I'm living in Ukraine and just did a livestream yesterday showing what is happening in Kyiv (Kiev) the capital city. In general, the western media has overplayed what the immediate danger of the situation looks like. I'm glad our soldiers are prepared for the worse, but in reality as of current, life goes on as normal as it has since 2014-2015.
True, Johnny, we just tired of fear. So, we leave as always, but no one would be surprised if invasion really happened. You can say people are ready for this since 2014.
Maybe referendums should be considered by Ukraine government for those regions most likely to want to join Russia? surely better to lose some territory than having quasi civil war there? It would be harder and harder for Putin/Russia to justify invasions (if that's his actual intention) the further west they go.
So you are waiting until the armed forces will walk down the streets of Kyiv to believe that there is danger. Nice plan. But in that case it will be too late.
That's all extremelly sad. You raise your kids to bury you, not the other way around. War instigators should fight their own wars and just let people live their lives in peace

As of today it's total war in Ukraine. I thought of the young men in this video that I watched just a couple weeks ago. And it really struck me these guys were on the front lines when the Russian heavy armor rolled across the boarder. I have so much respect for them...I hope they're safe tonight.
I also thought about them today as I saw this video a couple weeks ago and thought highly about their bravery. I really wonder what condition there in. Specially the main soldier in the video. I worry for all of these guys

This is madness. I’m American and my heart bleeds for all the Ukrainians who have to go through this. The average working man in East/West Ukraine, Russia, United States is basically the same. We all put on boots and work for our families. We love to laugh and play games. Shame on the politicians who force these injustices on us. Edit: To all those asking if my heart bleeds for other countries: it does. I hate seeing innocent people (who me and my family have more in common with than any US politician) get fucked over by foreign policies that benefit only 1% of 1%. The US and world governments have blood on their hands.
Not only russian politicians to blame, not only Putin, but almost all the russian people wants to shed a blood. While normal people trying to empathize with the losses, the Russians, on the contrary - are happy n excited that the war may start.

Losing someone this young is a tragedy, but losing someone this young due to a war that makes no sense is even worse. I cannot imagine what these people are going through and I just hope that it ends sooner rather than later.
Makes no sense right? Say this to the minoritys whom are opressed by Ukraine ,the land where they live was just given to a foreign country with stupidly drawn borders, they want change. Dont forget this conflict is not just evil bad Russia attacked an inocent country, its a civil war with rebels.
I visited my city Sumy, Ukraine for 3 months this past October.. Life goes on as usual, but the 1 thing I noticed many young soldiers arrive home in uniforms from training all over Ukraine. All I can say Ukraine is ready to protect itself from any further russian invasion. In Southeast Ukraine occupied regions (Luhansk and Donetsk) that's where the fighting is.. Ukraine is more united than ever before and we have 42 million people.
Ukraine has been dealing with Russia for years and it’s sad to know how many people have died because of it. I hope that one day this will all be over and Ukraine can have its peace.
Question: It has never happened in history. There has never been talk of sanctions against the Foreign Minister and the President. This is beyond the pale. Look at what is happening with our diplomats against this backdrop. Yesterday our Ambassador to the United States said that ultimately this might lead to something close to severing relations. As Anatoly Antonov said, our diplomats are simply being expelled although this is presented in a somewhat different way. What should we do? How will it look? Sergey Lavrov: This is a multilayered question. I will start with the main point: What will we do if the West does not listen to reason? The President of Russia has already said what. If our attempts to come to terms on mutually acceptable principles of ensuring security in Europe fail to produce the desired result, we will take response measures. Asked directly what these measures might be, he said: they could come in all shapes and sizes. He will make decisions based on the proposals submitted by our military. Naturally, other departments will also take part in drafting these proposals. Now the interdepartmental analysis of the responses received from the US and NATO is underway. Practically everyone knows what these responses are. I have made some remarks. I will note in passing that the American response is all but a model of diplomatic manners compared to NATO’s document. NATO sent us such an ideologically motivated answer, it is so permeated with its exceptional role and special mission that I even felt a bit embarrassed for whoever wrote these texts. Our reply will be prepared. The proposals contained in our reply will be reported to the President of Russia and he will make a decision. We are developing our line at this point, including the steps that I mentioned. As for the threats of imposing sanctions, the Americans were told, including during the presidential meeting, that the package you have just mentioned, the one that includes completely cutting off Russia from the West-controlled financial and economic systems, will be equivalent to severing relations. This was said directly. I believe they understand this. I don’t think this is in anyone’s interests.

It’s important to understand that this situation is just a small piece of a much larger picture. It’s not just about Russia and the Ukraine, it has far reaching ramifications for dozens of countries currently providing logistical, political, monetary and materiel support to the factions involved. If Russia is able to force the Ukraine into a “partnership” (for lack of a better word), it could cause a domino effect in the region, destabilizing other former Soviet states and threatening their sovereignty as well. Obviously Russia doesn’t want the Ukraine and other former Soviet states to continue strengthening their ties to “The West” and Putin clearly wants to continue reeling in the territories lost when the USSR collapsed at the end of the Cold War in 1991. Geopolitical chess is always a dangerous game and this is no exception. I apologize for the lengthy comment, but I barely scratched the surface in regard to the complexity of the situation and I truly feel it is important for people to understand as much as possible about what’s happening there.
Very true. And not just in the ex-commbloc regions. If this was successful, we could potentially see a more aggressive China taking advantage of the momentum as well. Ukraine used to be a more "neutral" buffer between russia and NATO forces. Their lean towards NATO may have triggered something big and potentially world changing.

