Uverse Internet (which they've just rebranded to AT&T Internet) was kind of a transition between traditional DSL (much further distance over the existing telephone copper lines) and Fiber. The quality of the copper lines from your house to their side is going to determine the max speeds for DSL and Uverse (VDSL). I've had it on and off for years and when it first came out I had the triple play (TV, Internet, and. Phone). They were the only ones approved for telephone alarm lines and faxes because the VOIP was going directly back to the AT&T Network Operations Center and didn't have to travel over the "internet". These days they mostly only offer the Internet and phone part, but they're still using the same modem/router as before. That Coax line is actually a MOCA port. You could plug the Uverse TV boxes into your existing coax runs OR the LAN ports. When the connection is good, it's a solid experience. My neighbors a block away finally got fiber, but still not on our block yet!

You actually don’t need to connect the ethernet if you use Wi-Fi but I directly wired my computer to the system, but that’s up to you. The tower itself sends out a signal. You can look on the side of it. It tells you your network name and the password for any device, so you don’t have to use a wire connection but you do have to connect it from the AT&T port. Good luck thanks for watching.
@@davidjamesqc You can plug in devices like PCs, laptops, TVs, etc to your gateway via an ethernet cable. It is preferred over wifi as ethernet is more stable and reliable. However, you can use wifi if your devices are too far away and can't run a cable. The red ONT port, to my knowledge, is only used if you have AT&T Fiber internet. You would plug an ethernet cable from your ONT (optical network terminal) to the gateway. The ONT is where the fiber from AT&T comes in and is 'handed off' as an ethernet connection to your gateway. If you don't have fiber internet, this doesn't apply to you.
So glad to run across this helpful video! Do I need to do any kind of ISP stuff to the AT&T modem? Can I just plug my home CAT6 ethernet cable into the AT&T Arris BGW210 modem? My plan is to mesh my internet system.

They are putting fiber optics in our city but have not built the infrastructure into her area my Internet is like dial-up it’s so bad I only get 30 MB and on an upload I get five it’s ridiculous I’m thinking about buying Starlink but that’s much more expensive thanks for watching
AT&T currently has a 5 year fiber buildout plan which realistically is going to take a lot longer. Anything 7-100 meg is already partial fiber (fttn). The company is a little behind where it should be because the last CEO tried to transform At&t into an entertainment company.
If you don’t have a computer you still have your Wi-Fi so other devices like your phone your TV iPads will recognize the net work and you’ll still be able to connect to the Wi-Fi on those devices because this is a router modem so on the one side which is the left side you’re going to see the name of the network and they’ll be a password and that’s all you have to do is look at the device in Wi-Fi pick that network and then put in that password and you’ll be good thanks for watching

I have this exact Internet and it's so sensitive like if the power goes out we have to call at&t to come and fix it.
We just got AT&T fiber optics and it’s 1000% better. If you get a chance to get that installed, you’ll be very happy with it.
Do these work for gaming console though or just PC
I would imagine that it would work the only problem is with AT&T you don’t get very good upload speeds unless you’re in an area where they’ve already laid out the fiber optic cable if you have that than your golden good luck thanks for watching
It will work with pretty much any network device that uses ethernet or wifi.
Lol love your video hate at&t
I know right thanks for watching
What can I do when my Broadband 1 turns Red? I'm not sure what's happening, but it's not letting me use the Internet when it's red.
If you have a red light that means that you do not have a connection so you may have to call your cable provider thanks for watching
@@TomLeeman Oh alright thank you
Do i need a computer? To install my internet?
