not a country.
no one is reading the "box score" on a statue... they should ban the German from USA for being goofy
In a world with autocorrect and people are still spelling stuff wrong. Pathetic.
It's actually why people misspell things more often now. People depend on things like autocorrect and a lot of people don't actually remember how to correctly spell common words anymore...
I agree. Autocorrect messes me up more then it helps.
Although While texting. I will start a word and just click it fully spelled above the keyboard.

It's a reflection of the current state of America's education.
Similarly, more and more people cannot tell the difference between "then" and "than".
No, it says nothing about education. The spelling errors are on the names of players. No school in the country wastes time teaching kids the names of adults being paid to play games. It says more about the people who watch those games that they couldn't figure out their idols names were misspelled.

Engraving company sends a proof to the customer. Customer proofs it, makes corrections if necessary. Company creates a second proof, sends to Lakers. Lakers make sure mistakes were corrected, tell engraving company to proceed. I've done this several times with cemetery headstones. These companies are very careless, you have to go over everything multiple times. They got my grandmother's birth year wrong and had to start over with a new stone.
These errors were made by the physical creator of the statue. The proofs were likely fine. Perhaps they were under a drug influence or something and thought they were fine.
You should not have to have a customer proofread basic words. The dates, stats and possibly names I can understand. The word Decision?
One of my relatives was supposed to have a sign that said "you will be missed dearly" and the company sent a proof that said "you will be missed barely"
My mothers headstone had her name spelled wrong!
Not the Kobe statue that LA wanted, but the Kobe statue that LA deserves, lol. BEAT LA, BEAT LA...

What errors? That’s how Kobe would’ve spelled it too. The company even hired a DEI person to make sure it would be authentic.
Kobe was very intelligent, and spoke fluently in multiple languages!
The jersey says Lakurs.
It’s just Ebonics
wait is it an error? Is the marble etching simply copying the error on the original scorecard? If the original scorecard is wrong then the statue is just copying for authenticity.
Which means they shouldn’t be in business making permanent statues.

1:55 The word "decision" is misspelled once. That news reporter can't spell either.
That's what I thought at first, but I watched that part again and confirmed that it's actually twice. The plaque lists at least two sets of two players who didn't play, and each time the word "decision" is misspelled once. Check the names adjacent to the misspelled "decisions" and you'll see what I mean.

First of all Kobe never liked the nickname "black mamba" Second, I think we're beyond the point of giving someone a nickname that's related to race. This is an insult. All the misspellings makes it even worse. This was all done intentionally. The statue was put up not to honor him, but to ridicule Kobe's memory and the City of Angels.
Question: did the score card contain these errors and that went unnoticed until the statue?
Could be true
Probably. The sculptor probably used a software to sculpt that box score and was too lazy to double check it and just uploaded the file.
Does the Lakers Organization hold some responsibility for not looking over the statue once delivered??
I like how people like you make a big deal out of something that will be fixed.@@lelanledoux21
You better believe the lakers got plenty of renderings of how the different parts of the statue would look. I make wooden sign and custom furniture. All my customers get 3d renderings of everything I make. Including the fonts and everything. Then that file is used to make the actual product. If me as a side hustle woodworker can give my customers a 3d file showing them everything, they should be able too. Anything like that would have a file for it and printing out examples of text and asking the customers to double check if they are happy with it and to check for any mistakes such as names which can be hard to get right is commonplace. Make no mistake about it. For it to get this far several lakers personal would have had to look at and approve these mistakes and the organization would have had several opportunities to change things before it was made. After it's made the timeline might not have given them time to fix it before the unveiling. Luckily it can be fixed which is why this company doesn't seem to care about their product as much as they should.@@lelanledoux21
It was most likely planned.
