Christ almighty, this guy in roughly 7 minutes drew a headshot that basically is better than the accumulation of everything I've ever drawn in my life.
Honestly, that is the most genuine and honest advice I've ever seen on UA-cam. Talented people 99% of the time are not just born with their talents... they just have a greater opportunity to practice.
Virgo of Frogs thanks. I went to school for classical guitar performance and logged tens of thousands of hours practicing, but people never hear that. they never heard the struggles, frustration, and dedication, they just heard me playing outside my practice room. it's a long road to get to run, and we all start by crawling. we all just need to find what we want to get great at. I take inspiration from all walks of talents, and take that desire, be it from painters, guitarists, construction workers, or football players, and apply it to my goals in life.
David Carmichael no kidding...we didn't have this resource in the 90s. I remember ordering a little book on how to draw superheroes out of the back of a comic book and I waited months for it to arrive in the mail. when it finally did, it was nearly useless as drawing instruction.
Same here..i grew up im the 80s-90s...had there been the internet and youtube as a kid...i would have been a better as an artist and guitarist. There was for lessons tutorials as a kid.
hacksdp3 still can't believe Tim Burton tried to use Cage for his Superman movie. I watched the documentary about it on HBO, and it looked like the worst, most heretical BS I have ever seen. the changes they were going to make were highly disrespectful to the history of the character. he wasn't supposed to even be able to FLY in the movie! and Cage just looked all wrong for it too...

Todd's personality reminds of my own, I just have none of his talent. You can tell he has a huge imagination and is never not thinking about something totally bad ass in his head. What a genuinely, fun and creative person.
Enjoyed your drawings since I was a kid. Now I am in my 40s and you are still one of my favorite artists. Glad you have a channel so I can still enjoy your works and support you Toddy.
3 years later and I'm back to the place where I learnt alot of drawing techniques from, also I followed literally every step you did and did quite well :D!
Really enjoyed this video and your approach. I am a beginner just starting to take drawing seriously and your style is just right; not too fast and a great progression through the drawing. I appreciate this very much.
Wow, that art work is still amazing! I wish he was still drawing comics! When ever I saw a Todd McFarland drawn comic or cover instant purchase! American Comics now don’t compare!
you are a blessed man, dear Tood, thanks for Share your Expirience, and show us, your scent of your Style., I have been watch tips and lesson with some other gigiants, like Finch , Lee... but in this moment I had catched many Misteries of Draw of American Comics, Thanks again, Greetings from Mexico.
I swear, every single time I watch one of these videos I start off by looking at his initial scratches/outlines and say to myself "How in the hell did this kid make a name for himself with this shit? It looks ridiculous." And then, boom --- three minutes later I look at it again and I'm like "Oh, there it is. That's why." LOL Todd McFarlane = everyone's favorite drunk uncle.
Todd,I noticed your coyote 11 behind you that has your first published work. I have a couple of those two. Do you collect comics? If so what is your favorite book that you own?
Even if I had the technology, I’d still need lessons on using it. Kinda prefer old fashioned pencil and paper anyway. As weird as it sounds, there’s more of an intimate connection when you can feel the lines you make. I know this method is cleaner and faster. But I like a more “hands on” result.
You start by drawing a circle, then you shape the eye and brrrm shrrrroooomm tch tch tch and it's done!
Sarcastic Duck you forgot the boom boom tch tch tch here comes the giant fist!!!
That seems easy 😂😝
Todd McFarlane seems like such a cool guy. Watching him draw is kinda like watching Bob Ross paint in fast forward.
Christ almighty, this guy in roughly 7 minutes drew a headshot that basically is better than the accumulation of everything I've ever drawn in my life.
Praise The Toddfather
Oh thats why my drawings suck... Im not adding enough "sexy"
Al - same same 😂
@@deadraven7366 You're also not using nearly enough rocket ship noises when laying down your lines.
@@SlyMaelstrom - I guess that's my main problem
its great how he tells the viewers to be good, what a solid dude
I love Todd trying to be "hype"...you will forever be one my favorite artist
Be my favorite***
Okkk
you can tell the passion, when he makes sound effects as he draws. Awesome
watching talented people gets me depressed
no use sitting there. bust out the sketch pad and practice. nobody gets good at anything by not practicing.

