Good to know, I was basically doing the exact same set up so far. You single handedly helped me understand and fall in love with Xenoblade 2, so thanks man.
As much as chain attacks in this game got me thinking "Oh, well time to spend the next couple minutes watching cutscenes." at times, there's one thing I absolutely love here: this is the first Xenoblade without any QTEs at all. I couldn't believe it at first. Saw the shrinking circle between rounds and just started pushing buttons like they'd do something for a bit, even.
Bro all of these chain attacks just TOO DAMN LONG. Especially on hard mode this shit drove me insane. Just because of this and lack of build variety in the late game (excluding awesome Soulhacker), I find XC3's combat slightly inferior to XC2's blade system. The game's story was also incredibly basic and barebones. The ending left me with this discontent and disappointment. This was a good game. But it could have been SOOO much more. Easily my least favourite in the trilogy
@@Arda-dq4rt Just in case, did you know you could end a chain attack early? I do agree it takes long to finish, but I only really use it when I'm taking on a tough foe, or I'm in a tight spot. If it's not unique and just a regular mob, I end it early after I kill it. Not sure if that's an option in XC2.
Flash fencer is a really good class to give everyone powercharge if you pair the share buffs art next to it in agnus arts. Since the art on the right goes first, the powercharge art goes then immediately shares it with the party every time you do it as a fusion (so every time you use it in the chain attack)
Perfect timing. Just unlocked the mechanic a few minutes ago. The music alone makes this peak gameplay, before even going on to how satisfying it is to rack up damage.
Having gotten a little further into the game with more classes and uroburos attacks, I have to say these are by far my favorite in the series. 1’s felt too random and poorly communicated. 2’s we’re fun, but trivialized a lot of the main game because of how easy they are to pull off. With 3, it’s just perfect. Very clear UI, requires strategy during the chain attack rather than just before it, doesn’t require never reviving a party member, and DPS that’s great, but not full burst levels of insanely busted. Not to mention the tutorials for it were so good that the only thing I was confused about was the ability to choose a character.
@@justinx3537 Yeah. Plus you can supposedly turn tutorials off. Only major issue is how restrictive they are. What if I want to put a different piece of equipment on my party member? Why do I need to go through the slow process of doing one action for every single party member? It’s weird.
@@justinx3537 if you played 2, you basically don't even need these first tutorials for 3's combat. It was literally pick up and play for me due to how much of it is the same. The waiting for recharge is still excruciating as I knew it would be early game but at least unlike one, the waiting for recharge starts eventually takes considerably less time. You have a way to speed up the auto attacks with a gem but I really wish you didn't need an item just to do that. Maxing out a class to enable faster animations makes so much more sense.
This games chain attack system makes the first 2 games look like a 1+1 equation holy crap, thanks for the guide I probably would have been completely lost otherwise
I’ve watched this video 5 times and I’ve practiced chain attacks with several different lineups (only in ch.3 atm) and at level 24 I was able to put out 270,000 damage with a 4 stage chain attack. You’re an absolute legend man. Love the videos, guides, content, just all of it. Keep up the good work and I’ll keep watching and eventually I’ll quit exploring and move on in the game 😅
Now this is definitely the video I need. Chain attacks are fun and I think I sort of understand how they work but not enough to fully take advantage of them
What I would recommend for beginners to chain attacks is definitely Isurd, given he can garuntee a Bravo rating no matter what if he finishes a chain order, it’s a great crutch for people to use to get acquainted with the mechanics and he joins relatively early compared to Ashera and Segiri, other good chain attack heroes.
And then there’s the postgame Attacker hero. She… has a Chain Order that does the same as Eunie’s, dropping enemy Ether Defense by 50 percentage points; and has a Heroic Chain that makes it possible for another character to act even if she made the TP gauge exceed 100%. not to mention you’ll be listening to a banger battle theme.
Isurd is great if you want to use the same character every round because you can Bravo in two actions and get both back. This comes with the benefit of keeping TP low for the rest of the party, so you can use them all without going over in the final round when damage ratio is highest.
