This video is a full walkthrough of how to create an estimate in the newest version of Xactimate: Version X1. I start from the very beginning of the process by showing how to create a new Project and what Profile to use when opening a new estimate.
I also go over best practices for downloading price lists, how to Sketch a simple room with a door and window and how to build a small list of line items. I show how to finish the process by creating a pdf of the estimate in the new Documents section of Version X1.

@@RomanMan-ii5sh hey there, dude I was super excited and freshly licensed. I was unprepared for the 70 claims they slapped on me for Day 2, I had to create a wordtrack, learn ECS (SF interface) practically on my own (utilized microsoft teams and any other adjuster I could reach) I literally didn’t know how to do anything related to claims handling. Essentially the license is your way to get into the queue, without the training you’re either gonna have to lie about being deployed to get a job or know someone on the staff currently. It’s nowhere near as easy as UA-cam will make it seem but it is certainly still worth it. I’ve been licensed almost two years and all I had was one week of work 😅 a bunch of applying to firms knowing their gonna say no but still have to attempt to even get a yes. I’m trying to go with a staff position, get the training, get my reps and then retry to pop out as an independent again! Everyone tells you that you’ll make great money or even 100k but nobody tells you what you really need to know. Please feel free to reach out! Needs for preparation will be: proper training and what I mean is learning how to honor policy, getting vetted on customer service and verbiage, learning what questions to ask, extreme attention to detail, understanding the workload and how to go about grilling it, the interface (ECS for State Farm unsure of others) xactimate estimating and sketching, understanding of construction knowledge and FLOW! Multitasking, thinking on the fly, high stress and seemingly not hitting the mark is just the nature of the beast. If you get a desk job first, great! If you hit the field first, have about 3-5k stashed for travels, stays and grub! People would try to charge you for that little bit of info lol I wish you well and maybe even work in the future!

Your videos are extremely helpful! I'm an independent field adjuster brand new, I am not on a active roster yet but working on it. I have my level 1 and 2 xactimate certification but roofs are difficult for me right now but this is so helpful!

Really enjoying your videos. Great that your doing that. My thing is I know how to do a floor plan, roof, etc . After I make my floor plan , do I make the roof on top of the floor plan? Not sure what to do with my floor plan when I start the roof.

Hi, Happy New Year! I am new to your channel and thank you so much for your wealth of knowledge. For practice, I tried to measure and sketch my own roof and was way out of my league. Have you done a video on slope changes in the middle of the roof or separate roof elevations?
Happy New Year to you as well! I actually don't have a video on that particular issue here on UA-cam but I can tell you that a lot of times it's easiest to add a new roof where the slope changes. It may be a flat/shed roof type that you need to add to just one slope. Hope that helps!

Can you tell me how to square break a roof section in the middle of the roof?

How do you get the smooth edge at the front/right corner between the main gable and sub gable? eveytime I CTRL drag to create, it creates an outside/inside corner break in the footprint.
If that happens you need to click on the red diamond by the name of that section of roof, and drag it so it connects.

I just finished your basics training video. You are a great teacher. THis video is very fuzzy though so its hard to read what is on the screen. The highest quality i can seem to get is 360p

Could you do a roof that shows how to cut it off. For example the garage roof is the same height and pitch on the south side but on the north side it is same pitch but not same height because the garage wall is shorter than the main house. Page 110 in xactimate workbook

howdy from Texas.... its Labor day 2023 I'm using space bar to type thru different roofs not working. I'm on the trial Could that be the reason? The fullscreen option worked
Yes, if it's on the online version it could not work. Also, the trial version can be glitchy.

Do you work for Xactimate? Given the presentation style of this and the fact that you mentioned Salt Lake City, and Xactware/Verisk is based out of there, it would make sense.
No, I'm not affiliated with Xactware in any way. I'm an independent Xactimate trainer that focuses on training restoration contractors how to use the software.
I do happen to live about 10 mins away from the Verisk offices though, so it's not unusual that you may think I work with them.

Which version of Firefox works with X1 on mac??
Here's what I received from one of my smart members here at XM8 Mastery "It will ONLY work with Firefox 52 ESR - which has been discontinued - the catch is you have to have to install it while disconnected from the internet (otherwise it will automatically update it to 60 ESR) once installed you must go into the settings and disable the auto updates. Once its installed and the auto updates is deselected you can connect back to the internet. For security reasons I would only use Firefox from this point for Xactimate."
