The best show I have ever seen. I really don't think there will ever be a show that will be able to top it. It broke me in a way I have never considered possible. I stand in awe of the team behind every second of the series. Love you guys.

its was so powerful .. how one day they are friends, next enemy...Rupert Friend's role I feel was the best. He did such a fantastic job . But I agree , I don't think it can be topped. They had some talk about having a season 9 and not having Carrie in it. with how they world is today they could tell so many political and spy plots , just as Rupert, Brody died , Homeland could continue.. I think Saul will have to be there though.. who knows ...Criminal minds came back after 1 yr down so I have my fingers crossed!!

Homeland is just too great. I mean too great. I watch 8 season in 7 days, literally only stop for sleep. The tough choice to make the job done, helpless and unapologize of Carrie Mathison is just make me obsessed. A lot of the event of the show is just giving me "Just life, it is what it is" feeling, which make the character so human. Really great!!! Is the only thing I can say

17:12 Brody's story is tragic ... He was a Marine who was destroyed and rebuilt by the enemy to be defeated repeatedly. Pushed back and to another place. His loyalty was to whoever gave him the best chance to survive. He never had a chance. No one can judge you by the horrors you endured. And also the ones he caused. Having to live and observe the lives he destroyed around him took everything away from him. Carrie hoped to find redemption for him. Brody knew his destiny was to die. In her last moments, she made a point of being there. To witness this, its truth, its history when it finally came to an end.
Saul agreed to kill Brody when they thought he had turned around again. After completing the mission, Saul fulfilled his promise and immediately organized the escape plan. Dar Adal and Senator Lockhart betrayed Saul and canceled the rescue plan because they wanted Brody to be found and executed so that Javadi was chosen to influence Iran's leadership. Furthermore, they thought the mission was too risky.
And due to his history, he cannot be honored ... His story was so sad! He deserved better - Brody made a mistake.
He's not a terrorist. He is a person with a broken spirit. They broke his mind, yes, now he too was a victim of "fate" or fatality.
Nicholas Brody are Dorothy's 3 companions: he lost his heart with the death of Issa (Tin Man), he lost his mind (after 8 years of torture and brainwash) and he lost his soul with his actions (Leo).
It broke your soul. He fell in love with Carrie Mathison, who was on his way to redemption.

I will NEVER forget the hopes of Brody & Carrie - it's so tragic that he had to die - his character was pulled in so many directions which ultimately lead to his death. He had enough. Even Carri's love could not save him. And Quinn - if only Carrie had called him earlier than she did - he left thinking that she rejected him - but she didn't - she just took too long to decide and look what happens to Quinn. Beautiful Quinn.

“I guess” cz of these great actors in Homeland, actually all of them, these great writers, creators, director & everyone involved behind the scenes always have had new ideas to go on with show for another seasons after Brodys death. & I even think in a way the door is still open for them to go beyond season 8. Focusing on the last msg sent from Carrie to Saul saying “stay tuned” is an open door for these great writers to create a season every year. With this type of very talented actors, fantastic writers, amazing director, Homeland can go on forever. Great job. God bless u all.

I binge-watched Homeland about 5 years ago - and I am rewatching it again. It's too interesting to not go on to the next episode. I have caught the details more in the 2nd watching, and if something confuses me (like season 6) I read about it - and it becomes clearer.
I think this is the best series that i have ever seen - it's so enlightening - each season tells a story in itself!!! I know what's going to happen, but I had forgotten all the details that have now become so interesting to me!!! I have to understand it completely before moving on...I wish there were more shows like this - I won't be binge-watching after this - for at least 5 years but I will again when the urge hits me.
Great writing, great acting, I feel like I know these people !!! I already know what happens at the very end, and all I can remember is my thinking is - it was brilliant!

38:10 Homeland s5e1 Quinn tells it like it is in Syria... I think whoever writes homeland knows the TRUTH.
Perhaps the most accurate assessment of the situation ever uttered....and it's a TV show, no less. If a politician ever read those lines in front of a camera, he'd be assured of reelection for the foreseeable future. Wow. Just wow.
First, if you followed the show, Quinn mentioned pounding the ISIS stronghold. The eventual real-life successful operation against the terrorist group's capital was, as correctly perceived by Quinn's assessment, demonstrably not achieved by special forces operations; rather, the Battle of Raqqa (2017) that obliterated ISIS's territorial aspirations did indeed involve considerable aerial and artillery bombardment that leveled 80% of Raqqa.
They looked very clueless when Quinn finished giving them the smack down full of common sense.😅
The ideology survives. Every time we kill a terrorist two other appear. It’s in their culture.
This scene is amazing, We need Quinn to make this happen... hit reset again!
Showtime needs to write and deliver Quinn Prequel Missions. Explore the character's background, further reveal Dar Adal's off the book hitmen. The house where Quinn had flashbacks to, in New York with the diner nearby. SHOWTIME--if you want to excite the fans with a jolt, NEW QUINN MATERIAL.

