Several years ago my wife and I were in Sequoia at big trees and she looked up at the trees and said, “How can anyone deny the existence of God after seeing this?”
Awwwww... I love watching the kids... Sweet Kensley... watch her ..she skips so much..her lil spirit is full of pure joy. Watching my lil man not say a word...They will NEVER FORGET. Y'ALL ARE PRECIOUS IN MY OLD HEART.
Hi folks, magnificent isn't it!!! I lived in these Sequoias half my life! I am now in my 70s. I have been very fortunate to live in these beautiful mountains..have fun and be safe..get on your hiking shoes..lol
What a trip. ❤️❤️❤️ ❤️ It is a blessing to live in a place where you can wake up and say. “So, what are you in the mood for today? Beach day? Big trees? Yosemite? Tahoe? Disney?” There are heaps of people here but we have 360° of wonder. 😊
Years ago, I spent the summer with an Aunt and Uncle just outside of those parks. They took me camping up there and I fell in love with camping and those parks. Time past and many years later I was stationed at NAS Lemoore and the opportunity to go back, still just an amazing experience. Thanks for the video, it was awesome.
I love the tour. At 73, my days of long up and downhill hiking are gone. I am SO grateful to you both to allow my wife and I to enjoy this journey. drive safe... we are praying for you all.
We hope your enjoying CA as much as we enjoy living here. In our part of CA, we can enjoy the warm beaches of Malibu, the playground of Disneyland, the race tracks in the hot desert, and snow skiing all being 45 to 90 minute drive away.
Best. Opening. Ever. Beginning with your trip to Alaska, where your videography/editing really began to shine, you have constantly showing off your new skills and just consistent excellence. This - this is different. This was a home run. Congrats, Nathan! This 90-seconds is as good as UA-cam gets. Thanks.
Those National Park gift shops, hit our wallet everytime with our kids. 😆 We just did Mammoth Cave in Kentucky yesterday. It was pretty cool, close by to where we live in Tennessee, and the kids had a blast on the cave tour. 🙂
Walking beneath the beautiful & WONDERMENT inspiring Sequoia giants is a powerful, life impressioning, and awe-inspiring experience!! *So glad you all got to experience it's magic and grateful that you shared it with us.* Spending time in such a spectacular raw, wild, wonder inspiring nature really gives life meaning and perspective. Cheers to appreciating all the countless wonders you have to appreciate on your adventures!
We love both Sequoia and King's Canyon National Parks. Breath-taking trees, beautiful scenic views, clear fresh air and nice people. We like the Southern route for scenery but it is very very winding and narrow. Better with an RV to do the Northern route. Glad you all got to see the Black Bears (older juveniles can sometimes be brown or reddish in color).
When I was a boy, my sister and I'd go to our aunt's home in Santa Cruz for Christmas. Cousins Carolyn and Douglas, their two dogs Kingsley and Kyle, would take us hiking deep into a redwood and moss filled gully. When we got back to their huge house completely exhausted and covered in mud, Aunt Sally had hot baths waiting for us. It was heaven!
isn't our nation absolutely stunning ..The Good Lord did beautiful work amazing ... the wonder in JJ's eyes so awesome and then Hensley catching the snow .. the wonder of kids ..magical
Brings back wonderful memories of our one & only trip to that amazing State in 2000. Cannot wait to go back. So much yet to see & so glad we did see those tremendous Sequoias. Northern California is stellar. Thanks for this great video, from Canada!
I’m so glad you’re enjoying the beauty and magic of my home state. It truly is one of the most diverse and beautiful places on Earth. Wait until you see Yosemite!
Loved this video so much! I remember having my picture taken in front of that tree in the mid 70’s. Definitely something you’ll never forget. JJ was so cute.. “Trees are awesome” lol
Sorry for your jeep troubles. Hopefully you can get that figured out soon. The Sequia trees are gorgeous and mystic. Looks like such a great trip and a nice way for the kids to see the World around them. Enjoy..
Welcome to California! Yeah, the weather in the high sierra is extremely dramatic and can be life threatening when not prepared for. So glad you guys are having fun with this RV set up! Enjoy!