Nope all you need is your router and you’re good
What if I do have a phone connector but the broadband light wont turn on green. It turns red but its all connected. I dont know what to doo! At&t customer service sucks ass. Totally regret getting this device. I cant get help nowhere
I have the same problem at AT&T is here right now and it’s from the line they may have to check the feed coming into the house on the pole that’s what the guy is doing right now he’s up on the ladder so it’s out on the pole coming into the house or you may need a new router
Just reset your modem router on the the red button it will work again it does that sometimes red means the service is down
Where do the ethernet and broadband cords go to? I am confused
@@TomLeeman so broadband goes into the wall? And ethernet goes into a device? maybe that’s why my router went dead
Does the DSL have to be connected
Yes it Hass to be connected otherwise you will not have Internet or Wi-Fi thanks for watching
Yeah I'm going with Comcast fuck this LOL
Oh yeah it was helpful forgot about that my apologies
So glad to run across this helpful video! Do I need to do any kind of ISP stuff to the AT&T modem? Can I just plug my home CAT6 ethernet cable into the AT&T Arris BGW210 modem? My plan is to mesh my internet system.
These router modem gateways are usually plug and play and should work good luck thanks for watching
I did everything exactly as you did but it still won’t work is there something I’m doing wrong ?
You can try unplugging everything and then plugging it back in it takes about 15 minutes for the tower to come on and work you should see all green lights good luck thanks for writing
I need help. What if my cable only connects to ONT broadband.
Been trying to re connect my wif all day
If it has a WPS button it should work
Excellent! Thanks!
My pleasure thank you for watching
Lol what do you mean “AT&T hasn’t figured stuff out yet” at 2:43? AT&T has owned a copper pair network for a hundred years. What else would they run their internet over?
They are putting fiber optics in our city but have not built the infrastructure into her area my Internet is like dial-up it’s so bad I only get 30 MB and on an upload I get five it’s ridiculous I’m thinking about buying Starlink but that’s much more expensive thanks for watching
AT&T currently has a 5 year fiber buildout plan which realistically is going to take a lot longer. Anything 7-100 meg is already partial fiber (fttn). The company is a little behind where it should be because the last CEO tried to transform At&t into an entertainment company.
That bigger one that you plugged into the computer, would that go to a TV also? I guess I just need to go look 🤦🏻♂️ haha
I just use Wi-Fi for the TV
What do I do if I don’t have a computer?
If you don’t have a computer you still have your Wi-Fi so other devices like your phone your TV iPads will recognize the net work and you’ll still be able to connect to the Wi-Fi on those devices because this is a router modem so on the one side which is the left side you’re going to see the name of the network and they’ll be a password and that’s all you have to do is look at the device in Wi-Fi pick that network and then put in that password and you’ll be good thanks for watching
Where do I get a new dsl broadband cable.
You can buy one at the AT&T store or probably purchase one on Amazon good luck thanks for watching
Megabits upload? That's pretty good
Actually AT&T is not that good but it’s only thing we can get
@@TomLeeman I have CenturyLink DSL. It's horrible. Have tried the LTE internet services, even with an external antenna. Have not tried satellite, but won't due to research. Heart goes out.
Thank you for sharing!
You’re welcome enjoy your Internet
My service hasn’t been working so my broadband keeps going red and blinking what can I do to fix it?
Unplug the power button for about a minute then plug it back in and let it reset good luck thanks for watching
@@TomLeeman thank you
Im still trynna fix thiss
switching back to ATT, an xfinity overcapacity node is worse than slow speed and you cant do anything about it. never again
It’s a shame we only have two companies to pick from. They just don’t care about their customers.
Wait still phone line ???? WTF att??? Third world countries have fiber optic now days. Wow.
AT&T is the worst but they’re also the most used we don’t really have a lot of choices good luck thanks for watching
AT&T does have fiber internet in some areas of the country, but they really don't want to install fiber anymore. They seem to be more focused on 5G. Sucks for those of us who don't have fiber internet.
Thanks
You are welcome. Enjoy your Internet.
It’s an Ethernet cable not a lan line
Thanks for the tips and thanks for watching
Thank YOU!!🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
You are welcome thank you for watching
I dont have the green wire. They never gave me one.
Its a standard phone cable. Nothing special about it. You can buy any phone cable (rj-11) at any store that sells consumer electronics.
