  • I've been asked multiple times how to create a fireplace with a chimney and how to create a floor opening so that the stairs can come up through the second floor.
If you've wondered how to create these areas, then this video is for you! I also show how to add lower and upper cabinets plus a tiled entry area using a simple tool in Sketch.

Great, succinct reference for areas and blocks, thanks! I've started using the blocks as well to represent columns on porches and sometimes just if I need a visual representation of supports for a balcony. I haven't found a way to make them round, but for my uses that's not critical. Blocks are also nice for bathtubs/hottubs and areas make good showers. I always appreciate your work!
Edit: I've noticed that sometimes if you're trying to drag an area/block to a wall it insists on having a buffer, whether it's near a corner or not. Any idea what it's complaining about? One thing X1 needs is error messages.

Can you use the measurements from blocks to calculate for materials. Like brick for fireplaces or tile for countertops. ?

Well done!! Only issue with this is that in the final PDF report, Xactimate doesn't print it in the nice colors, what a shame! Imagine how amazing we could make these reports look if it would show such?
