  • Once again I raid the dollar store for some fantastic plastic. Then I chop and glue until new. Behold my latest creation! She's alive!

    I am stunned, amazed, shocked and impressed. If I saw that on a shelf with gw miniatures I would not be able to tell that it was a kitbash. Holy cow.

    Those final faction figures are great because of the sculpt and affordability. I bought some of them for my cyberpunk game. I used them as NPC's with very little modifications. I hope dollar trees continue to add more, they are just fantastic for all genres of games.

    That was an amazing sculpting with Dollar tree finds. This is better than buying a high priced figure coming from a named brand company. The rewards are greater when you put your own creative vision and spin to something.

    Very well done! Also as a suggestion, try the Halloween bone spiders for the body from Dollar General it would have cut back on the time on the body. But I definitely want to make a Lolth of my own now!

    This was amazing to watch. I had no idea paper mache could adhere to plastic.
    The end result doesn't even look like a kitbash/diy project.
    Could have told me it's been bought as is, an original sculpt, and I'd have believed it.

    I love the commitment to cheap options. Just using hot glue instead of CA glue and modeling clay to smooth out the joins. The paintjob is pretty good for how terrible those poor brushes look.

      Me too. A spider in personality as well as form. Playing with foes and allies alike, weaving a web of political strings around her pawns. Flirting just as often as being threatening all to achieve her goals.

    I always find your videos very educational and enjoyable to watch, I don't think I've got the talent you have. I do know details that get covered are still a great idea cause you don't know what all will be visible til your done. I've dabbling in making my own washes and getting just the right mix is so hard

    Really nice Lolth model! If I were planning to run Q1 again (ran it in the early 80's, in High School), I would build her out, using your video guide. That is an incredible rendering of the Spider Queen. Thanks for the inspiration! Cheers!

    these are awesome. closest dollar tree to me is about 40 miles away. gonna have to make the trip a little more often hoping they get these in. a lot of these would be great stand alone critters for neca alien and predator dioramas.

    This looks great! I didn't even realize you made the body, thought you maybe added the armored pieces cause they seemed a lil flat in comparison to the rest of the figure, but the thorax? looked fantastic! Did a great job all in all.

    Nuln Oil is well worth the investment... I also use Basilicanum Grey Contrast for the same purpose... I do believe Gravelord Grey is the Army Painter Speed Paints equivalent of Basilicanum Grey.
    Though for Drow-skin, I'd have gone with Gryph-Charger Grey, a more greyish-blue. But that's just me.

    The sculpting is amazing, but the colours sort of smoosh together and lose the detail. I'd have made the grey parts black, or something to help contrast the purples and reds.

    Would be cool to see how you’d make treants, I’ve made a small army of them and would be cool to see your technique. I normally carve them out of foam and tap plaster onto it for a bark texture.

    What size of drill bit do you use for pinning with cocktail sticks ?

      I have no idea. I'm sorry. I usually lay the small dowel along my different bits until I find the size just slight larger, leaving room for glue.

      I let it dry over night. If you want to hurry it along you could use a heat gun.
