I got one awhile back and played it quite a bit. Recently I lost a bunch of data somehow and had to play a bunch to get things back. I am having so much fun. Even games that are nothing special seem brand new. Great console.
Great video! I just picked one up a couple months ago. Since I owned one before, I had both Zelda remasters, and Bayonetta 2 physical copies. But the exciting thing for me is all the virtual console stuff I have….Metroid Prime Trilogy, Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid Zero Mission, Minish Cap, and a few games you can play on NSO already….but I don’t have to worry about Nintendo taking them away with out a service agreement. I’ve picked up a few Wii U exclusives already, so I’m building that collection. I still need to grab Zombi U and Mario Maker before they go up in price. Maybe get Xenoblade if it’s at a decent price.
Love it. I’d definitely recommend Xenoblade. It will only go up in value and its worth every penny. Fantastic game! Thanks for keeping the Wii U experience alive!
I love the Wii U. In fact, the only video on my channel with over one million views (it’s now at 2.2 million) is a Wii U game video. That shows me others love the Wii U as well.
The wii u still has a good retro game library. Especially gba games can be found there for dirt cheap. I would get some before the store closes in march
For anyone wanting to play StarFox listen carefully, don't play the main story first. Go to training mode and spend about two hours learning the controls, because the motion controls are kinda complicated. There's a minus button that swap screens and you have the ability to turn the motion controls on or off in the pause menu. It's easier to shoot everyone in first person mode, where as all ranged mode is easier for avoiding enemies.
I'm considering getting a Wii u since being able to Emulate it on Pc at a good performance is probably going to take while. As well as finding something to use instead of the game pad will also take some time. I know emulating Ds games on Wii u is also pretty easy, whereas on Pc currently is more difficult. I guess I should look into homebrew
Got a WiiU just weeeks before Nintendo gave us the grim news. Sadly I haven't been playing much since I have work and stuff but the real bummer is that my Game-Pad just happends to suffer joy-con drift syndrome from time to time.
Thumbsticks aren't too hard to change. But, cleaning them will most likely fix the issue. There are videos on youtube for teardown, and get you some electronic contact cleaner and spray down the sticks. It's worth a shot.
Interesting point. Breath of the wild is the best game on the switch and its a wii u game also. now that I think about it, the yoshi wii u game is better than the switch counterpart too. Switch has some strong titles!
I have a Switch, a Switch Light, A Wii , and a Wii U. The Wii and Wii U are Homebrewed but I have no need to keep the Wii hooked up as the Wii U is a Fully Supported WII Emulator which is also Homebrewed. The Wii U is simply Magic. I got the larger Battery for the Gamepad on Amazon and both Switches are pretty much collecting dust until the next cool game is released on Switch.
Nice! Thats awesome. I have 2 homebrewed switches that collect dust mostly as well. I also don’t use the wii. I used to use it for gamecube games when Im on the flatscreen, but then I got a modded gamecube and now the wii serves no purpose.
The WiiU is an all in one system. My other consoles are collecting dust. NES, SNES, Sega's, Dreamcast, PS2 and PS1, Dos, ScumVM, Amiga, Wii, N64, Gamecube, DS, streaming from pc, You name it. The WiiU does the job with any controller you like. I bought a $400 Wacom tablet screen for my wife for painting. The WiiU has less delay than the Wacom. Thats insane.
8:26: Don't worry. Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze for Wii U is not expensive and never will be. 9:00: And don't worry. Splatoon for Wii U is not expensive and never will be. It also has been FAR surpassed by Switch versions. 10:11: And don't worry. Nintendo Land for Wii U is not expensive and never will be. It was given away with consoles for years. So your advice as to the top 3 "great" games to buy for Wii U before they go up in price is hilarious to anyone who knows Wii U.
5:15: Again, no clue whatsoever. First, not every game supports playing it on the GamePad, but MUCH more importantly, he seems to think you can waltz between rooms in your house with this GamePad and keep playing. Has he ever even touched a Wii U in his life? You absolutely CANNOT take the Wii U GamePad to another room (away from the console) and have it work! And of course you can get a $22 high-capacity battery for the GamePad to.
Wii U gamepad is a game changer. I picked up my Wii U a month ago and now completing Deus Ex HR despite the fact that this is the most weak and unstable version of all consoles. I just love how the UI, menus and the hacking game are attached to the pad while the main screen is almost clear.
I mentioned that it is modable and there is an entire reddit page dedicated to modifying. I also mentioned a main buying point is for retro gaming…not sure how ya missed it. Nonetheless When I speak of consoles I like to speak to more authentic gaming. Just about anything can emulate now so it gets redundant if I’m always talking about emulation.
4:50: Again, he has no clue whatsoever what he is talking about. The Wii U does NOT, under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES upscale ANY Wii games. It never did and is incapable of doing so. If it had that capability, I would have bought one on launch day just for that feature! The fact is (and you can find videos here proving it) the Wii with component cables or a decent Wii2HDMI adapter provides SUPERIOR image quality for Wii and GameCube games vs the Wii U's built-in HDMI. Yep, Nintendo screwed that up too. Retro DNA is clueless!

Another down side to the wiiU in my opinion is it's region locking and lack of multiple languages my default. That can be circumvented though, but still. My biggest thing I think the wiiU dropped the ball on was It's hardware was not used to help port more great light gun games to it like the OG Wii was doing. Look, I know that the wiiU was not necessarily marketed as requiring the Wii motes (the gamepad was the main point), but given that the system used normal Wii motes for alot of games... I'm sad that (to my knowledge) not a single arcade light gun game was made for the wiiU, unlike the Wii which got great classics like house of the dead, etc. Such a missed opportunity for the more mature audience to enjoy it that way too.