Proud to say I figured out quite a few mechanics here just by experimenting or the tutorial gave me. The positional thing is such a good QOL thing, especially with Noah's side break art.
Gotta close my eyes and type “enel xenoblade 3” in the UA-cam search bar since on previous games I was spoiled by other channels and video suggestions trying to learn Xeno2 combat, not making that mistake again lmaoo Enel holding it down for us appreciate you bro
Back at it again with the XC content. I have no doubt the content will be just as informative as they were during the XC2 days. Looking forward to future uploads
Awesome video as usual. The cap being removed makes me super excited for what kinds of enemies they have planned for end game/dlc. Maybe they can make some truly scary bosses
Enel, you're a life saver. Was just about to look it up online about how do Chain Attacks work in this game. Why did they have to change it after I finally figured out how it worked in XC2 lol? Gonna watch this later
Glad I watched this to get a better understanding of chain attacks. As usual, I have to look online to make sure I know what I’m doing because half the time I do not know what I’m doing.
Damn, the highest damage multiplier I've gotten is 500%. Buff management is pretty important, I hadn't really put much thought on that. Teach is a discount Ashera with a similar effect when you use him in a chain attack, instead of getting a guaranteed 200 TP, you get 150, so for those not far enough along to get Ashera you can use Teach.
Thanks for the guide! I just unlocked Chain attacks, so I'l have to review things once I'm more comfortable with the system. This is a very interesting new system~
Bruh i never could've thought about the power charge strat even if i don't have signifer yet (the silhouettes on the class menu spoil the weapons anyway lol). Glad to see my suspicions of Ashera being broken for chain attacks confirmed even further Can't wait for the speedruns with all this RNG :)
This is a REALLY helpful video! I love the new chain attack system, but it's been a bit rough to learn, especially since I just recently got Ouroboros Chain Orders and had no idea how the Faiz to activate them! I'm sure with a bit of practice now, I'll be dishing out some insane numbers! Thanks a ton, Enel!
Thanks for this, I was very disappointed in my first few chain attacks. I didn’t know about a lot of these mechanics. Like getting bravo’s and amazing to get more units back. I must have not payed attention well enough when it was introduced
Best part about watching these while painstakingly waiting for my game to arrive is that ill be able to enjoy the combat quickly and focus on the godtier story
I've been having good results with Riku and Manana in chain attacks. Their ability to boost the next character's tp is great, plus their order giving the party tp is just useful. I can crank out amazings like they're nothing with them.
I'm actually a little surprised Fiona doesn't get a mention. Maybe it's because she's a bit inconsistent in that you only get unlucky and end up with 4 orders instead of the 6 that you'd want to get with her.
This game’s chain attacks might lack the goofy little QTEs (for better or worse) but I think these have become my favorite in the series by far. Just when I think this mechanic couldn’t be more satisfying they top themselves yet again, in true Xenoblade fashion.
Enel coming in clutch again with an amazing guide! Maybe I just haven't gotten used to XC3 yet, but I kind of miss shattering orbs during chain attacks in XC2. Also, maybe I haven't played enough XC3 yet, but I kinda miss all the different blades we could use. But maybe there are still a lot of different play styles depending on the classes we choose.
Man the work you do in all these videos are amazing, helped me back in xc2 and definitely helped me here. Truthfully grateful my guy thank you for all your content!
It's important to note that you must control the level 3 interlinking characters to activate the special chain attack, otherwise you just get a normal chain attack.
@ 10:00 So THAT'S why sometimes I can do 4 Rounds, and other times I can't! That explains SO much, thank you! And yikes, I thought I was pretty decent at Chain Attacks since I consistently get 300k values and/or one shot bosses with them after unlocking Ouroboros Orders, but like... That 13 million one you showed at the start, holy shit yo. :o I REALLY love this chain attack system. There's so much going on, and so much potential to unleash insane combos... And it's always fun to build up to a full meter by just focusing on a boss's missions, and then you just pivot to the boss and gang up on them mercilessly. XD
I hope you can do a generalized guide on classes soon. For instance, Zeon's class does more damage when "awakened", and I know what the awakened status is, but not how to get it on Zeon's class if I want to change the talent art on Noah. Just general stuff like that.