When you go to Yosemite enter from the South Gate. You’ll love it and pay attention as soon as you’re exiting the tunnel. And driving the Coast line is a must take highway 1 and Carmel by the Sea, Big Sur is also pretty cool.
Loved the video! We dream of visiting these parks someday and seeing them through your eyes is so fun. Seeing those bear scramble up the tree was crazy!!! So sorry about the Jeep issues. Car stuff is no fun - especially while on the road. So impressed with how you have kept your chin up and powered through. We love being part of Team Journey. All our best!
I always say that you can't get bored living here in California. Drive 2 hours in any direction and the scenery, and temperature, completely changes. And yes, the mountains do get quite cold, especially at night. We consider that our summer retreat away from the Valley heat. Always dress in layers there and on the Coast.
Loving all your videos. Reminds me your style of videos when you guys were in the class A & airstream! Favorite moments of the video: when Hensley said she missed the warm weather and when JJ spotted the bears first!
I miss those beautiful state parks in California. I remember camping up in the high Sierras in early June back in the 70’s with my parents there was snow all around.. I love your videos thanks for taking us on your journey.
So glad you're enjoying our state.. in California north south east west always find something,up north are the redwoods and there used to be a tree you could drive through but it has since fallen.. California always has some type of hidden treasure to find... Keep enjoying your trip have a fantastic one
That's what I like about the Sierras: it can be 80 during the day and freezing at night All my camps in the Sierras are between 5000 and 7500. There are great trails in both parks: I grew up camping both and Yosemite.look forward to that video! Stay safe.
Great video! Glad you are getting your Jeep back but hopefully it will be all good! Don’t know what floor mats have to do with gears. But time will tell. Hopefully it will be ok. I can’t believe how cold it got in California. In May. The Sequoia’s looked nice and tall. Never seen them before until now. Thank you for this adventure. You all took a nice hike. That looked like fun as well. It was snowing there how strange is that? This was a great adventure. Thank you fir this adventure and I hope you have a great night and week and see you soon!
Beautiful scenery! California really does have an amazing variety. That Class C is turning out to be a great idea. I’m with you about the Jeep. It’s unlikely the floor mats are the problem, unless all this time the clutch has just barely had enough throw to disengage and the heat pushed it over the edge. Looking forward to the next video.
To see if it could have been the mats shifting up enough to prevent the clutch pedal from going all the way down just add some retainers that will hold the mats in place. However I think you will likely need to drive it around in town until it acts up, then have it checked over while it is acting up. Could it be that the mats are moving? Yes, but I doubt it. Without having it in my shop though it's all a guess, from the description and how it acted on the video it sounded like the clutch wasn't releasing fully. That can be caused by the pedal not having enough travel, or it could be the throw out isn't operating properly or something with the master cylinder for the clutch getting hot and possibly some air in the system not allowing proper travel. The need for it to be run a while sort of points that way, or a failing pilot bearing that is heating up and binding. You could have them shotgun the parts at it but that's $$$. How many miles are on it? Has the clutch ever been serviced?
Could it possibly be that the master cylinder getting hot (as you said) due to fact they were in Death Valley? Since that was the only place this happened……?
The matsbeing in wrong, guaranteed they were not secured right either, could for sure get behind the pedal and not allow enough travel. Next time get an auto
What the Dealership is telling you is most likely true. What I saw in your Jeep video was a clutch that was not disengaging. I thought the diagnosis was going to be a hydraulic clutch release fault. Floor mat Interference will limit clutch pedal travel thus preventing proper clutch disengagement. Floor mats can also cause the throttle to stick.
I agree, having drop manual for years if your mats get under your petal, they will interfere with shifting and that grinding just confirms it wasn't engaging properly. They were on sand, so they brought sand into the Jeep and it got under the mats and made them slip around I'm sure. The simplest answer is usually the right answer..
.When the jeep won't go in gear when stopped, shut the engine off, put the shifter in gear, push the clutch down and start the engine. If it only does it when hot, it's possible the hydraulic clutch fluid needs to be bled to get air out of the system. But then again, floor mats are a logical explanation.
