Wow, great video, It really caught your nervousness in the first half of the video. Some of the footage was awesome, especially when showing off your exposure.
Been watching you guys for many years - since your first A6000 review. I don't normally get anxiety watching this stuff, but if either of you get seriously injured, you are fked. I hope you will rethink your risk tolerance. Youthful invincibility is a myth that you quickly come to realize if you spend any time in an ER. As I have always told my kids: "It's too late when it's too late.". Adventure and risk is not a bad thing - within limits. We want to continuing to watch your adventures for many more years.
Hey Don. Thanks for the comment and concern! Of course we’re aware of the risk and we carry a satellite SOS device in case something happens. But it’s kind of one of those things where we love it so much that it’s worth the risk. Out there we feel truly alive and like we’re squeezing every ounce out of this short existence as we can. The mountains are beautiful and peaceful and are a reminder that UA-cam, and cell phones, and jobs and money and all of it is really unimportant in the grand scheme. I’d much rather die at the base of a mountain than in the drivers seat of my car. We’re doing what we can to remain safe - and sometimes we probably make it look a little more dangerous than it actually is because this is show business here on UA-cam - but at the end of the day it is dangerous and something could happen. If the point of life is solely to live as long as you can, that sounds like a bit of a drag to me. None of us will make it out of this one no matter how safe we are. When this topic comes up I’m reminded of this quote from a poem I love “Flowering branches grow naturally, some short, some long”. Thanks for being here, thanks for your concern, and we appreciate your continued support. 🙏🏼
@@codyandvictoria Agreed life is better lived when to its fullest. And it is also worth living long enough to squeeze every last drop of juice out of it. As with all things in life, balance is important. I was young once and and felt all the same things you have described about living for the moment. It's only after many years, when you can look back with the benefit of hindsight that you will truly appreciate that a lifetime of wonderful experiences is worth foregoing extreme risks sometime. There isn't a single adrenaline rush of my lifetime (and I had plenty) that I would trade for the moment my wife and I renewed our wedding vows in a small, 1000 year old church in the heart of Florence, Italy. You guys seem great together. You clearly know what you are doing. Just make sure you stay safe and healthy enough to have your 30 year moment. Looking forward to your next adventure. Stay safe.
Dear Cody & Victoria...Thank you for such a beautiful video....The Dana Plateau is a favorite area of mine....The Sky Pilots looked beautiful...how lucky you saw some. How is your sweet Hazel doing?...I love seeing her in your adventures..Thank you for sharing all this beauty
Nice one you guys! As a local to the area and long time Sierra climber I have a few suggestions and really refreshing observation. On third pillar I was interested to see that you didn't leave the pack and your shoes on the top and just descend with the rack/ rope and some water and climb up to your pack. Which then leads me to the pack, see if you can't find a way to leave it in a strategic location that you will return to after the climb, ie. Mt. Goode, I think you'll find it nice to ditch the pack, or at least one smaller pack if you must. Both of you clip shoes to your harness and take a lighter version of that Nalgene for water each. One other thing that you may or may not like, but we started ditching a biner off of each alpine sling and wearing them bandolier style, since every cam has a biner anyways no need to have an extra just hanging there when you extend them, plus since they are bandolier style they are on belay while you clip them to th piece.... Very refreshing to see you using the rope to clip in at the anchor and not having another useless daisy or pas system.... light is right! nice work, a few of my favorites
Hey hey. Cool suggestions. Keep in mind we’re carrying a full sized camera + spare batteries + other things that most climbers don’t have to carry 😅 otherwise we would totally ditch the backpack! Also wouldn’t want to do that descent in our rock shoes which is why we harnessed the shoes. Curious about the alpine slings though!
Beautiful as always. I love the sierra. Thank you for sharing all of your amazing trips. Im trying to find a fairly short mile backpacking trip with my 70 year old father. Any recommendations? He can handle the sierra trails, just not too many miles
Do yall use a preset color grading package in your video editing or custom color grade each shot? It’s really beautiful. Amazing job (on the climb and vid) and so well produced.
As Hemingway said, there are only three sports: car racing, bull fighting and alpine climbing. I'm glad you are finally doing sports ;)
😂😂 very appropriate
New favorite video by you guys! Incredible stuff. Looking forward to more alpine climbing content....!
Yooo! Really appreciate that. 🙌🏼 Trying some new things and hoping to keep improving the edits. Stoked to be out there 🏔️
the dedication you put into these videos is amazing ❤

My wife and I got so excited when we saw y’all posted!!!
Haha took a small break I suppose 😅
yes! Alpine season in the Eastern Sierras is my favorite!

So much respect and admiration for you guys!!!
🙏🏼
You are correct...nothing like the Sierra in the summer! What a video, and a great series of climbs.
It’s the best place. So beautiful out there. The flowers. The weather. Can’t beat it!
4 hours and then that climb... You guys crushed it!
And then another 3 hours back to the car 🥵 it was great to push it though!
My favorite part of rock climbing is the monochrome outfits we all wear! I’m team blue
Right on guys. That was so awesome. Great job filming it to. Much love from Lake Tahoe.
OK, how cool are you guys! Such epic climbs and views. You're crushing it!
Idk if we’re that cool but hopefully the videos are good 🤣🤣

C'mon, respond to this one C n V.
So f bad ass!!!! 💜🤙🌄🪻🫂🌈
El Capitan next… great videos and growth.
Next year maybe 🤔 👀
Awesome video guys, as always. Cody, do you have prints on your website of your climbing summits?
I don’t but that’s a great idea 💡
@@codyandvictoria I will definitely buy a few if/when you do. Just throwing that out there!
Southern NM...3 hour approach is standard for our Desert Alpine mountains LOL
I'm curious what is the latest camera gear you use? The non gopro looks like a fast zoom lens and it is soooooo good.
Using the Sony A7cii with 20-70 and 16-50 📸
Do yall use a preset color grading package in your video editing or custom color grade each shot? It’s really beautiful. Amazing job (on the climb and vid) and so well produced.
I start with a preset and then tweak each clip individually
The gopro mounts on your helmets are glued on? Is it double sided tape or glue? Cool vid btw, the footage is great!
The GoPro mounts come in the box with a sticky tape pre-attached so you just stick it on.
@@codyandvictoria And it looks like it's held up altho I dunno how long you've had them on there for.
@@Gadgetmawombo Its incredibly strong
Gotta ask...how are you guys doing 10 mile hikes wearing the rope over your shoulders?? You must have grooves cut into them by the end of the day?
Idk honestly it’s not so bad
Great video, but I wish my kids would do something less sketchy, like i dont know. Sky diving, scuba dive with great white sharks.
I was just talking to my friend, trying to convince him that we need to climb the third pillar
Recommend!!
Do dark star or sun ribbon arete next!!
Dark star is on the list!
Whit diameter rope and length do you guys use on the alpine climbs?
We’re using the Beal Opera 8.5. It’s 70m which is probably overkill but has been nice for linking pitches.
No chest harness ?
No…? Is that normal? Haha
How do you earn enough money to do this full time from 200k?
Amazing sponsors. A minimalist lifestyle. The occasional side hustle.
This video has to be the biggest overusage of the word "alpine" ever 🥴
Oh no! Thanks for watching
