Valerie takes us back to the early days of writing with her partner Nick Ashford for Motown, and shares some incredible stories behind their most memorable songs. How Ashford and Simpson are not in The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is totally absurd. At least they are in The Songwriter Hall Of Fame. RIP Nic.
I concur....They should be if not by now and Definitely in the Song writers Hall of Fame.
...I've come to the conclusion that these award shows and accolades are rigged! Smh...they absolutely belong there over a lot of others inducted. 🤨😑
if they are not, they should be in the Music Producers HOF too.
They r&b motown that's why. It was to many motown legends went in the hall of fame, such as Dianna ross, Michael Jackson, Stevie wonder, temptation, smokies Robinson, and others, Ashford and Simpson was song writers, and later on become Starz even though they wrote some songs for motown others they still was first to be stars ⭐.
Yats why aren't they in the Hall of Fame they were great and did a lot of music for a lot of people in Motown
It's amazing how she's been around so long and still looks so youthful. It's also amazing how the music she wrote so long ago is still bankable for her now! That's a true artist.

I remember as a child Mrs. Valerie had those gorgeous braids or locs before they were popular...she updated the look of her braids about 20 years ago...she was ahead of her time even then... thanks to ebony magazine I got to know them as a family when I was a child.

Their music was such a Beautiful Part of my life. All the Marvin and Tammie Songs. "Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing" in The African American Cultire is an Old School Saying that is Just a Standard Part of our Culture. A phrase that will never go away. It is a part of you.

I remember when we would have benediction at church when I was a little girl and we would sing 'Reach out and touch somebody's hand'...here I am in my 40's reminiscing over good times. I never knew who wrote this song up untill a couple of weeks ago. Valerie looks super beautiful she has not aged at all ♥️

I’m a spoiled brat. I am a former music industry exec. I never had to ask or pay for concert tickets. But one day, my former business partner called me saying, “I have a pair of tix for Ashford & Simpon tomorrow night at Radio City. Do you want them?” Of course, I snatched them up, took my then husband and enjoyed one of the very best concerts of our lives. And I’m telling you, I’ve seen EVERYONE in concert. This was one of the best shows I’ve ever experienced. A&S has set the standard for me. No one has outdone them since.
I went to see them in concert during the 90's, and my sister saw them in concert during the 80's. She told me after her concert that they're great and she enjoyed them. I can say so myself, they're great writers and entertainers. Concerts were outstanding.
Valerie ❤️ is an absolutely beautiful woman inside and out! Such a talented lady! Gracious and dignified! Pure class!

I have seen duets and collaborations. But, my favorite is Tammy and Marvin together. Wonderful stage presence.
I remember during the mid 1980's qwhen I was in the Navy,stationed aboard a ship, I had been enjoying the "Solid" album,and out of the blue decided to sit down and write them a letter (this was maybe 1985-86?,....people still wrote letters by hand!) after mailing it,to my surprise a few weeks later I received a press packet from the William Morris Agency,and inside was a folder with some information,as well as a B&W /8x11 Capital records Press photo autographed by both Nick&Valerie!,I was surprised to had received it,and it had a nice personal note to me written on it. I still have that photo framed,and needless to say it is one of my most prized possession"s. ..maybe they sent me this because they noticed my return address was on the Navy base on a ship?,not sure,but nevertheless I'm glad they sent it!...huge fan!.

I find a ton of stuff on artists on Wikipedia. My cousin was a studio musician with Motown and others and he said they get it right.
"About Love" by Gladys Knight and "The Boss" by Diana Ross are phenomenally underatted albums.... I remember hearing "Stay Free" for the first time and, being totally hooked on their writing style..... Incredible artists and, humble with it.... 💙
