Hey I was curious, is there any way to make different sections of the blade light up w/ different colors? It looks like its LED based, so every section could be independently programmed right?
Hi there, thanks for the awesome work! I finally got the reader/writer in the mail today, but after following instructions exactly (125hz, holding crystal up to the back in all sorts of spots and angles) I can't get it to read, write, or scan, all fail. Tried with two different crystals. Using it with AAA batters, not sure that would or should matter. There's also a stretchy flap on the back, presumably for holding RFID cards, noticed yours doesn't seem to have that. Any ideas on what I could be doing wrong or what to try? Thanks!
I just removed the screws holding the fabric in place, it won't affect the signal from reaching the reader. What I do when I'm reading/writing a crystal, is to move it around rolling it on the back of the reader within that box on the back. Try to roll it around on the back while pressing read on the device. Eventually once it reads it, you should just hold the crystal at the same angle to write it.
Do you know if there was any update on these? We just came back from Galaxy's Edge (January 2022) and the reader isn't picking it up. It's the same reader with the red interface that you have. It reads all other RFID but not the kyber crystals. Any thoughts? Help me Jandno, you're my only hope.
I have a new crystal I bought but it is not working. I know it could be bad hardware but has there been any information on if such issues could be software and fixable with an reader/writer?
After you used the tag to change the voice in the empty holocron, how do you get it to go back to the default voices: Bane in Sith or Kenobi in Jedi holocron? Do you just open and close the door again?
I have the same problem as Nick reported. I cannot read, write or scan. I just get xxx failure. I removed the stretchy flap and still no reading. I did program a blank disk successfully but not one of my four crystals. Can you show us where and how you hold the crystal to get a successful scan, read or more importantly write, Thanks.
This is something I am looking into doing because these are supposed to hold knowledge of the one who made it and I’m underwhelmed about the voice speaking silly phrases
I have a former Vader Crystal. Colourchanging works well and all the dark side voices but none of the light side voices work (instead there is the voice of the Emperor). Have you experienced something like that before? Is there a way to fix this? Btw thanks for your instructions here.
@@Thevoidcallsme Not without modification of the LED/internal electronics of the blade. Look up burbank makerspace on youtube, they have a tutorial on how to do that stuff.
Does this mean that they’ll eventually release official crystals for orange and teal in the future? And to actually activate the proper colors with those codes? Because that would be very nice. Come to think of it, I think this is for a tie in with Jedi Fallen Order, and they very well could be releasing a Legacy lightsaber for it for wave 2. Maybe they’ll make more other colors like black, lime and pink at some point in the future as well. I have no doubts that they’re willing to expand on their lightsaber lineup since it’s full of collectibles already. Anyways, I find it very interesting to see that it’s rather easy to change the codes themselves for what crystal corresponds to what color. I guess this means to look out for any fake Obsidian Snoke crystals though considering that all that they have to do is paint it in a solid black, lol. I mean it *can* be good for those who want to actually collect the crystals without having to fork over your efforts just to find one piece that barely makes a difference to begin with, and I think it’s great to know that this is all possible for the people who don’t want to collect them. Maybe they can even be used more practically if you have more than one lightsaber hilt and don’t want to buy the same color crystal yet again, although that might be pointless since the reader itself is more than double the price of a single crystal at the parks. Still though, it’s very cool to see how Disney does the process of adding in new colors and sounds, even if it’s not actually available to us yet since it still emits the existing colors at the moment. It’s a unique and in some instances practical discovery nonetheless.
There is already a black crystal that lights up as red. It would also be impossible for them to use the current software inside the crystals/saber to make other colors than orange and teal.
The data is stored on the holocrons/lightsabers. The crystal only stores 4 digits that tell the holocron/lightsaber what to output based on their database of available commands within.
By the way, I would recommend against buying on Ali Express, especially when buying electronics. I've received quite a few items that were dead on arrival (not to mention they take about 2 months to arrive) and when you try to dispute it, your only option is to return it, which will cost you several times more than the item. The individual sellers on there will not send you a free replacement and when you try to get Ali Express to remediate the dispute, they will not assist with broken items (only if you didn't receive the item). I prefer Amazon...at least you can return items there if they don't work.
Jandno I use an app on my old Motorola Droid Turbo, called NFC Tools, that says it can read and write to either NFC or RFID. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wakdev.wdnfc&hl=en
Jandno yeah, I understand that much....I meant what is the device doing. Like how does it chance the color/voice. What is an RFID basically LOL. To me, a complete ignorant to this subject, what you are doing is literal magic to me LOL.
@@robbie1110 basically the crystals have a chip that gives a number code to a device that uses radio waves to read like the one he has or the lightsabers. The lightsabers are programed to respond to the number codes with a certain color and sound font. the device that he used again uses radio waves to change the number code that the crystal will give. The sabers are program with like 10 codes that they will respond to. If you rewrite the crystals to one of those codes it will respond with the corresponding color and sound font.
This is gonna save me like 150$ thank you so much dude!!!
*Disney wants to know your location*
Could you change one to the red crystals so you can get Snoke phrases instead of hunting for the black crystal
Yep!

You would have to replace the LEDs with addressable LEDs. The ones inside the hilt are not addressable.

This is awesome, you can all the colors you want then it doesn't matter what name is programmed, you can just changer it. Thank you
Do you need any additional software to change the Kyber Crystals? I noticed the device comes with a USB cable.
Nope! The usb cable is optional for powering it. Else you can use a few AA batteries.
I have the same one, but it freezes very often. Don't know the reason? can I firmware it?

Are you holding the crystal like I am in the video? It can only read in one orientation.

I got the program thing right I reprogrammed the colour to black I forgot the code😐
Do you know if there is a way to make your own custom audio for it along with any color ?
Not unless you modify or change the board inside the holocron

Did you get it to work?
Also same issue...
@@MidgiiMC How long ago did you get your crystal? And did you get the scanner from the link I posted?
Same issue. Got reader from link, two crystals from Disney world in the first weekend of October.
@@paulmalbroughjr2254 Do you happen to have discord? I'd like to chat with you to see if we can get it to work.
Is it possible to add our own custom voices/sound fonts onto the kyber crystals for the holocron??
you'd have to add code to the board in the holocron. They crystal is just telling the board what audio to play they have them all saved on the HD

Yes

What's the best RFID to use, if you wanted to try making your own Kyber Crystal?
did you take down the link to where you got the RFID I see them on Amazon for $50
Yes, read the description, I explain why I took down the link.
Is there a way to make the kyber Crystal emit a tri color with the LEDs?
To make it so, that the core is black, the sides red?

Does this change the color of the blade in a lightsaber?
Yep! You can see that in the video published after this one.
Yes
Wait so you can write over the crystals that you buy at Disney?
Yep
This is essentially the modern day equivalent of Kyber crystal bleeding
So is data stored on the chip itself or on the motherboard of the Sabers and the Holocrons?
The data is stored on the holocrons/lightsabers. The crystal only stores 4 digits that tell the holocron/lightsaber what to output based on their database of available commands within.

Any idea how many times you can write over the rfid tag?
I have no clue, I've rewritten one of my galaxy's edge crystals at least 50 times though and it has yet to brick.
Do you need to have ashoka crystal to do this or just put the code into the device and place crystal onto it??????????????????
You can have any crystal to do this
You should have more subscribers
Lots of Android phones can do NFC tricks-I wonder if an app could be substituted for that reader/writer...
NFC and RFID are different, so phones cannot do this unfortunately

Changing the voice of the crystal which also changes the color in which the lightsaber blade would be.
