When we were little, my parents took us 3 kids tent camping every spring in Yosemite…even if there was snow on the ground. That was a long, long time ago. Loved Yosemite back then…now it is too crowded.

What I have found it's all about timing and a little luck when it comes to the crowd, our plan was always to be there Labor day and up to two weeks after. Miss out on some of the waterfalls but will give that up for less crowds.

      Depends on when you go.
I've driven through the valley early on January and February weekday mornings and seen maybe a half dozen cars in the whole place.

The National parks have the best bike trails! We did Zion and Bryce on e-bikes in April. It was the best. Wished we had had our ebikes when we went to Yosemite! Love watching you all!

About your jeep. If your jeep acts up again and doesn’t want to go in gear, it could be your clutch slave cylinder. It’s mounted on your tranny. It’s possible fluid is bypassing the seals on the piston. The piston is what works your clutch fork.
If that’s the case, it’ll work fine on normal quick “gear
changing” but when you hold the clutch in too long (sitting in traffic or stop light) the fluid will bypass the seals. The fluid level in the reservoir will show its fine, the fluid doesn’t leek out, it stays in the system.
The true test would be to hold the clutch in for extended amount of time to see if it holds.
You can still drive it until you get the slave cylinder changed. Just don’t hold the clutch in. Hope that makes sense and is helpful. Safe travels!

Yosemite has a special place in my heart. My parents would take my brother and I there every August during summer vacation. We did this all through the 60’s…a lot less people back then. It was the highlight of our year! By the way, Mirror Lake looked a lot more like a very large mirror back them. They used to dredge the lake every year to keep it clean, but stopped doing that quite a few years ago. My father took amazing pictures of it back then!

You were mentioning Yosemite being a Happy Place. Well, when I was giving birth to both of my children, the view of Half Dome from the bridge near Curry Village was my Happy Place - - that place I concentrated on. It has always been my favorite National Park. It brings back good memories of my parents, that have all passed away, as well as good memories of our family as we would try to camp at Yosemite as much as possible. My husband and I visited Yosemite in February of 2010 so that we could experience it in the winter. It was just magical. There was mist down the valley as we were looking out from the tunnel. By the time sunset came, we were in the meadow looking up at Half Dome that was being highlighted by the sun! It was just tremendous. Thank you for sharing this video with us. It reminds me of home.

Thank you so much for this video! Our home is near Monterey, CA and Yosemite has a very special place in our hearts. It’s our favorite park and we’ve been fortunate to see it in every season. Spring and fall are beautiful but winter is stunning. In the 80’s my husband use to hang glide off of Glacier Point and land across from Cathedral beach. Riding our motorcycle through the park was always a treat. The hike to Vernal Falls is awesome but might be a bit much for the kids. There is so much to see and do. If Glacier point is open, it’s worth the drive. We are in our fifth year of full-timing and are currently visiting B.C. Your video brought tears to my eyes, I love Yosemite so much and it was great to see her in all her glory. We were so tickled to see your family in awe of this magical park. We look forward to all your video’s and especially those of our home state. Happy trails😊

29:40 is an adorable picture. My oldest had red dress shoes and a pink hat and dress she loved to wear about that age. Sometimes the cowboy boots instead, at that age they can wear anything and be adorable. Happy Father's Day , stay safe and healthy.

I use the book Mountain Directory (I think.) It was written by a trucker and shows most of the mountain grades across the US. I have the phone version. Shows the grades on the map and then you click and it has exact details - length, runaway truck ramps and which side of the highway it’s in as well as grades on both sides. East/west and north/south. Great book. The team traveled the US and documented the mountain passes.

There’s no question that Yosemite is beautiful in the spring and summer. In my opinion it’s even more beautiful in the winter when it turns into a veritable fairyland.

Yes Yosemite is spectacular. It is a nice walk up to Bridal Veil falls. The summers in Yosemite are really hot and get very crowded. Winter is cool but some of the roads into the park are closed. They do have a nice skating rink in the winter though. Talk about breath taking views with all of the snow. I have never been to Mirror Lake next time I go to Yosemite I will definitely go see it it looks like it is very pretty. Check out the Mariposa Grove which has giant Sequoias. The Wawona Hotel is an old hotel that is very cool.