That doesn't make any sense though. Obviously I know its an exaggeration, but putting the generals into a bout with each other to fight to the death to solve the situation doesn't actually solve the situation. Most wars are fought quite literally BECAUSE one side cannot, and will not accept any diplomatic concessions regardless of whether or not those concessions are something the the country could even accept, so at the end of the day, you still have to have the losing side ACCEPT that they lost and just simply hand-over whatever that concession might be that they were willing to go to war for before. Wars aren't fought for no reason. To put it in its most simple terms, wars are fought because one side has something (whether that be a recourse or an ideal) that the other country either wants for themselves, or wants the country to get rid of. If, after the bout between the generals, a diplomatic concession needed to be made, they would have done that in the first place and not have gone through any trouble.

@@angrydingus5256 Y'all say this every time a war happens. I remember when the Iranian General was killed everyone was calling for ww3. It ain't gonna happen especially during these times.
@@braeden816 I mean, okay maybe we won't call it WWIII. But this is already happening. The US, The Brittish, Canada, And Germany are already boots on the ground at the border. Now yeah, those are the same major forces that were in Afghanistan and Iraq as well, but they weren't a global power that could be a serious threat to our militaries. Russia broke the Nato-Russia contract that essentially paused the cold war when they invaded Ukraine back in 2014. Shots are being traded back and forth right now as we talk about it. If Putin goes ahead with the full scale invasion he has been posturing for, it's going to be a long ugly war... regardless of what we call it.
Don’t give Ukraine weapons and Russia has an easy time overrunning the country. Give them the weapons and Russia sees it as a provocation. Well it seems that Russia wants it their way no matter what. Better to give ukraine what it needs to defend itself then let Russia dictate future terms.
pretty certain the goal is to fund ukraine so that russia can use any opportunity to acquire it. this also allows the focus on china to subside. so that china can do whatever they want too
Something in the human of me breaks my heart to see how people can be so cruel, especially to each other. Wars are so unnecessary and it brings nothing good to our lives.
It's funny that the US occupied Iraq, Syria, Libya,... it was called human rights reasons but Russia occupied Ukraine called it aggression, this standard is difficult to understand.
So you see, human rights / terrorism is entirely different to a direct conflict between two countries, in Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, we went in during civil wars to fight terrorism, hence the War on Terror, the only comparable thing here is the invasion of Iraq in 2003, that was to topple a dictator under the threat that "Iraq has WMDs" which was never confirmed. However theres still a difference, Iraq was a tolitarian dictatorship who did have human rights violations, Russia and Ukraine don't, they are both functioning countries with governments, and unlike the US with occupying, Russia is seeking to **annex** Ukrainian territory.
The whole situation looks surreal. Many Russians have relatives in Ukraine, many more (like me) have roots there. My great grandparents are Ukrainian and they spilled blood and died protecting their land in WW2. Along with Russians, Belarusians, Georgians and many other people from across the USSR. I have always wanted to visit Kyiv but now I am not sure it will be possible in the foreseeable future. Even if it is physically possible I do not want to have this feeling of guilt when looking in the eyes of Ukrainians even though I understand that this is not my fault. It breaks my heart when I think of all the suffering that the people of the USSR had to go through in the past 100 years. Millions of Ukrainians died in Holodomor, tens of millions of USSR citizens perished in WW2 protecting their country and the future of their children, millions more died in Gulags and Siberian labor camps, then with the collapse of the USSR came the poverty and havoc of the 90s with two Chechen wars. 5 years later there is a war with Georgia, then 6 years later a war with Ukraine, then bloody protests in Belarus and once again we are on the brink of another, much more dangerous war. Politicians will never suffer from bloodshed and sanctions. It is always the mere people that suffer most just trying to survive and feed their children. It is also a sad realization that Russia and Ukraine will never become friends again. Co-existing for hundreds of years since the creation of Kievan Rus they have finally broken up by the hand of bloodthirsty corrupted dictators.
Funny how you mention Holodomor, but you dont mention the fascist Ukranians that helped the Nazis, dont you remember the Massacres of Poles in Volhynia? Shut your hypocrital mouth. Ukranians have a long record of being horrible people too, this is about NOW, not Holodomor or past wars, all of this could be avoided if NATO stopped expanding into the East, is fucking common sense, it is the exact same than the missile crisis on Cuba.
I hope the west will do a better job supporting Ukraine in the future. There are many businesses that could be moved from Russia and China to the Ukraine where they would be appreciated. Bless you, and bless Ukraine.

The Russian PEOPLE are fine, the government is another question.

@@KristianDabeski Why should Ukraine back out when Russia illegally annexed crimea
@@Zman201 what?? The people of crimea wanted this, in history it was a part of russia
@@KristianDabeski it's still Ukrainian territory
It's funny that the US occupied Iraq, Syria, Libya,... it was called human rights reasons but Russia occupied Ukraine called it aggression, this standard is difficult to understand.
I don't remember us annexing any of those countries. When did we add them as US states???
One bloodthirsty dictator. We do democracy here in Ukraine, probably the only place in the post-USSR space tho.
You can likely throw some blame on greedy, corrupt western interests as well.
Slava Bandera!

I'm so proud of my army and will be always thankful them for the fighting and better future for Ukraine.

There shouldn't be no wars in this age. Politics are ruining people's lives.
I desagree a from your point of view.
I think that politics and politicians are just a reflect of the society where they where born and rised. And of course, a reflect of the societies they lead. Politicians are not ruining peoples life's, society is.
You don't get a corrupt goverment in a "honest" society. You don't get a war if the people of both countries don't want it and are willing to do what it takes to stop it.
In this particular case, a conflict between two very different societies (West and Russia) who's ego stops them from finding a comon ground.
It's not politicians, it's the societies who elect and/or support this kind of politicians, and their policies.
