May be one more idea from Chineese fighting methods, like Tai chi - in which a conflict is taking place in two phases- accepting ,or receiving the opponent -often without force and then covnverting the initial conditions say by rotation of the torzo, applyiing circular movements perpendicularly to the attacking limbs, thus, causing the opponent to loose its balance and creating favourable position for counterattack.
From theis perspective ideep Purposeful inhaling might mean Receiving the Satus Quo and Deliberate Deep Exhaling is already changing the Status Quo in favour of us.
