    Everyone is going crazy that they copied the iPhone, but no one minded them (and Huawei) copying HTC.
    Note: They actually didn't copy the iPhone, the design is taken from their sister company Oppo, which copied the iPhone for the Oppo R11.

    So sick and tired of people condemning the OP5... It's a fast, near-stock phone that doesn't need, the extra features that other ($650+) phones have. While I understand the argument that it looks strikingly similar, albeit far from exactly the same, to the iPhone 7+, and that it's camera does not live up to the hype, these features, like water resistance and a Quad HD, are definitely not essential, even in 2017.

    • @gaurabghosh6670
      @gaurabghosh6670 7 років тому +8

      OnePlus marketing this phone as what it is actually not . benchmark cheating, jelly effect, false 2x zoom, very inconsistent photos, no dxo scores at launch although it was bragging working with dxo,(now score is out though much later) .this things are the problem. false marketing is problem. that's why op5 is a fail.

    • @propersod2390
      @propersod2390 7 років тому +7

      John Nguyen Don't say that water resistant and quad HD is not a needed feature in 2017. It is really useful if you are a person that buys a phone and uses it for the next few years as after that much time, the phone won't feel outdated. I bought the s8+ as it has so many features it will probably hold up until 2021 without any problem ;)

    • @vanhanguyen12
      @vanhanguyen12 7 років тому +11

      You make very good points, especially regarding the camera. Objectively however, it's hard to consider the device a "fail" considering it's still one of the fastest, if not the fastest, phones on the market, it's software and build quality are excellent, and, despite it's price increase, is still cheaper than all other smartphones with comparable specs.

    • @vanhanguyen12
      @vanhanguyen12 7 років тому +3

      Haha sorry, that was a little bias of me to say; I personally have a Nexus 5 that I've been rocking for almost 4 years now. While the camera is definitely dated, custom roms have greatly helped my device feel snappy and smooth. Considering the community support for past OP devices, the OP5 will also likely benefit from this.

    I generally love the OP5, have major no complaints, not bothered about water proof, not bothered about more than 1080, not bothered about the fingerprint reader not being on the back, prefer it on the front where I don't have to pick the phone up to unlock it.
    Coming from a Nexus 5 and pure stock Android my 3 biggest gripes about OxygenOS are 1) no automatic rules for do not disturb (I can't adjust the slider in the morning if I'm still sleeping can I!), there's no excuse either as 3rd party LineageOS have implemented automatic rules for the 3T where during set times it will override the alert slider 2) there is no timer for front (selfie) camera and 3) no "owner info" in security settings for "in case of emergency" purposes.
    Yes, they all night sound very trivial and small issues, but all 3 very useful and it's only when they are taken away so you miss them.

    You can't take shot in the pool with your iphone 7 or samsung 8 + either. They aren't made to be used under camera, the water resistance is there to protect it if you drop it into water, which the one plus 5 seem to also have from reviews.

    Honestly I think the most underrated parts of Oneplus phones is the software. I went from a OP1 to a Galaxy S7 and over time Samsung's skin over Android STILL bogs down the whole thing so much that, whereas the OP1 never slowed down for me, the GS7 has now lost a lot of the the speed and fluidity that was part of the reason I got it in the first place.

  • @babyboie20
    @babyboie20 7 років тому +3

    Crazy how you feel someone shouldn't expect features because they want more reasonably priced phone... Before this class of phone, low price with top end specs, one would say the same about expecting 8GB of ram ect. ...but isn't that what made this class of phone possible people always had a feeling that they were paying more for a name rather than just features, i.e. old iPhone vs. Android debate. People do expect more and I'm happy OnePlus did too and decided to test that.
    Still nice vid so thumbs up, ijs.

    I just found that increasing the animation speed on the OP5 makes the jelly scrolling barely noticable. Just me probably but I dont notice it

  • @shanez1215
    @shanez1215 7 років тому

    OnePlus mounted the screen upside down because they planned to use the same screen present in the 3/3t to keep manufacturing costs down since they have limited resources, which is fine with me since the 3t had an excellent screen. The problem was that the new camera setup required the screen ribbon connector to be moved, meaning the screen must be changed and new parts ordered. So, they flipped the screen upside down and then are inverting it through software. The jelly effect is a side-effect.

  • @waxsta
    @waxsta 7 років тому +2

I'm using OPO since 3 years and I went through heavy stormy rains with my phone and it still works great without a glitch, my friends has sony z5+ which can take under water shots but they never did becoz they don't trust this feature, so waterproof is not a big deal breaker

    But the thing is even though your content is good I'll strongly suggest you to make a point on the screen like separating the pros and cons with some transaction on the video or at least show some words on the video
    Instead of that, you keep on talking without even a break. Hard to Follow you.
    Attach some subtitles to the videos coz your content are excellence so make it understandable for everyone

    My current disappointments (although quite nitpicky) are:
    1. The vibration only mode is confusing to get to and the vibrations are very very weak
    2. My old LG G4 somehow takes better pictures than my OP5...
    3. Why is the volume and power button opposite of each other??
    4. Dash charger is short
    5. Speaker is in a bad position (extremely easy to cover) and quite quiet, although I do like the large range of volume

  • @SorinVasilescu

    The aperture size in F numbers is the ratio between the opening and the focal length of the lens. So it's totally natural that telephoto lenses have smaller apertures than wide angle lenses and very difficult to have telephoto lenses with big apertures. Anybody that has any experience with DSLR lenses or even compact cameras with optical zoom should totally expect that you can't use it well in low light.