thank you for explaining this, especially the ourboros arts, I genuantly thought they were random and got annoyed each time I didnt get one and now I know why that was the case, also something that I found working is trying to do a smash near the end of the chaiin attack, with the damage bonus and all it does insane damage
Segiri seems good too. I can an amazing rating of over 600 and total dmg bonus of 1441 with her. Ashera is easier tho but depending on team segiri is bonkers with constant amazing except 1st round. I like Fiona too and she gives an extra round. Great tips and ideas like the power charge thanks.
just wanted to say, happy these videoes exist. gonna check em when i hit post game since this game is actually good at explaining stuff for the normal playthrough
Idk about 1 and X, but the fun of 2 and 3 is to see how far you can do with the multitude of attacks and combos. So far it's not as fun yet, but I just know once I unlock more options the damage will get crazy, and pleases my dopamine receptors.
You can make X's not a chain attack infinite. With the right defensive setup you can literally solo pretty much anything with weak weapons and skills, as your damage will eventually scale to millions anyway.
@@Ayeato um, yes. Kinda figured that. Hence why i mentioned X's chain attack thing being infinite - supplying knowledge he didn't know... Kinda agree with him, nice to see them fat numbers.

I have a question: sometimes when a character gets 'reactivated' they'll have a blue triangle mark in the bottom right of their icon. What does this signify?
You can see this happen at 7:17 in the video, it is denoting that the unit was targeted by the tank role bonus of returning the party member with the highest TP.
@Enel you are my xenoblade 3 bible. I learned how to play the game much more effectively to the point where I can start doing stupid challenge runs like 5 healers one tank for the whole game

@@theonesithtorulethemall I loved that build up feeling being rewarded but I'd only rank it below 3s because of the other aspects that feel out of your control which comes primarily from your other party member's actions

Ok two things you cleared up for me The second ouroboroa order method doesn't need to be consecutive And the numbers are their contribution to the TP of the order used Thank you good sir
Thanks for this. I initially was pretty underwhelmed by the chain attack system, as all I thought there was to it was: Use attacker first always -> use big numbers that won't go past 100% -> use healer to cap at 99% -> finish with whatever you have left -> repeat exactly the same every time I guess I should have known after casually playing the other two main entries that if a system seems that simple and boring it means that 1.) I just didn't understand it fully and should look up a UA-cam video, and 2.) There are probably other mechanics that fit into the system which I don't have access to yet. Appreciate it!

Hey that's true... No QTE! I don't think they added to the experience imo.
Honestly I'm glad there are no QTE. Never liked them in the first place.
@@Arda-dq4rt
Just in case, did you know you could end a chain attack early? I do agree it takes long to finish, but I only really use it when I'm taking on a tough foe, or I'm in a tight spot. If it's not unique and just a regular mob, I end it early after I kill it. Not sure if that's an option in XC2.
Flash fencer is a really good class to give everyone powercharge if you pair the share buffs art next to it in agnus arts. Since the art on the right goes first, the powercharge art goes then immediately shares it with the party every time you do it as a fusion (so every time you use it in the chain attack)
Been refreshing your channel every hour since yesterdays combat video. Great guide as always thanks!
While it’s a barrage of tutorials in the beginning 3 does a lot better at communicating the mechanics to the player more than 2 imo
Okay now I’m waiting for each class guides. Given how diverse and unique each class can be, I’m excited for you to get in depth for us.
I’ve only done a few chain attacks and I haven’t been the best with them, thanks for this video.
Later in the game now and I feel like a chain attack master. Able to constantly beat up my enemies while reaping the rewards of over killing
Can't wait to see an in-depth video from you regarding the viability of all the classes! I trust no one else lmao
Now this is definitely the video I need. Chain attacks are fun and I think I sort of understand how they work but not enough to fully take advantage of them
Thank you so much Enel! I actually gave myself a headache trying to understand chain attacks from the game's tutorials. This was immensely helpful!
Was waiting for this! Thank you so much. I was just doing chain attacks and didn't really get the usefulness of the Healers' 99 cap.