I enjoyed this video so much. Years ago we lived in California and visited Yosemite. One time i really wanted to be there and I had my third child that was less than 4 weeks old. He was born in late January. The Park is open in the winter. My husband took all of us to the Park. We had a Sunrader RV. Brought a shovel to clear our site. Stayed for a long weekend. I have a picture holding my newborn and our two little girls between us standing in snow up to our knees. Wonderful memories. It was not the only time we visited. So thankful we were there.

My hubby says he isn’t sure but his jeep had a hydraulic throw out bearing issue. Sounded the same as what you are describing. There was an internal bypass that only presented when the bearing heated up and the fluid thinned out.

Took my kids to Yosemite 10 years ago. We got to the valley floor, got out of the car and stood there looking all around us. I noticed my son, 6 at the time, was weeping. I looked down and asked him, "what's wrong Bub"? He looked up and said, "we don't have anything this beautiful in Texas." Hit him right in the feels.

We just visited Yosemite a week ago. BEAUTIFUL! Those tunnels are pretty crazy. We left the 5er at our campsite outside the park. That spot "tunnel view" is stunning. In the past I've seen photos and videos of Yosemite but there is nothing like seeing it in person. Would go again! Pretty awesome that ya'll got a spot in the park. We also ripped around there with the Ebikes haha

*Ahhhh.... the wonderment inspiring wonder that is Yosemite National Park!!* So beautiful and awe-inspiring! Glad you all were able to visit and spend time in this magical place and then share your experiences with all of us! So glad you made it through that tunnel safely and intact... we felt and could easily imagine how your were feeling when you went through it! What an experience though when you get to the other side... a great example of how if you can hold on through the dark scary tunnel (like a metaphorical tunnel), the light and beauty on the other side will be brilliant and be the blessing.

Our daughter and her husband met there in Yosemite in May of 1998 as they both took jobs working there for the summer. They lived in those Conservation Corps tents and there was hundreds of workers just like them from all over the country. Our daughter came there with other friends from Las Vegas to work and he came by himself from Missouri after graduating from college to work. His goal was to climb El Captain and he did with other climbers . He has since taught her how to climb and they also are mtn bikers. He moved to LAS Vegas and they have been married since July 2000, a True Blessing for sure. You and your family appear to be having a lot of fun Enjoy and Stay safe. :)

Guess you could say that Yosemite is my Home Park. Have been coming here since I was Hensley’s age and my sister was JJ’s. Have backpacked the Yosemite high country since 1969. After a backpacking trip with my Dad he spontaneously climbed Half Dome when he was 60 and with heart problems (didn’t even tell me of his scheme). Twenty-one years later we put a photo of him climbing the Half Dome cables on his Memorial Service program. At 65 now myself I don’t see the top of Half Dome in my future. Do it while you can Marissa!

You're discovering why we live in the West. We went in the Fall and it was very nice; but waterfalls were pretty dry. Night time is awesome as well. Although we have an RV we were in a tent. Spots were much easier to procure. Not many sites for 30+ ft TT & p/u unless you're outside the park.

Spring time is THE time to see Yosemite. By late July and August the falls are dried up if the previous winter snow was not very heavy. And in the last few years there hasn't been as much snow as needed.
Marisa the top of Half Dome IS spectacular. I made it to the top on July 5, 1976. The hike up & back took about twelve hours. Coming down, in the evening, the guys I was with were singing and making noise hoping to scare away any bears that might be around. Thanks for taking my wife and I back to our favorite Park.

My first visit to Yosemite was when I was only 7 years old. My first memory of that trip was having lunch at the Bridal Veil Fall picnic area with my parents, siblings, aunt, and cousins, all while trying to fend off some rather bold stellar jays who were trying to steal our food. Growing up I lived less than 2 hours away(near Merced), now I live just a little further at 3 hours away (near Sacramento). As a Californian, I have visited Yosemite so many times and will be visiting again this summer for a backpacking trip. I've seen it in every season. Each and every time I am in awe! It simply never gets old! And yes, I too hope to get to the top of Half Dome. It's on my list of goals to achieve before my 60th birthday in 9 years. I am so glad that your family got to visit one of my most favorite places in the world. Oh, and Nathan, I had to chuckle when you said you don't get any warning on those downgrades. Live here long enough and you just learn how to drive those hills 😉

I have not been there in many years as we had lived in the Southeastern USA for a time. Now that we are West Coast I hope to get back there and tent camp or get a hotel room. In the Summer when I was a kid we all would take air mattresses (the cheap pool kind) and float down the Merced River for about 400 yards and walk back upstream and do that again - all day long. Cold water fun! P.S. I climbed the back side up to the top of Half Dome when I was 13 with my father. No permit needed back in the late 1960s.