    What's so bad about the jelly scrolling effect? Like OnePlus said it literally is just an illusion played on the eyes by the device displaying the content through an inverted screen. It's most likely be unnoticeable after weeks to months of constant usage of that phone.
    Besides its not like it affects the performance, resolution, or cause burn-in or anything...

    I agree, the OnePlus 5 dual camera doesn't match up with the hype, but it's better than the iPhone 7+ (IMO). EIS is reporting coming to 4K video capture in a software update, so just have patience.
    OnePlus 5 has a brilliant Optic AMOLED 1080p display. I guarantee you, you wouldn't know the difference unless you held it up next to an S8/S8+ or Nexus 6P or something. So a 1080p display isn't a big deal AT ALL, especially if its one of the best 1080p displays.
    As for the "jelly scrolling effect"...I like it!! OnePlus shouldve either, said it was intentional to invert the display panel so you could have a cool scrolling effect while reading. OR just admitted they made a mistake and didn't see the consequences (they are a young, growing smartphone company and every company makes mistakes. *cough S8 cough finger cough print cough sensor*)... But I think it's very cool!

An SD card does you no good of you lose your phone or it gets stolen. Get Google Photos and Play Music guys. Problem solved. And the front fingerprint scanner is a great feature. Can't wait to see how my new OnePlus 5 treats me as time goes on.

    On my op5 One more problem is that, the audio video is not syncing on UA-cam rest apps like mxplayer is ok, after a reboot it works fine but after few minutes or hours later on UA-cam, the same problems rises again. For proper sync u have to reboot again n again. It's frustrating.!

    The biggest negative (a deal breaker for me) is that you can only quick charge with the one plus included cable and block.
    I use a 5-port USB wall charger (with quick charge capability in one port). It gives a longer cord extension to access my devices while charging and allows me to charge multiple devices simultaneously. The other ports charge up to 2A speeds.
    The one plus will only charge with 1A speeds no matter which port you use. It takes hours to charge. At least offer the ability to charge at 2A speeds with a 3rd party charger.
    The LG g6 is roughly the same price and Imo is a better phone. It is water resistant with a better screen (less bezel) and can use quick charge for 3rd party. It has a much better camera too and has always on display.

      Useful comments. What is the 0-60% charge time @ 1A? Also what peak temperature does it get? This makes it sound unuseable to charge on a car charger while navigating and GPS on, unless it's a Dash Charger, right?

    • @h1a8
      @h1a8 7 років тому

      Stephen McInerney
      It's painfully slow. From 0 to 60% in over an hour.
      Yup no dash charging in the car. At least One plus could have done was allow 2A charging. No proprietary fees for that.

    I would probably go with a 3T over the 5 TBH. The jelly scroll really bugs me, and at the price it's reaching it's not far off something like a Galaxy or the LG V20.
    I'm very happy with my Gs8+ though. Coming from a Oneplus One, it's so much nicer to use.

    i disagree with " buyers in dis segment not wanting to expect high-end features" whats the production cost of top tier flagships anyway? Dese companies try to rip off the common customer as much as dey can.

    4K recording will not always be shaky. They are working on stabilization for it. Also, the telephoto lens is not meant to be for low light. Neither is the one on the iPhone 7. And 128 gb is plenty of space for a phone lol. You can’t take photos underwater with a Samsung or iPhone 7 either. Water resistance is an over hyped feature and it’s one of the first places I would cut costs compared to say an s8

    • @shanez1215
      @shanez1215 7 років тому +1

      Joseph Harvey Water resistance is pointless with exposed ports since you only get fresh water protection.
      Also, they don't even stand behind their product by insuring against water resistance. One bad seal and your phone is toast

    Looks like a great phone. If the android side of things keeps these coming I might just have to switch back. Although the only androids I've ever used are that galaxy phones and I have noticed they're lightning fast at first, and after a year or two they slow down more and more :(. Can't comment on whether or not that happens with other devices.

    People may be sick and tired of people complaining but it is not because this isn't a great little phone, it's because this isn't a real upgrade. With a few mainly cosmetic changes, they are selling us virtually the same phone for more money. True it has a slightly faster SoC, but the dual cameras are overrated. There is no OIS and quite often your shots are blurry. There is virtually no performance difference between 8 and 6GB ram. Everything else is exactly the same. Same display, same storage options, and same colors. I can do most of the things with a three, that I can with the five and right now you can get a mint black 3T, 128GB storage with OIS for $100 less than what they are asking for new OP5. This phone should be called the 3T+.

    • @c2thaj2tha71
      @c2thaj2tha71 7 років тому

      Jim McNevin LOL I actually agree. If you have a OnePlus 3 or 3T the OnePlus 5 ain't worth it. Besides you'll get the Oxygen OS updates and even Android O! Unless your phone breaks, stay put till the OnePlus 6.
      It's kinda like when the Pixel phones came out...not a big upgrade from the Nexus 6P.

    i don't mind any of the cons because i am into gaming and only taking pictures in day and 64 is enough for me .my all datas are in my laptop so if i have to change my phone then i can just transfer from my laptop. i have watched other videos and it is splash proof which is enough for me cause i dont go near a big water so splash proof is enough. i dont need 4k cause it takes up storage.so 1080p with stABILIZATION is enough for me
