Excellent video as always. Thank you for making this. Answered all my questions particularly about different pairing combinations. I found the prospect of using a Proxmark3 pretty intimidating and overwhelming so I gave up! I wish we could still use the handheld RFID readers like we did with S1 crystals without locking them out.
Hi! I bought a "damaged" Sith Holocron from Cast Connection. I'm learning how this all works but I wanted to know, is it possible to overwrite or insert your own sound Mp3 files to replace the ones used by Disney? If not, I might just replace the internals with another board that plays what I want. Would you have an suggestions as to what board or software I could use that could still use the copper coils to activate the sounds but play the sounds I want to use?
I do not know of any way to add your own sounds to the holocrons. I know that the audio is stored on a flash memory chip inside the holocron. I have dumped its contents. I know the audio is encoded using a format that is proprietary to the company SONIX which makes one of the chips inside the holocron. If we had access to audio encoder software from SONIX then perhaps there'd be a way, but as far as I can tell such software is kept internal to the company or only given to trusted partners (i.e. it's not available for download on the internet). Replacing the hardware is possible, but it wouldn't be easy. Something like an Arduino Uno, Nano, or similar type development board would work. There's an Arduino library called ADCTouch which could be used to manage the touch buttons. The mp3 playback could be handled with a module like DFPlayer that you could hookup to the arduino board. For the RFID detection, there are a couple Arduino-friendly RFID modules that might work. You can search eBay and amazon for "arduino" and "125khz" and you should find one. Wiring it all up and getting it to fit inside the holocron should be doable, but it may be a tight fit. And of course you'd have to write the code to tie everything together. Possible, but it'd require a bit of work and probably $30 in hardware.
Is there a reason the quotes play in a random order on all holocrons but the Wayfinder’s quotes play sequentially in a loop? Is there a way to force holocrons to play all the quotes in sequence?
Good afternoon. Thank you for your videos is a very helpful channel. Question I just bought a BB 9E in Disney but for it to work the RC has to be very closed to the BB 9E. This is normal or it may be a problem with the control or BB antenna? Thank you.
@@camachoski maybe 30 feet with direct line of sight is normal. if you need to be closer it could be weak batteries. try changing the batteries in the remote first. if it's still a problem, try changing batteries in the droid.
@@camachoski you can try contacting Disney at merchandise.guest.services@disneyparks.com and tell them about the problem. they may be able to send you a replacement droid.
it can. you would set the data in address 9, which holds the ID for the series 2 voice, to all zeroes. then program it like a series 1 crystal for the voice you want.
Ok, two part question. Can you reprogram a v2 with a new address 9 AND new address 6. Also, could your reprogram a v1 crystal with both an address 9 options and a NEW address 6 option. Ideal, if this is possible, you could make your own combo that would play your choice voice in series 1 holocron, then a different (but still your choice) voice in series 2 holocron

Can a series 2 crystal be programmed with series 1 voices or only with other series 2 voices?