He also has a very high base TP at 40, and can be restocked unlike Ashera. He's really never a bad pick for chain attacks.
And then there’s the postgame Attacker hero.
She…
has a Chain Order that does the same as Eunie’s, dropping enemy Ether Defense by 50 percentage points;
and has a Heroic Chain that makes it possible for another character to act even if she made the TP gauge exceed 100%.
not to mention you’ll be listening to a banger battle theme.
Gotta close my eyes and type “enel xenoblade 3” in the UA-cam search bar since on previous games I was spoiled by other channels and video suggestions trying to learn Xeno2 combat, not making that mistake again lmaoo
Enel holding it down for us appreciate you bro
It will never surprise me the amount of mechanics and nuances monolith will hide in their combat
This helped a lot. I wasn’t paying attention to the gauge in the bottom right and was questioning the length of my chain attacks. Great video.
Enel, you're a life saver. Was just about to look it up online about how do Chain Attacks work in this game. Why did they have to change it after I finally figured out how it worked in XC2 lol? Gonna watch this later
OH YEAH BABY
Thankfully the UI is 50x better than 2’s (seriously, I love 2, but its UI can go fuck itself).
@@yasser9399 It's gonna be a wild ride...
Have been watching since your XC2 guides and these have been even more useful! Thanks and keep up the hard work I appreciate you
You're a true G and a pillar of this community, Enel!
I thought that was Isurd and Teach gives the rest of the party plus 10 TP.
Thats Isurd
I think the highest i’ve gotten was either 850% or 1050% but I don’t remember which one really.
Glad to see my suspicions of Ashera being broken for chain attacks confirmed even further
Can't wait for the speedruns with all this RNG :)
I was wondering why I kept getting stuck at 99%! That clears up a lot of stuff, and now I'll be able to better plan. Thanks for the guide. :)
Best part about watching these while painstakingly waiting for my game to arrive is that ill be able to enjoy the combat quickly and focus on the godtier story
Awesome video! I was trying to figure out what triggered an Ouroborus order, and it turned out to be so simple. Thank you!
Chain attack in xc3 feels like doing mathematic mad things and i love it so much
This is an incredibly indepth and helpful video
I assume, I'm still speedrunning Xenoblade 1 before 3
I've been having good results with Riku and Manana in chain attacks. Their ability to boost the next character's tp is great, plus their order giving the party tp is just useful. I can crank out amazings like they're nothing with them.
Thanks for the guide been waiting for someone to explain this game's systems since it is my first xenoblade
I'm actually a little surprised Fiona doesn't get a mention. Maybe it's because she's a bit inconsistent in that you only get unlucky and end up with 4 orders instead of the 6 that you'd want to get with her.
I just discovered you today and I've been on a very enjoyable binge of your videos. Thanks for the brilliant, easy to follow content!
This game’s chain attacks might lack the goofy little QTEs (for better or worse) but I think these have become my favorite in the series by far. Just when I think this mechanic couldn’t be more satisfying they top themselves yet again, in true Xenoblade fashion.
The QTEs in XC2 were pointless cancer. Annoying, repetitive, and boring.
The only thing I miss is a random voice out of nowhere screaming things like MARVELOUS!!! and AMAZING!!! each time a combo happens lol
@@Tetragramix You know you could turn those off if you wanted to, right?
@@lucasdellamaggiore
SAY WHAT?! That an option under settings, or is it tied to DLC?
8:07 I feel called out
Great video, I'll probably watch all the new ones in a few days (after finishing the game)
I learned a few very useful tips from watching the video! Thanks for making a guide to this.
Best thumbnail yet tho
@ 10:00 So THAT'S why sometimes I can do 4 Rounds, and other times I can't! That explains SO much, thank you!
And yikes, I thought I was pretty decent at Chain Attacks since I consistently get 300k values and/or one shot bosses with them after unlocking Ouroboros Orders, but like... That 13 million one you showed at the start, holy shit yo. :o
I REALLY love this chain attack system.
Thanks so much for this guide. Didnt realise how much i misunderstood how it works this time around till watching.
