    Thank you so much for this video. I had to watch it several times before attempting it but I got it done. Mine does have the motor and I was not able to get the bracket back in so I left the window in the up position and non-functional. I never use it anyways. If you ever replace one with a motor please post and show how to get the bracket back in and make sure the window is on the track. Thank you!

    Great video! Unless I missed it, I don't think you explained how you detached the 2 cables on the left (towards the front of the car). You did unscrew that whole part that bolts to the left on the inside of door, but I still didn't follow how you datached that from the big black plastic assembly.
    Let me encourage anyone who might be thinking of doing this. It took me just a bit less than 2 hours. I didn't actually undo any of those cables on the left but I just left it connected and didn't fully detach the big black plastic panel inside. Asian Mechanic Guy said he didn't put that big metal window slot rail back in, but I did because it looked like it was providing some support at least to the latch assembly. I kept all of that all together and just replaced the door lock actuator in place. The hardest part was getting the latch and everything all the way back in the door. Just be patient with it and start with the left end angled up. Then when you get it in a ways, bring the left end down and snake your arm in there to push it up into place.
    Anyway, great video! You did a lot of nice visuals on how to unbolt a lot of the pieces. I greatly appreciate it!

      The funny thing is I've got a 2012 grand caravan that has not had this problem and it has almost 280000 miles on it. But my 2017 grand caravan has a 117000 miles on it and I am now getting the dreaded buzz from the driver's side sliding door. I'm hoping that if that 1 craps out that at least all the other door locks will still work.

    Kudos, I just did this to a 2012 with glass and tracks (yours did not have glass, 2 nuts less work!) how did you get the 3 tabs out of the sub frame at 5:15? I never got that far, Mine was stuck in the lock position so I didnt have the liberty of removing the latch assembly in the jamb. I got fed up and just jammed the actuator rod back into the latch and it ,ust have broke the jam free as its working again...but now I have the buzz...but I can open the friggin door now. I think the buzz is the actuator over running its limit internally, like I think I jumped a tooth when I jammed the rod back manually? I see the little arrow on the lever and the mark on the actuator itself. This is a difficult job, you are better than me not breaking any of those push connectors. I broke 5.

    I changed 2 actuators. They took too long. In the second, I broke a couple of bracket and got frustrated after 4 hours. I removed the glass in 5 minutes and then it took me another 10 minutes to install the lock mechanism. I highly suggest removing glass and weather strip around the glass.

    been stuck at getting the panel out of the door now that everything is disconnected for about 2 hours. wiggling the panel seems to do next to nothing towards moving the latch assembly and thus dislodging the track bar. noticed you were able to separate the door panel from the latch via those 3 teeth. any tips on how to do that easily?

    • @asianmechanicguy6483
      @asianmechanicguy6483  4 місяці тому

      there is a stupid plastic that connect on the latch assembly i know its hard but try to remove that first i think i did not show it in the video cuz i did it by myself its hard for me to film everything

      @@asianmechanicguy6483 I appreciate the direction and you taking the time to upload this. I was able to take the rear-slider applique off of the door and it gave a little window to allow me to unhook the window guide from that vertical bar. Dont think i ever could have done it without that. The latch mechanism being joined to the inner door panel by plastic made it flex too much and not able to jar the latch assembly loose. A $25 actuator saved me from a $1200+ bill at the dealership, who wanted to replace the entire mechanism and charge over $900 for the part alone.
      For those who it pertains to, 2015-2017 Town and Countries have faulty actuators and they are covered by a 2021 extended warranty for 15yrs and 150,000 miles. Just gotta get a service center to diagnose it properly and not try to scam you for a more expense and not covered part (the whole assembly).
      Thanks again! This helped a lot.

    • @aishaford3309
      @aishaford3309 8 місяців тому

      So- I too had this noise until yesterday. It stopped.
      Now the sliding door does not unlock or open. It's jammed shut.
      I'm counting my blessings.
      I've read a forum regarding callbacks- and a lady said her sliding door is stuck open. It won't latch shut.
      You may want to address this before the buzzing stops.
      If you have a warranty- it maybe be covered because of the existing recall on sliding door actuators in Grand Caravans and Chrysler Town and Country.
      Humorous note: I did not answer the phone calls regarding my car's extended warranty. So- I'm out of pocket and if I choose to fix this door I will be doing so from the inside of my car.
      I'll be praying for all us owners- that when the buzzing stops- the door is not stuck opened.
      Thank you for the tutorial and support group chat ❤️ 💕
