- My buddy Earl did the maiden on his beautiful FMS F-86 and this depth perception got the best of him and he flew his plane right into the trees. A pretty messy crash, but Earl's positive attitude is amazing.
Thanks to both of you for a really nice video. Earl has such a great smile and attitude. Glad he was able to fix her up - and I hope you all can enjoy many more flights with that good looking F-86 !
He's a gem isn't he... He's gonna fly the crap out of it now..
Just crashed my P51 last Saturday, hot glued it On Sunday. Flew it on Tuesday.
Gotta love these foamies.
There are some real benefits to foam planes..
Earl is such a good dude. I hated to see it go in, but Earl took it in stride. Great flying airplane. I've tested the toughness as well. Deadsticked mine in the tall stuff twice now (short flights on a 4000), and scraped the runway on low passes about four times. Funny how once they have "character" the risks get more frequent. Lol.
Yep.. Kinda like that first scratch on a new car.. Takes the edge off a bit....
Great attitudes are great in this hobby. You always run into that Rc Professor😊
100% right about that...
Hate to see this happen been there more then once I get bummed out then rebuild and flying again and feel good, good video and great job on rebuild Earl 😊👍👍👍👍
I know the feeling, I crashed my Valiant yesterday, had flown it several times without flaps in the wind, then I flew calm and I didn't use flaps, stalled,, already repair. Never get used to this part of the hobby sorry it happened to you!
Did it again today call me crash Hardway
I think I get more embarrassed or my ego bruised more than anything.. I gotta learn from Earl and just laugh...
Earl must enjoy all the facets of this hobby, which includes crashing. I should be more like Earl when o crash my planes. Entertaining video, sir! Thanks to Earl as well!!
Earl is an awesome guy.. His laugh is the best. When most of us are bummed or embarrassed or pissed due to a crash, he just laughs... Great attitude...
I've been flying for 20+ years (there were a couple breaks in there) and the first thing I noticed slipping was my depth perception. There are so many times I'm watching someone come around and I think they're in the trees but aren't. I'm probably overly cautious about that now. Glad it was fixable!
Thanks for the comments. I have the same issues. I think I'm lined up on the runway, but I'm off and over the grass... Then other days, I'm right down the middle. Doesn't help that my right eye is broken...😎
Earl! G$&D$&@it! 😂 that was the best part ! Thanks both of you for sharing this flight! Hopefully he didn’t strip the front gear retract because fms won’t list the part on their US site and won’t respond back when I’ve asked about that retract for two months with the part number in my request. 🤷🏽
Thanks for commenting. Earl recently had the redemption flight and the nose gear was solid.. Sorry you're having issues with yours...
He should get into FpV, ...
I love his attitude its fun too to repair and modify, keeping the brain work❤
Well when we get older we just can't judge distance cause it's happened to me more than once! Good job flying! Don't worry about it!
So true...
Brother!! If you get angry when you crash you are in the wrong hobby. I get disappointed in my abilities but never mad. If possible the rebuild process begins and she flys again. Most of the time it is definitely pilot error not plane error. Build-fly-break-repeat🤘
Eric, I tell you what.. That Earl has the best attitude.. Most of us get bummed, or embarrassed or maybe a little pissed at ourselves.. Not that guy... He's a gem... I've been flying a long while.. Its almost always pilot error.. I include the failure to maintain and pre-flight check in that.... Its a great hobby, Build/fly/break repeat.. Yup.....
And I’ve gotten pretty good at rebuilding
I've done the same thing, but unfortunately I was doing a maiden on my friends plane. On approach my friend asks. "How close to that hillside do you think you are?" then before I could even answer, the plane plowed through the trees. Was a long shameful walk to retrieve the wreckage.
Thats the worse.. I've crashed a few planes for my friends.. Its sucks... But for some stupid reason, they keep asking me to fly there planes...
Nice job earl
He's a pretty good guy to keep things positive.
Terrain Terrain!
Great video , sorry it Happens
It happens... Earl has the best attitude about it.
I have been flying R/C aircraft for 55 years. My Squadron exists of 635 Aircraft . Only lost 10 in the past 5 years. ALL FMS. JUNK.
Same Landing gear issues and really chinchy servos. Sad but true. Keep um Flying. Buy Fly Repair.
Robert, I don't know if I'd call all FMS junk. I've got quite a few wonderful planes from them over the years.. I've had some issues with EVERY rc plane manufacturer out there at some point in my many years of flying... But, maybe someday someone will surprise me... To be honest, Earl crashed his plane into the trees with the landing gear down. So, not sure if the failure is faulty manufactured FMS part... Thanks for watching. - Will
DAAAAAAA Fly there much????
Depth perception is a bear... Not everyone can fly in an open desert Shel....😎.
Might as well laugh it off
Exactly.
Trees suck 😂
IKR.. Why even have them...🤔