That’s an ethernet wire you can get one online from Amazon or get one from AT&T
Wow that was helpful
Glad I could help enjoy your new Internet system
What if I don’t got phone line
AT&T would have to install your DSL line for you you’ll have to contact them and tell them you don’t have anyway to connect good luck thanks for watching
I need to return this box I was duped by an AT&T salesperson at fuckin Costco he led me to believe I was getting a better deal.
AT&T is a culture of deceit yeah just can’t trust him good luck thanks for watching
Make sure you have proof that you returned it to an actual AT&T store (not a reseller). If they're like Comcast, they may claim you never returned it (even if you did) and will try to bill you for something you did return.
@@JJFlores197 I think I fucked up lol
I know one thing I'm sick and tired of my Wi-Fi at home Shutting the Wi-Fi connection off while it's still on... Over the last 2 years but over the last 6 months even worse all they do is turn your Wi-Fi Box on and off on and off on and off on and off on and off... It's not anything to do with the equipment it's actually spectrum and Other Internet Companies.. And there is a method to their madness themselves
Many of the service providers have been caught throttling down the bandwidth at certain times during the day there apart of a duopoly were there just isn’t competition just maybe two companies that do you have to choose from but star link in T-Mobile will be changing that with their new systems that you can purchase and they’re only 50 bucks a month and work pretty good good luck thanks for watching
Time to replace the router
DSL sucks man I pay for 100mbps just to average 35 mbps ☹️ wish fiber was available in my area
You can say that again they’re putting fiber in here but it hasn’t gotten to our street yet so I’m crossing my fingers good luck thanks for watching
DO NOT use AT&T you will not be able to cancel without spending a ton of time and hassle.
Yes I’ve sat on the phone for hours with these goofballs they are a pain in the butt thanks for watching
oh I did not know about AT&T...I spent 4 hours to connect internet and was stressful time when technician raning around my home looking for some access slot. Also do not like why the modem has a camer? for what that camera inside?
Is this theTom Leeman of kiteboarding fame ?
Yes it is!
asking for a faster speed? go buy a house located where internet services are fast lol if you got that speed probably your location sucks simple
You are so correct AT&T and Comcast both horrible service our house was built in the 70s and the infrastructure runs through the backyards of our block and they won’t come in and update the wire so I’m kind of stuck with this but I tried the T-Mobile tower works fairly good but it’s too spotty for the whole house thanks for watching
This isnt working
Unplug everything wait about a minute or two then plug it all back in and it takes about 10 minutes for it to boot up wait until all the lights turned green and then you should be good to go
i get 0.6 mbps upload
Yes, AT&T is the worst
@@TomLeeman after 8 hours and nothing working.. i finally got the new motem to work. for anyone having the same problem, disconnect it from whatever data cable you ran and get a shorter one. (25 ft max) bring it to your data box thing, plug THAT in, put your wifi box right next to the data box, and it'll work. dont fw it while its loading, might break it
@@hudsk1s excellent tip. Thanks and enjoy your Wi-Fi.
Worst wi-fi ever
Tell me about it. I hate AT&T but I’m stuck with it for now. I have tried T-Mobile. It works OK but doesn’t reach the whole house. Good luck thanks for watching.
Way to slow way to sloooowwww
Snails pace it’s like dial-up thanks for watching
I enjoyed the content it was helpful.
No he’s not slow he’s very informative & i appreciate it
To much talking
I’ll try to keep it to a minimum
Too much taking bro
I’ll try scaling it down there
Drawnnnnnn out video
I usually try to make him short to the point but this one was a little right now I will admit thank you for watching
You talk too much! Just get straight to the point damn!
Thanks for the notes and thanks for watching
This guy is boring !!!!!!
Thanks for the notes and thanks for watching
This is the shittiest router I’ve ever used. AT&T is awful where I live.
I concur. Thank you for watching.
