I always liked the science experiment you can do by yourself which is to: - go to a place where the sun sets at sea - lie down and watch the sun set - as soon as the light disappears over the horizon stand up. You'll see the sun again, cos the earth is curved. You can also watch the sun set twice in tall buildings like the Burj, where they have 2 prayer times at the top and bottom of the tower because the sun sets at slightly different intervals - because the earth is curved. All the love Ted.
I'd basically lost track of pro dota in the last year and was feeling very lukewarm about TI. Then Pyrion shared his anecdote about his recent game and his excitement about watching the tournament. Now, my excitement has returned.
Just what I needed take my mind off 12hour coding days trying to interface with systems full of faulty data & people changing infrastructure settings without telling anyone! Thanks so much your your morning philosophy vlogs.
Expanding on the great filter idea. we don’t know if the point everyone fails at is ahead of us or behind us. It could be that life itself is extremely unlikely. It could be that multicellular life is unlikely, or intelligent life. Or it could be that all suitably intelligent life wipes itself out or attracts some malevolent presence or something in which case we are almost definitely fucked
It's why a lot of very smart people are very worried about the fact we may discover evidence of life on mars, or another planet, as it would mean we've lost one option for having passed the great filter. And if we discover complex life on another planet? That is worst case scenario to a lot of them. It means the filter is almost certainly ahead of us.
Thinking we are alone in the universe is like being one of those butterflies that has a lifespan of one day, existing as the only living thing on one continent, and concluding there is no life on earth.
Game Elite Dangerous helps with comprehending the size of the universe where you can make a "jump" in lengths like 30 light-years and it still takes a week to travel from one side to the other of one galaxy. (its a truck sim in space with lazers)
Ah Elite Dangerous. There is no other game I know that is so amazingly beautiful and intensely boring at the same time. The new expansion was such a wet fart.
@@lukeboy61 every now and then i look up at the expansion to see if it got any better but reviews just keep going down now its like mostly negative with 36% shame it was such a money grab
It's not even that people STILL believe in it, it's actually a relatively new phenomenon. Johnny Harris did a video on it, I suggest checking it out ^^
If the distance from Earth to Pluto is one centimeter, there's still 10 meters to go to the edge of our solar system. That's just the area around our sun. It took nine and a half years for a rocket powered probe to get to Pluto. We are all alone.
I was soooo looking forward to TI when I heard it was coming to my country, too bad the Covid situation went to shit in the last 2 weeks. It is what it is, I guess..
On humans inability to imagine too great or complex things, I've thought that it is same thing with crimes. We all can imagine that killing one man is really awful thing, but killing thousands is unimaginable and leads sometimes heroizing subject responsible.
Abstract scale can numb the feeling of evil acts , it does not reverse it to being perceived as good. You’re conflating two effects which sometimes have appreciable crossover but are distinctly different. People with the power to kill large numbers are facilitated by their society, usually this means the society regards their targets as an enemy or threat - elimination of the threat / protection of the mother society is what lends a heroic air to this kind of action, scale is largely unrelated but just abstracts the direct moral questions more
@@billy1bob2ones3 You are true on that. I mixed them together, which is an error. On small scale one murder overdefines almost all man's 'worth', but the same rule don't work anymore, when scaling up.
Bill Bryson isnt a scientist, his book A Short History of Nearly Everything is filled with so many factual mistakes that you may as well watch netflix for history lessons.
I'm deeply religious and i have never understood how certain religious people buy into flat earth and the like, its just bizarre given how long we have known the earth was round.
Sitting there with an open bathrobe, vaping and holding apples in a hotel room. It is hard to explain to people that you are not a flat earther. Someone should create a deepfake :D
Do flat-earthers also believe that atoms and stuff are flat? Other stars and planets? I feel like it's a pretty clear idea/rule that everything in physics is just big/smal balls that soon around one another. What makes the earth different, and like don't they believe in gravity and stuff. About the plane thing, do they believe that the plane would not drop in altitude if you turn of the motors and/or angle the wings in a way that pushes the plane up to contradict the plane being pulled down by gravity? Like how do they think the plane would just exit the atmosphere without having to work against gravity? Idk man there is no point to even bother with them.
For every 1 flat-earther there must be 50,000,000 non flat-earthers. Are they worth worrying about? honestly I've only ever heard the conspiracy referenced by people that don't believe it. Are people that get worked up about Flat-Eathers just on the receiving end of an age old Troll?
Flat Earthers and Aliens, could there be a more generic conversational topic for a bunch of acquaintances to talk about. I bet weather was in there too. Not that I have a problem with that, it does what it says on the tin and fills the awkward silence with small talk.