Dude probably hasn’t slept since the game came out
just wanted to say, happy these videoes exist. gonna check em when i hit post game since this game is actually good at explaining stuff for the normal playthrough
@@KeithElliott-zd8cx i think hes saying he didnt play 1 and x
@@Ayeato um, yes. Kinda figured that. Hence why i mentioned X's chain attack thing being infinite - supplying knowledge he didn't know...
Kinda agree with him, nice to see them fat numbers.
@@KeithElliott-zd8cx ah my bad I thought you understood his comment as him saying 1 and x's chain attack equivalent was unfun.
@@Ayeato no, seemed to me he started by saying he 'didn't know' about 1 and x, but talked about how fun it was in 2 and 3.
At no point did he seem to shit on one or x, so i didn't jump to a conclusion that he meant their system ill, just 'wasn't talking about them'.
I merely followed up with 'x is pretty fun too'.
Really happy to have a guide as I have been really fumbling through chains. Going to wait until I have access to Ouroboros chain to finish for spoiler reasons but the first part is definitely super useful.
Is it just me or does it lack sound?
Same
Same here
Apparently youtube app or mobile is having issues? Should hopefully be fixed soon.
@@EnelXC Would have been a funny troll/prank if you made it without sound, then the last 10 seconds just say something like "and that whould be everything you need to know to maximise your chain attacks in Xenoblade 3!"
@@EnelXC can hear it fine, now.
very good guide even after 70 hours of indulging with this system, this helped me in 2 ways what were inconsistencies and I didn't understand before: The Hero order is always free + after your chain bar is empty you can still get your ouroboros off, very cool thats 2 more consistent rounds, thank you greatly!
Use medics to get the chain combo close to 99% and then go all out with the high chain combo units.
So good. I mostly got it all by experimentation but there was some details I was missing. Thanks a bunch!
my brother in christ, the game has been out for a day
Great video! I think I'm going to have to watch it a few times during my playthrough.
I personally rank this game's combat as top of the main three because it feels like you have much more control over the fight even though the other two have fun specialized mechanics
Obviously ill have to get more of a hang over it tho but its enjoyable
I miss the elemental stuff from 2, but this does feel clean. I agree with you there.
@@jacobmitchell2085 yeah, in to they made it feel like everything you did build up to the chain attack, noch its jsut about filling that meater
@@theonesithtorulethemall I loved that build up feeling being rewarded but I'd only rank it below 3s because of the other aspects that feel out of your control which comes primarily from your other party member's actions
I haven’t advanced very far yet, but are you eventually able to cancel arts into arts like in XB2?
@@thekingofspeed8960 I am not sure yet either. I'm level 37 and not yet, but Enel said in one of the vids that you eventually get the capability to do so. I'm looking forward to it.
Good guide. My current damage record is 1,830,909 since watching this and im only level 57. This is hands down the most fun chain attack system in the series imo.
I haven't figured out the chain attack perfectly yet but once I realized why certain aspects worked the way they did I had a great "aha!" moment that I haven't felt in a loooong time. It was that satisfaction of suddenly understanding how a math formula or Zelda puzzle works. So much fun!
It is about time. Love your videos!!
no audio :(
This breakdown is so helpful! Thank you!
I love the new chain attack system, it's so damn satisfying.
Ok two things you cleared up for me
The second ouroboroa order method doesn't need to be consecutive
And the numbers are their contribution to the TP of the order used
Thank you good sir
Thanks for this. I initially was pretty underwhelmed by the chain attack system, as all I thought there was to it was:
Use attacker first always -> use big numbers that won't go past 100% -> use healer to cap at 99% -> finish with whatever you have left -> repeat exactly the same every time
I guess I should have known after casually playing the other two main entries that if a system seems that simple and boring it means that 1.) I just didn't understand it fully and should look up a UA-cam video, and 2.) There are probably other mechanics that fit into the system which I don't have access to yet.
Appreciate it!
How to know if that particular big numbers won’t go past 100%?
Man, I went nearly all game without understanding chain attacks. I was wondering when it goes over a hundred and when stops at 99%.
Thank you for clearing that up.
