This is like Sonic Unleashed hate, we’re only just now getting people speak about appreciating something, after so many people had so much hate for it for sometime, only long after it is to old to be saved and take back past words and thoughts or rewrite one conclusion the sales are to early and the verdict to late.😅😞
I think it may come down to having a reason to talk about it, the Eshop closing down has given that reason and relevance for many I feel. For myself, I am huge into preservation, and whilst it was not touched on in the video, the closing of the Eshop links into that. And I agree with Sonic Unleashed, it is my favourite Sonic Game.
I got mine for Christmas 2013 and it still means a lot to me. Might be biased, but I don't even understand why it got so much hate other than the marketing.
no it isn't. every game of this underrated console got a port on the 3ds, the switch, or even the original wii... except for pikmin 3 and those yoshi games literally nobody played
...What are you talking about?? First of all, you're absolutely wrong, where tf is NintendoLand on the Switch, then? Second, why call it underrated when you're trying to berate it? Third, uhhh.. Pikmin 3 Deluxe was actually a thing on the Switch back in like, 2020 or something, so you're technically contradicting yourself, so do some more research and try again lmao
The less cared about that I care about like Tank Tank Tank and Devils Third stayed for understandable reasons. Many got 3DS/Switch ports, or Switch sequels but not all. Zelda games I see no issues Nintendo focused on the ones they had considered remakes for anyways and may keep it two Zelda remakes per console. Why would they bring over the others when they could others with potential they wouldn't get which Skyward Sword being end of the Wii and how many people didn't play besides it being not an open world Zelda either so that puts it in an interesting position with 2D Zelda, 3D linear/small scale Zelda and large open world Zelda (if it wasn't BOTW/TOTK it could have been a remake of the first game just imagine even if likely wouldn't happen but still). I think for the 2D, 2D/3D to 3D Mario games this makes some sense to bridge some gaps of the types of games offered. I mean Pikmin 3 Deluxe sales are what they are but I couldn't give a care for Mario and Zelda I somewhat care for so you bet I'm playing Pikmin 4 the game I would buy a Nintendo system for because I like strategy games and the niche Nintendo titles not their big stuff. So add 1 customer there.
I don't get why people don't like the Wii U. For me it's by far the most nostalgic console except for the 3DS. Playing Nintendoland or Mariokart at a friends place was always the best.

I love the Wii U and miss the eshop on it and 3ds, but the main reason I was mad about that was Nintendo wasn’t preserving their greatest games. But now with the announcement of gba on switch online I’m almost completely satisfied. I like the Wii U first of all but I think it demonstrates a lot of things. The Wii U was important in marketing, naming, an all in one console doesn't matter, why people don't always care about a gimmick or understand it (dual screens/let alone understand it. I mean how many people cast their phone to their TV they can but who knows that). I mean look at PS Vita, Playlink games for PS4 using your smartphone or tablet to play games (the Vita got none of that, sure you would need multiple than phones being more accessible or many of the games could literally be played with the PS Camera with mic support. Otherwise the UNO game benefits but if it were on Wii U it would have been a good as split screen in other games to hide your cards in Clue for example and get around the map. Besides being a good COD split screen option. While the Wii U had that asymmetrical gaming, same with the PSVR1 Playroom VR. Both wireless or connection to a console/TV for a second screen experience besides the main content on the TV). What games did or didn't benefit. How far third parties go of the mature variety/dropping a system if it doesn't make them money. That and how Nintendo commited to it while Sony killed their studios that supported the Vita and gave up (management changes didn't help if we had Furukawa in the middle of the Wii U generation I think things might have been different maybe who knows..then again I wonder how the next console is as many gimmicks were with Iwata do if we care less creative hardware I do wonder even if the NES-N64/GameCube era was pretty good and the Virtual Boy I have a soft spot for) while third parties of the AA and Indie groups helped out. Indies and some crossovers supported the Wii U well. Business relationships and crossovers. How transitioning to HD or online servers can be. How people care about something Pocket PCs, the PSP 2000/Sega Nomad and Neo Geo X have already done (to name 90/00s devices that did this already) a dock or cable to a TV. How people class a hybrid even though a console/DVD player the PS2 is a game console, CD player, DVD player and computer with Linux software kits, the Apple Pippin was a computer/console. So many things could be considered with media features and games a hybrid device technically. Same with the PDA features of the Gizmondo, Tapwave Zodiac, the Tiger Gamescom, the Ngage is a phone/game console hybrid like the Xperia Play is. The Panasonic Q as a GameCube/DVD player. The JVC X Eye a Sega Genesis with CD player support for karaoke, Sega CD games and such. So had hybrids of that type of the handhelds to the TV already. The Wii U is a hybrid Wii and Wii U the same way the GameCube support in the Wii. It's a hybrid of two consoles besides other backwards compatibility methods. Sure Nintendo handhelds used the console to connect to the TV but not a DS to the TV directly. The right and wrong ways to use dual screens but also how much potential it didn't have because of it being so locked down while phones with dial screen don't have that multiple apps loaded at once limitation. Nor did Windows 8. I like the Wii U even besides it not being as good as a proper dual app/dual game experience but is it fun regardless of not besides not being able to do those things yes. I bought one in 2018 to fill in the gap and loved it and still do. It and the Vita made me more surprised for co sole and what you can do to make things less generic. As games get standardised and kind of boring and less PS2 era experimental that I love and go back to because it's a unique times when deva still tried with ideas and with fairly standard controllers the reverse with interesting controllers and average to experimental games just makes me excited.
I managed to get into the Wii U in a very similar way to you. Prior to getting it we had last gen systems (Wii/PS3) and a current gen handheld (New 2DS XL) Once the Switch had released, used Wii U’s flooded used game shops near me so we got one for Christmas 2018 for £88. The Wii U let us continue to use our existing Wii game and accessory collection as well as a lot of current games as the Switch library at the time was primarily Wii U ports and some Wii U exclusives too.
