Nickolas Ashford (May 4, 1941 - August 22, 2011) and Valerie Simpson (born August 26, 1946)
As performers, Ashford & Simpson's best-known duets are "Found A Cure" (1979) and "Solid (As a Rock)" (1984 US and 1985 UK). The duo was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2002. Ashford and Simpson were also recipients of The Rhythm & Blues Foundation's Pioneer Award in 1999, and ASCAP's highest honor, the Founder's Award in 1996. The duo essentially had two careers: one as a successful writing and producing team and the other as singers and performers themselves.
Undoubtedly the best husband/wife team, their music is timeless.

Absolutely my favorite Ashford and Simpson song. I had the absolute pleasure to see them multiple times in Chicago and they never disappointed. I agree with the person who said the Best Husband and Wife team EVER. You can never get tired of listening to them or Phyllis Hyman. Both Nick and Phyllis gone too soon.

Just heard this song for the first time on satellite radio...had to check out the video so here I am.... mmm mmm mmm...so damn smooth & soulful! I swear I was born during the wrong time (1978) cause I love this old school R&B! They don't make music like this any more...and it's a damn shame!

I never experienced the opportunity to observe them perform in person. I can say, the enormous beauty and messages that they reflect to me is quite special. It is very obvious that the composition of every song from Nick & Valerie, is a deep reflection of the love that they have for one another. A very deep and serious love that they have expressed from the heart. How blessed all of us are, who listen very attentively.
