- The rural city of Battambang in Cambodia is definitely one of the best places I have ever visited! It is the capital of the Battambang province and the third largest city in Cambodia. I had the most incredible time trying loads of local foods, including grilled rat and even snake wine. I rode the bamboo train, saw thousands of bats flying in swarms, and toured around the local market. There really is so much to see and do here, I think it is for sure underrated. It is a must visit destination if you are in Cambodia. I absolutely loved it.

The fresh rice paper was so delicious!😋 I loved it! And surprisingly, I really did like the rat. It helped me know they are from the rice fields, so they are healthy rats. Haha. There were many things I couldn't bring myself to try.🙈 The people in Cambodia really are incredible!💕

Bat-Tambang where the bats are dwelling in the caves. Cambodia has come a long way as the country had to live through the Pol Pot killing madness not very long ago. Most of my family members died in Pursat Provonce next to Battambang as they sent us from Phnom Penh to work in the rice fields. I've returned to visit my sole surviving sister who currently lives in Phnom Penh every year since my retirement from Minnesota to heal the horrific past. Cambodia is very safe to travel now as people have moved on with their lives. Be mindful and be kind whenever possible as life is short to do the things we don't love doing. Peace out from a genocide survivor 🎉

Cambodia can receive many more tourists from Thailand. If you guys aren't busy with various dramas, there is a railway connection between Thailand and Cambodia. But the Cambodian government is stupid and refuses to open the service.