I watched the first three seasons, as they aired. I kind of forgot about the show after that. People were telling me that it had “jumped the shark” after the second season. About 2 months ago, I started binge watching again from the beginning. I just finished it tonight. I gotta say, they were wrong. I really enjoyed every season. The character Carrie Mathison was fantastic. She was so flawed yet so relentless in her fight to save America. Saul was soft spoken yet ruthless. They were both pathological liars but they truly cared about each other. The main theme, for me, was always “does the end justify the means?” For most people, I think the answer would be no, but I think we’d all be fools if we didn’t acknowledge that we need people (heroes) who answer that question with a resounding YES!!

  • @KRAKOA889

Out of all the badass spies I have seen over the years Peter Quinn is the most realistic one! I would have liked to see if Carrie would meet her match in Quinn. There were some romantic sparks between Peter and Carrie over the years, and there was the letter he left for her when he was leaving on a dangerous mission, the photo of her she found among his things after his death. Why do you think the romance between them never fully developed?
Because the writers weren’t interested in developing a romance between them... Unfortunately
The 3rd season did not correspond to the 1st and 2nd as it should be.
Compared to most seasons it was weak, as the plot and plot issues that were overlooked or addressed briefly stood out in season 3. There was no "hunting" in Brody's scenes earlier in the season to make it look like he really was desired NOS.
Where Roya Hammad and his terrorist partner M.M. They were?
We never received an explanation for the events surrounding how Brody's car was moved and his involvement, only what we got was the "real" author of the bomb at the CIA in a hotel that we must believe to be a super leap that changed the script. For such an investment in storytelling around Brody's family over the past 3 seasons, for him to just disappear the way he did, it was a waste of time - to make Dana's story worse, it was shallow. And all those scenes about Mike and Brody's wife continually in love with each other, and just ending up in season three were useless - and Brody's son disappeared. What about Brody's marine friends who thought he was part of the conspiracy? And Quinn's underutilization throughout the season after being instrumental in the beginning of the second season's premiere.
All positive points, they should have made the homeland a show of this 3rd season and address every possible plot!
Claire Danes and Damian Lewis gave us, in Damian’s words, “two broken-winged birds sort of hobbling and circling around each other” in Carrie and Brody in such a compelling way that even though it really ended in tears, it was a GREAT RIDE as long as it lasted. And if you miss these two as much as we do, you may want to re-live the LOVE with Carrie and Brody: Was It Love? YES.
Homeland had a sensible ending, closed all of Carrie's stories, while continuing the ongoing story of America's and Russia's rivalry. The series ends, but does not end, only better than that was seeing all these years incredible performances by Davis, Damian Lewis, Rupert Friend and Mandy Patinkin ...
Brody and Quinn... I loved both of them. Both inspiring and very human, dealing with their struggles. Actually the whole series is full of so interesting characters... Quinn’s ending was heartbreaking, and so raw...
I hated that he died, the show was not the same without him, something was missing, the stor ended unfinished

23:35 Definitely we want spin-off from Saul Berenson 1980's during the Cold War Producers Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon please hear us ::)
Simply great writing and acting. Reminds me a little of the movie BREACH … about Soviet Spy/American FBI Supervisor Robert Hanssen. The FBI tracker team closing in on Hanssen led by FBI Supervisor played by Laura Linney explains to her "plant" played by Ryan Phillippe, the full scope of how evil and treasonous Hanssen is - when Phillippe begins liking Hanssen and can't believe he's a traitor … She lays out the body count, the wrecked projects, the botched investigations.
"Eric O'Neill (Phillipe): What if he's smarter than I am?
Kate Burroughs (Linney): A couple of years ago, the bureau put together a task force. Lots of assets had been disappearing. So this task force was formed to find the mole who was giving them up. Our best analysts poring over data for years looking for the guy, and they could never quite find him. Guess who was put in charge of the task force? He was smarter than all of us. Actually, I can live with that part. It's the idea that my entire career has been a waste of time, that's the part I hate. Everything I've done since I got to this office, everything we've all been paid to do, he was undoing it. We all coulda just stayed home. " - and the person who previously led that task force ….. ROBERT HANSSEN. Yep .. another "now what" moment ..

