Dark and Darker had the same issue but softlocked the game by adding high roller so you pay an ante fee. High risk. High reward or you just play normal low risk low reward it works in that community don’t know why BSG couldn’t hotfix test this setup. They took it a step forward by also capping the rarity of items which you could take in to normal to stop “steam rolling” which is essentially the same issue EFT is facing. I haven't played EFT this wipe, but in the previous 2 wipes I never had a huge issue completing quests due to competition. Yes, getting the Unknown key last wipe was a little annoying, and there's always "roadblock" items like flash drives, salewas, and food for Jaeger, but those are really just speedbumps. The one challenge which can happen is completing map specific "kill PMC" quests. Late last wipe I was trying to complete Chumming - difficult when most players have completed their Interchange quests. However, I can see how Setup (which was previously a later quest that didn't lead to anything except Kappa) would be a problem for a majority of the playerbase. But this is fixable by modifying the quest tree and isn't anything truely inherent to EFT.
Honestly been playing for 4 wipes now and once I hit the "Samples" quest from Peacekeeper and lighthouse quests for mechanic I tell myself "yup, this is as far as we go." I usually experiment a bit, spend my money on expensive guns trying to chad up and die, once my stash goes under 300K roubles I just quit tarkov until next wipe. Like there's apparently a lightkeeper or something, never seen it or heard of it, it's basically a ghost story for players like me. Makes me wonder if BSG realizes most of the playerbase doesn't even reach the light keeper introduction. They have so many quests for lightkeeper according to wiki, but I try to read it and it's incomprehensible for me. I gotta go to reserve, kill gulukhar and 6 of his body guards by myself, shoot a flare at some antenna? Then extract through the cliff descent which requres a 3Mil rouble melee weapon and a paracord. Seriously did anyone do this quest? İs it even possible to have a run where you get the 20% boss spawn chance, kill the boss and all of his guards and get out without some player shooting you down?
I’ve been subscribed for 14 years waiting for another diamond encrusted paint guide about a grindy and frustrating game I’ll never play myself. I rate this video 5 out of 5 French diplomats.
Every time I try to watch PFlax's stream when he's playing Tarkov, he's just scurrying about in a dark corridor where it's impossible to see anything then get's shot from somewhere who knows where and he dies. This is not a criticism of Flax's play, the whole game seems to be flashes of rusted grime streaked walls and then you die. I cannot understand how that is fun.
Lovely descriptions of situations and the stereotypes. I totally agree some "softpaths" should be on some tasks. Especially setup and maybe samples but i always got lucky with dailies so i dont have to bother. Setup is nightmare for me. So hard infact i only got it done after like 5 full max trader wipes. Its a horrid quest imo. I really enjoy these different perspectives on the game from lower lvl players due to myself just becoming numb to the bullshit some of these are for the average joe.

Well this is a pleasant surprise! For Interchange, try the 11SR extract - it's still not great, but for ~2-3x the price of the car per use it's a lot better than Emercom
The reason why there aren't "easy" routes to complete tasks is because Nikita is actively hostile to the ideal of "casual" players enjoying his game, unironically.
People call the playstyle Rat but it is in fact Cat. Let me elaborate. Cats are patient hunters. Rats are opportunistic scavengers. Cats use environment to hide themselves. Rats will run in the open. Cats pay attention to every sound and what is around them. Rats are the source of sound. Cats play with their food. Rats are the food. You never know when the cat will smack you. Rat will smack you as soon as it can. Cat may leave you alive if it feels like it. Rats will give you plague whether they want to or not. Cats love night time and staying on one spot for long time. Rats run all over the place no matter the time. Cats are curious and go to places normally unvisited. Rats keep going to the same plave over and over.
Extraordinary, the insights are spot on, and the idea of a relaxed and slower mode is something I'd love to see but seems so antithetical to BSGs vision sadly. I say sadly but we're all still here lol, cheers
i might be overthinking this but in all likelihood no one will read it anyway, so i just wanna clarify that it's not that i don't appreciate what you've been doing in the years between because it's obviously worked out for you, but the pflax guides to dota characters are what got me invested in your video style and i think 8 years is long enough to say that it's nostalgic seeing another one
Samples isn't a great example, because can be done by spamming scavs. A better example would be the kill or not kill Sanitar quests. Those quests should have an alternative quest to bring found in raid stuff instead of doing the kill grind.
Samples and setup arent the main questlines for those traders, they are the steep hill with better rewards, you can maxout those trader without em and maxing traders is currently the "default" progression, but i agree with the point of making progress more accessible. those were just poor~ish examples
