    Hey SMARTER - that's a great question and one that we get pretty often. The snatch is like any lift - only dangerous in those who don't know how to progress it. When Ryan first started doing this lift he only used a 15 pound training bar and we slowly worked up from there. And to answer your question, if the bar starts drifting behind his head he'd just drop it, simple as that.

    The best volleyball players have a huge jump and a whip of an arm swing to hit balls into the stratosphere. This video demonstrates two exercises every volleyball player should include into their workouts to help them dominate on the court or beach.

      Can the hang snatch be done with a really big dumbbell that both hands can be on?

      Sir I have a question.
      Does the weight of the barbell matter? If yes how much weight can we probably start with for a beginner?
      Thank you

    @velocitysport If you're still apprehensive you could substitute barbell jump squats to get your lower body power and Turkish get-ups for shoulder stability, but that's 2 exercises you could get in 1 with the snatch. You can look up both of those alternate exercises on UA-cam and see how they're done.

    Thanks for the volleyball specific exercises. I can jump through roof but I was having trouble winning the 50/50 balls when I was going up to spike or block. I had the explosion to go vertical but I didn't have the strength and quickness for a fierce spike once I was in the air. Exercise routines like these really helped me to improve my game.

    @ZoomZip youre right Snatch is a pretty dangerous exercise. But, its also the best exercise for volleyball players. If you dont learn how to snatch from someone who really knows what theyre doing dont try it, you more likely to get hurt if you try and teach yourself

    There's no loading phase for the hang, and no torquing of the core... Really simplified exercises that may actually be too advanced for most young volleyball players with no prior training. Strength is the #1 thing to start with when it comes to physical training, then you at speed and power.

    You do not want to "jump as high as possible" while doing any snatch variation, let alone throw the bar up at the peak of your jump. Poor instructions

  • @SirJamsalot

    the medicine ball doesn't develop the "whip" in an arm swing though. It's great for piking, but isn't there an exercise specifically for the whip action as well as the wrist snap over the top of the ball?

  • @xxslvrxx
    @xxslvrxx 13 років тому

    @Blasta808 just train your body overall and practice hitting with a ball
    you do not need weights to get better in volleyball
    do pushups and workout ur tricep with a chair. work on forearm.
    do squat jumps for legs and workout clafs and you'll be good.
    practicing hitting the ball hard by having a friend set you and u try to hit as if there were a net.
    TRUST ME IT WORKS.

  • @BrandonTalbot
    @BrandonTalbot 13 років тому

    @Reusche1337 once or twice a week tops. Snatch, Clean, RDL's, and Front squats and you got a good little lift focused on power. Well if you focus on the power aspect...but yeah good shiz right there.

    Do someone knows if the "Wacces" medicine balls can be slammed like in this video? I just bought one, the material is identical to a normal basketball ball, but not sure whats inside of it, and you can fill it with air. Is there a chance to break the ball with this exercise? Sorry if bad english.