The Americans was very well written spy drama as well and to not compliment the writers and actors of that series is short sited. It would be nice eventually for Claire Daines to watch it and speak to Kerri Russell on actors to actors and compliment her on her work. They were both childhood actors and they both are brilliant and being it same type of drama would pay dividends to her career in the long run , befriending other actors who do similar work if not for kindness, then for career strategy procurement

Of course, the Carrie x Yevgeny "relationship" is problematic, now do you think he is toxic? Because?
Compared to the other relationships (Brody, Quinn, Jonas), platonic or not, Carrie had - in my humble opinion - YES.
I can't really say who Carrie really loved. Maybe it was Brody, now their relationship was a dream all the time, not real, they literally stayed together for a maximum of 10 days, there was a glow between them, now it all started with a lie, her doing her job, not a real relationship with many lies - only in the final three chapters of S2 and that he showed true sincerity for her. In S8, it is much worse it was with Yevgeny, the series ends with her lying to him, doing her job, not a real and honest relationship. The only relationship Carrie had was Quinn, no lies, no secrets, no acting, now they are never together as a couple, they have chemistry throughout the show. And she never told him that she loved him, so I think Carrie loved herself and her job ... and Saul.

We can say that Carrie/Saul one of the best-built characters in history - alongside Dar Adal, Brody and Quinn. It would be possible to clarify the following doubts:
    - I would like to see Homeland reveal how the CIA explained Brody in Iran and his death to the American press. Clearly, Javadi being able to take credit for capturing Brody helped his cause in Iran, but did the US government reveal Brody's role in Akbari's murder?
Was his name cleared for the CIA attack?
I'd love to know what you thought.
    - Another loose thread: Paul Franklin and the murder of the "real" CIA bomber. You just did that ... why ??
Carrie was publicly humiliated, beaten, doped, shot and put her life on the line countless times without hesitation, just to make others see Brody as she saw him ... and succeeded. Abu Nazir, the CIA, Jessica and the show's own audience, no one came close to seeing Brody with the clarity Carrie has always seen. Carrie has always read Brody like no one else.
Ah, Carrie's dialogue with Javadi was awesome, it will be one of the most memorable moments of the series, without a doubt!
"And what you wanted, which was for everyone to see in him what you see. That has happened. Everyone sees him through your eyes now ..."
    - How did Carrie see Brody? and how did the US come to see it? It's the world?

I don't buy the premise of the finale - spoiler
    ALERT
I absolutely didn't buy Carrie as a mole, and her "redemption" for the things she has done.
Carrie establishes herself as the new top asset for USA in Russia, being a girlfriend to a high-ranking GRU officer.Supposedly, the viewer should also keep in mind that she has proven herself again and again to Russians as a loyal asset/tool, hence it should be plausible that Carrie would have some space to work with in Russia, replacing the loss of a previous mole - GRU translator.
Why I think it is absolutely not the case:
Yevgeny demonstrated time and time again that although charming, he is a cold, calculating and extremely professional spy, expert at manipulation. I don't think Yevgeny will ever as much as mutter a word of really valuable information in front of Carrie, let alone he will not have any valuable documents lying around the apartment.
Russians at this level of the government are notoriously paranoid, and Carrie is not visiting GRU or other important facilities or people in her lifetime, at the very best, she will be under constant surveillance for the rest of her life.
The contents of her book are not revealed, but it would be naive to presume that it didn't go through Russian censorship, with her in Moscow there is not a chance in hell that they would let her publish something damaging to Russia and not damaging to USA/CIA.
As I see it, at the very best, they could leak/feed her fake information to cause damage to USA or simply waste resources at the very best.
She already went through hell in a Russian prison-asylum, if she did not reveal everything then, she is certain to be squeezed for the remaining important information on CIA using other, perhaps, soft measures over the course of her life in Moscow.
That's why the note she passed to Saul about S400 military equipment does not make any sense to me whatsoever. The previous mole, the translator, was a unique case. She was Russian herself, she "ran herself" from the beginning, she was working with top GRU officials on the daily basis, she worked in GRU building and was accompanying GRU officers on their missions. Plenty of opportunities to gather intel.
In contrast, Carrie sits at home with Yevgeny as her handler/lover/
torturer and writes a book, supposedly with the contents of which are pre-censored by the the Kremlin.
She wasn’t getting info from Yevgeny nor is she visiting the GRU. We aren't supposed to believe she's got access to anything (Yvgeny documents or internal info), she's just running things herself, secretly, dangerously. Whether she'd be able to do that under Yvgeny's nose for long...
She got the info from the woman at the opera house, that’s what the purse switch was about. And it took her 2 years to get to that point. And she still had to covertly organize that operation with the woman at the opera house. She had 2 years to figure it out - Well, that’s why she recruited assets for the CIA for some 20 years and you didn’t 🤷🏽‍♀️
Double agent is just a bonus and would indeed be extremely hazardous but thats Carrie’s MO - livin on the edge
I loved almost all seasons of Homeland, the finale was beautiful and emotional, but from a rational perspective it does not make any sense to me whatsoever.