flurfers will just say it's refraction or some shit.
they aren't bothered that their "refraction" happens to behave like a sphere
nah man its flat and the sun just teleports
This will look weird if I get caught watching this at work lol
Please continue this series after TI, this is how I want to start every morning.
I think his normal mornings start with kids, might be a bit less relaxing
This is a very enjoyable experience.
Good chat Pyrion, see you tomorrow.
I'd basically lost track of pro dota in the last year and was feeling very lukewarm about TI. Then Pyrion shared his anecdote about his recent game and his excitement about watching the tournament. Now, my excitement has returned.
This has an ASMR feel to it.
Thank God he's not licking my ear though
This is perfect
I think pyrion in the morning could become my morning cup of tea
THE greatest cup of tea, I agree
Which explains why the last two years have been so dreadful
Thoroughly enjoy these vlogs, hearing you ponder and wonder through certain topics :) Cheers Pflax!
Morning all,
I'm now filled with existential dread and trying to remind of my circle of influence.
Just what I needed take my mind off 12hour coding days trying to interface with systems full of faulty data & people changing infrastructure settings without telling anyone! Thanks so much your your morning philosophy vlogs.
These make the start to a working day so much better
Good morning Pflax. Hope your having a good time fella. Takecare. Regards.

This is singularly fantastic, and wholly enjoyable and interesting
I don't even play dota anymore but I love these vids every year from Ted
One of the hidden gems of the internet.
Can't wait for flax to become a psychic entity.
Wow, Existential Episode with PFlax in the Morning.
"Get the 'vid" - How have I never heard this before? 😂
Honestly need this as a daily thing, just very relaxing
PFLAX! Good to see you again!
Having not watched your videos for like 7-8 years, "but when you get older" hit hard. 0:30
10:44 Wow that analogy really puts things into perspective!
The state of that bottle of laphroig might have something to do with the existential vibes of this episode ;)
Always love a bit of existential dread to start the day.
Pflax you lookin like a healthy dad, keep up the good work lad.
Cheers to P-Flax in the morning!
I love that cup so much
Theese vlogs do more to hype me up for TI than any marketing valve has done
I've always found humanities/ my own cosmic insignificance comforting. Nothing matters so life is what I make of it.
I'm 23 and this was deep
Great video to wake up too thanks pyrion xd
Good morning to you too sir
This is surprisingly profound...
Oh damn, the white robe is back!
The Great Filter is like Blood Bowl. You eventually hit a wall and something like "Throw a Rock" ends you.
Please make these throughout the event. At least every couple of days!
My understanding per last episode was, the Egg is filled with Sand, but apparently it's filled with existential dread.
why this isn't a regular feature of every morning is my one life regret
It's not even that people STILL believe in it, it's actually a relatively new phenomenon. Johnny Harris did a video on it, I suggest checking it out ^^
i think dota is the most fun to watch it has ever been.
to play however... is a whole different experience...
I see you, KFP member. Good morning and good luck next game.
What do you do in these 4 days before you start the event? Whats the prep like behind the scenes etc?
God i missed that bathrobe
Flat earthers... even they admitted they are found all over the "globe". Geniuses every last one of them... bless their cotton hats.
"Explain this to me, we're losing. I'm playing mid viper" explanation found
Have a good day my lad
Yesssss
Big bummer episode but I'm here for it

Who knew Flax could be so cerebral in the morning.
love you egg
The reason we travel on an arc on the plane map is because it's actually a straight line on a sphere but doesn't translate to a flat map
while that is part of the explanation, another is that planes follow the wind currents, which are slightly bent (due to the coriolis force)
I was soooo looking forward to TI when I heard it was coming to my country, too bad the Covid situation went to shit in the last 2 weeks. It is what it is, I guess..
Pflax is wearing team spirits toiletpaper!
Morning mate
Yep
2:59 Some beans.
Good morning
If i keep wishing really hard that he will say "nubbin" do you reckon he'll say it ??

That one dislike must be a flat earther.
Morning
I've been waiting for these every year for the last like four. Why don't you start a podcast mate?
He does have a podcast called “Triforce” with Sips and Lewis
Airplanes do have to pitch down continually, but the effect is far too tiny and slow for you (or the pilot, or even the gyroscopes) to notice.
Aliens could come if we are nothing more than a farm.
i absolutely loved this rant about flat earth... too funny
edit: also it looks like 1 flat earther disliked the video
What do you think about Tusk Undying Offlane? Lvl 3 you get massive kill potential.
Morning'
Great talk! I too am fascinated about flerfs. Do watch FTFE if you haven't that's some great Scottish flat earth dismantling :)
Flat earthers? What is this, Triforce?
so far 5 flat earthers disliked this video,haha...i salute you...no...no i dont...

don't look at the ground look at the sky you can see the curvature in the clouds
I'm deeply religious and i have never understood how certain religious people buy into flat earth and the like, its just bizarre given how long we have known the earth was round.
Dude u look younger in TI10 I haven't seen you since... ti5? Reverse aging? Sure you have less hair but you seem to look younger in my opinion.

wat?
I am now mad because your interpretation of flat earth is RONGE

Thought I'd get to hear some juicy scoops on the practice rooms. Instead this man went on an 8 minute rant on
Hope you get better