Well I see you all made it. I told you it was awesome. This is Judy from Fresno that wrote you when you were in SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK. I might just drive up and see if I an find you tomorrow (Monday) Its about 45 miles from me. I haven't got a chance to go to Yosemite this year, but everytime I see an RVer/UA-camr there, I get homesick for her. I drive up a lot and sketch or watercolor, in the valley. Marissa, my grand daughter hiked Half Dome a few years back. An easy hike that you could do with the kids, cause it's all paved, is to do the Vernal Falls Trail. Not to far from the trail head from where you are staying. It's at Happy Isles. You can grab the shuttle and it will take you right to the trail head. They have a JR. RANGER PROGRAM hike that would be fun for Hensley at Camp Curry. I know they changed the name of Camp Curry, but I have no idea what it's called now. Hope you guys make it up to Glacier Point. Awesome views of Valley Floor up there. That is that really hight peak on the left as you are driving to Upper Pines Campground..When I worked in the park back in 1968, they used to burn hot coals all day and then at 9 PM, every night, push the red hot coals of of Glacier Point, and tell, "LET THE FIRE FALL" .I also worked there when President Kennedy flew in and landed at the
AHWANHEE HOTEL, and parked the helicopter on the golf course..Pretty neat, back in the day. The AHWANHEE HOTEL is an awesome place to visit too..Well going to bed, and maybe I will get to meet you all tomorrow..Judy from Fresno...

    Love your videos!
I don't know if you've had anyone comment on possible causes for the Jeep shifting issue but I figured I'd mention some ideas. If it does it again, turn the engine off THEN see if the trans will shift into all gear positions. If it will shift with the engine off, the problem is the clutch not disengaging when it's hot, likely due to either a failing clutch master cylinder or moisture in the clutch hydraulic system fluid, letting it boil in extreme heat conditions. That's an easy fix, just have the clutch system flushed and new fluid put in. This is something a technician would never see when it's not acting up. Good luck on your journey!!

Born and raised in California (still here)... been to Yosemite a couple of times. Don't like the crowds (LOVE it in the winter in the snow!). My son lives about 1/2 an hour away from there. Hope you saw the Giant Redwoods there. They are amazing!

The tunnels...10'2" at the shoulder. It took me several days to get comfortable with the planned drive thru them with a 12'6" fifth wheel. One of the rangers reassured me that in the center they are almost 16'. We had no problem but a lot of "pucker factor". Glad the jeep is back and you're on schedule!

We took a trip out west 22 years ago and it honestly seems like yesterday and I'll never ever forget Yosemite! Utah was pretty freaking amazing too. Travel while you're young and while we can still get gas LOL. Just sub to your channel guys really enjoyed your video. God bless. Also please never ever let your children out of your sight. Thousands and thousands of children have gone missing in national Parks without a Trace. Especially in areas where there's water granite which there's tons in Yosemite. Also warn your children if you are walking on a path if something tries to call them into the woods or lower them in not to go. It seems these things happen all too often and I'm not trying to scare you I'm just trying to give you a good heads up for your own protection. You have a beautiful family. Check out Can-Am missing channel if you want to get a heads up on this stuff.

If you ever have an issue with the jeep again you can try turning the engine off, putting it in gear and starting it in gear instead of neutral, just be ready to go in water direction you are heading when you start. It might not be the great for the clutch but it works in a pinch.

You're correct, campsites are tough to secure inside the park. That's because it's the most beautiful NP in the country, better than Yellowstone and Glacier IMO. It's small enough to see Yosemite valley by bicycle with paved bike paths to all the attractions. I've been there about 6 times in my lifetime. I always enjoy it, never gets old. Such beauty. However you must have a tolerance for lots of people, because there are always thousands during the summer. YES....it's better to visit in the Spring and Fall, having less people. Mid Oct is my favorite time.

Such fun watching you going through Wawona tunnel! I totally agree that it is the best entrance, especially if it's your first time in Yosemite. I've taken my 32 foot class C to Yosemite twice, but took Hwy 140 through El Portal. That route has a couple of rock overhangs that are pretty unnerving, so I can't imagine myself driving it through Wawona.