Welcome to California! Another beautiful job on sharing your journey. There is SO MUCH to explore here and so much diverse beauty. Sorry about the gas prices, it's our attempt to keep the air clean and nature to cont. to thrive. -g
What a bummer….we must of just missed you all. It would of been a total blast to run into you guys. Watching your video makes me feel like I am back there. Thanks so much for sharing!
Hello there Guys what another great video love them big Trees 🌳. Beautiful... we still can't believe they can't fixed your Jeep. Its still under warranty.. Wow what another great video looks cold loll. Its nice to see you guys enjoying your time together outside. .. family memories last forever. Thanks for taking us along with you everywhere you go stay safe out there on the roads 😊 Take care God bless
Ask the dealer to adjust the clutch to disengage the clutch sooner. I bet you have more than a few inches of play in the pedal before you feel the clutch disengage. Those floor mats, installed correctly or not, should not have kept the clutch from disengaging. I think your pedal is bottoming out before the clutch is completely in neutral. Loving your National Park Adventure videos. Keep them coming!
I used to live in San Diego where the weather is perfect. Then I moved up to Bass Lake, CA before Yosemite. You have to take a winding road (not bad at all) to Bass Lake. A new to me Ducy's Restaurant opened by the lake. Old one I know burned down. Loved your video, trees, hikes, Northern CA is wonderful!!
Some of California's best offerings. Truly awe-inspiring. Those cold temps can at mile-high elevations can last well into June. Floor Mats? I wouldn't buy that either... unless it was 😂😂
We JUST (Like 1 hr ago decided to drastically change our route) and are leaving the North rim tomorrow. Headed to Sequoia and Kings canyon (rather than themighty 5). Thist is very timely!
Thanks for the video. I know that road, I drove it with my Minnie Winnie too. When we were at the Kings Canyon visitors center in mid April there was still snow around the building.
YOU GUYS JUST WAIT UNTILL YOU SEE YOSEMITE..SO AWESOME. I LIVE IN FRESNO, AND WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO WORK IN YOSEMITE FOR 3 YEARS. I STARTED AT YOSEMITE LODGE, AND THE VALLEY IS MUCH WARMER THAN SEQUOIA...I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO MEET YOU GUYS IN YOSEMITE AND SHOWED YOU AROUND..ANYWAY, ENJOY THE NATIONAL PARKS HERE IN CALIFORNIA..THEY REALLY ARE AWESOME. LOVE WATCHING YOU ALL....HAPPY TRAILS. OH, MAKE SURE YOU DRIVE UP TO GLACIER POINT. IT IS 7000 FEET ABOVE THE VALLEY AND YOU CAN SEE 3 WATERFALLS UP THERE. YOU WON'T WANT TO MESS IT..MUCH LOVE TO YOU GUYS..Judy
Oh wow, this video just came across and we were also camping in Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Park when you released this video. We were in a tent, though.
I remember driving up to see the general Sherman, just being amongst those trees was like being in a cathedral. There were very few people there that day though. California is home of the multiple outfit changes a day habit. At least in Southern California you need something warm in the morning and something a little cooler mid day and then something super cool in the evening and then something warm again at night. It’s all about layering☺️🤷🏻♀️
Take the floor mats out. They have been known to move around and get into a position to cause issues and then when you jump in and out they will move even just an inch and the problem will disappear or get worse. From watching your other videos it makes sense as the mats will not allow the clutch pedal to go all the way down
If you are still in California at this time please take the time to visit Calaveras Big Trees on Highway 4 near Arnold. Research it and see if it peaks your interest.
Here's a coffee tip kids.... make extra...put left overs in a bottle in the fridge. That way u just have to heat.. I'm in florida.. so it's one of my hurricane prep things... make it.. n freeze it.. so if no power I can always heat some up on gas or wood stove
I agree Nate, it would be hard to believe that the Jeeps problem was the floor mats, highly to 99.9% impossible. I can't wait to see how this ends! I have been looking at jeeps and will await your findings. Have fun..:)
When its 105 in the central valley (Sacramento) the coast is usually fogged in. Mark Twain said the coldest winter he ever experienced was a summer in San Francisco! High Sierra is the weekend escape from the hot valley summers!
