I’ve used Spinning reels all my life but now wanting to play this big game action I’m thankful that man mentioned about having the pad of your index finger torn off throwing a big bait from a spinning setup. Think I’ll now be looking at either a 300 or 400 casting reel. Thanks guys

What would you recommend for a heavy pulling bait reel (double 10 bucktails etc.)? Right now I’m looking at the Diawa lexa TW 400P-P, lexa HD 400PWR-P, the Okuma Komodo SS KDS-436P, shimano tranx 500, and the Diawa Prorex 400P-P. I would prefer a solid line pickup (in terms of spool size) and a gear ratio of 5.3:1 5.1:1 4.3:1 or 4.1:1

Those reels are bigger frame which helps, but I would shy away from any real high gear ratio options on hard pulling baits!

Is the Shimano Tranx 301 a good all around Musky/Pike reel? 5.8:1 or 7.6:1

I want to cast further. People recommended the lexa daiwa reel would outcast my Garcia 6601,