It should make you inspired. If it doesn’t, might be time to re-evaluate things. Good luck!
I'm not worthy .
Todd , your Spawn comics are what influenced my love of art and drawing. Thank you for all the work you have done.
I wish I was 12 again but with UA-cam learning from your art lessons. #inspiration

Sweet jesus lol Tim's lazy years XD
Actually Superman not being able to fly would have been closer to how his powers had been when Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel created the character.
Or Keanu Reeves
Spawn/Ghost Rider crossover please
Look up screen junkies vs sieres they did one on ghost rider and spawn
Thomas ward rice That's not what he means
SupermanXD duuuuuuuuuude that would be so sick

The sound effects 😂
Todd's personality reminds of my own, I just have none of his talent. You can tell he has a huge imagination and is never not thinking about something totally bad ass in his head. What a genuinely, fun and creative person.
Thank you Todd McFarlane. Great work.

"You guys are probably driving or got to do homework so I won't take all of your time" gotta love Todd!!
I love how aware he is about how, "hello fellow kids" he is, if that makes any sense.
Todd's talking about hurrying up and the videos being too long. Haha I want more!

Great job Todd. You're my favorite comic book artist. Next live drawing you should do draw Moon Knight.
Amazing style, want to draw like you!
I thought this was a time lapse based on the video length. No, this man really just drew Ghost Rider in 6 minutes
I still have no idea how this stuff was done by hand back in the late 90s when I was collecting and reading these
That's why you're so awesome. You're left handed, Todd. Yay.
Amazing sketch.
Ghost rider has been my favorite anti hero thx todd

Love the sound effects XD
You have reason for be proud, you draw well!
I swear, every single time I watch one of these videos I start off by looking at his initial scratches/outlines and say to myself "How in the hell did this kid make a name for himself with this shit? I love these videos they are kinda Bob Ross essque instead of happy trees we get a lot onomatopoeia, love how how talented and quirky he is.
6 minutes and 55 seconds... no wonder he's the master of hitting deadlines!
This is amazing
Insane🔥
an absolute lad
Beautiful
Todd,I noticed your coyote 11 behind you that has your first published work. I have a couple of those two. Do you collect comics? If so what is your favorite book that you own?
This is a good example of why people should loosen up and throw more fast, confident lines.
Pretty awesome
I feel like squidward when SpongeBob shows him how he drew a perfect circle
Nice Ghost Rider dude
Todd, do you do all of your art for spawn comics on the computer? How hard was it for you to make the transition from paper?
I SOO want that as a print to hang on my wall!
Todd makes everything looks sexy xD
3 seconds in and he's already 100x better than me. It's like....da fuck
Awesome!!!!!
amazing
So what kind of tablet are you using all software
Anyone know what tablet he's using?
That’s badass
In less than 7 minutes! wow😮
DAMN Toddy Woddy!! I'm not even a Ghost Rider fan like that but this is super dope! Do you paint at all?
I wish he wasn't in such a hurry with these. I could watch him draw for hours
I always saw elements of Ghost Rider, Spider Man and Venom in...SPAWN. Am I right?
🐐
What kind of brush is he using? looks phenomenal!
Photoshop brush using wacom cintiq stylus. He must have made some custom brush setting in the program
Makes it look so easy
Even if I had the technology, I’d still need lessons on using it. Kinda prefer old fashioned pencil and paper anyway. As weird as it sounds, there’s more of an intimate connection when you can feel the lines you make. I know this method is cleaner and faster. But I like a more “hands on” result.
Amazing