I thought it was funny when you guys asked if this was California. I live here and I often often forget that it can get cold here, especially in the Sierra mountains. I love watching your videos because of your kids. Although we are a tent camping family, I always look for your videos if we’re visiting somewhere because of your kiddos and gauge if it’s good with our kids.
As a minimum I recommend you have the clutch system bled, you might have a little air trapped in the system causing the throwout bearing not to travel far enough to release the clutch. One bit of advice is to put the vehicle in gear then pump the clutch 4 or five times and start the jeep.
The exact same thing happened with my brother-in laws jeep and we STILL give him a hard time about it. There is some type of switch near or under the mats ....he insisted something was wrong with the transmission, had it towed while traveling ....only to discover it was the mats the entire time. An expensive lesson to learn!!
If you come to the Santa Cruz area, visit Henry Cowell Redwood State Park, for an easy stroll through more fantastic Redwoods. And/or nearby Big Basin State Park, but not sure how much, if any, will be open due to the terrible fire two years ago. Although that RV on the little narrow multi short switchback road into Big Basin will be a chore.
Typical dealer response, I've experienced a lot of issues with brand new vehicles that have problems that "can't be replicated" by the dealer. I had a 1989 Dodge Caravan that had excessive play in the steering when the ambient temperature was below 10° Fahrenheit. The dealership told me numerous times that there wasn't an issue with the steering. It started to get worse, was experiencing the problem below 20°. I went down the street at about 15 mph, jerking the wheel left and right, attempting to break whatever the problem was. I took it back to the dealership one last time, this time it was easy for them to find the reason, I had almost snapped a safety roll pin in half! The pin was there as a safety precaution in case the "press fit" on the two steering shafts failed! Hopefully your issues are gone, but, if you have the feeling in your gut, it'll return. God Bless you and your family! ❤️
You guys come to Michigan all the time when you're going up i-75 just north of grayling Michigan is a heart like pines the trees are not as big as the sequoia trees but they're over 300 years old in Michigan

Look how big they've grown so quickly. Not the trees, the two little souls you both obviously adore. Blessings all around.

Y'all should get an Aero Press for coffee when you don't have electricity. Small, lightweight and makes awesome coffee. Love your videos!

The Redwoods are the most amazing natural things I've ever seen. California is off the charts beautiful.
Beautiful. Love to hear JJ talk. Such cute children! Safe travels

So glad you are enjoying California! It really is a diverse state. And it does help to be “smallish” to get campsites in certain areas!
It really does.
Love the shorts and puff jacket combo. I screams..."all my long pants are in the dirty cloths!" Yep, been there. 😅
More like "I didn't bring any long pants."😀
Yes JJ, tress are awesome! So cute. This video was awesome too;)
Super vlog guys, the views and the waterfalls loved it. Can't believe the diagnosis on the jeep. Hope you have a fab week and take care.❤❤🇬🇧
Been there done that. So happy for you all. Enjoying the channel. Tks for sharing.

We were there and it was snowing at the top it was so neat and so quiet 🤫👏🏻
I agree Nate, it would be hard to believe that the Jeeps problem was the floor mats, highly to 99.9% impossible. I can't wait to see how this ends! I have been looking at jeeps and will await your findings. Have fun..:)
Thank you, fingers crossed!😀
When its 105 in the central valley (Sacramento) the coast is usually fogged in. Mark Twain said the coldest winter he ever experienced was a summer in San Francisco! High Sierra is the weekend escape from the hot valley summers!
I thought it was funny when you guys asked if this was California. I live here and I often often forget that it can get cold here, especially in the Sierra mountains. I love watching your videos because of your kids. Although we are a tent camping family, I always look for your videos if we’re visiting somewhere because of your kiddos and gauge if it’s good with our kids.
Thanks for sharing!!
Love the view from on top of that mountain loving your Journey
Thanks so much
It will keep getting better as you get to Yosemite.
Awesome adventure!
If you come to the Santa Cruz area,
visit Henry Cowell Redwood State Park, for an easy stroll through more fantastic Redwoods.
And/or nearby Big Basin State Park, but not sure how much, if any, will be open due to the terrible fire two years ago.
Although that RV on the little narrow multi short switchback road into Big Basin will be a chore.
Awesome family time!
Beautiful views!
It really is!
