Happy Christmas and New Year to all the P,s.All the best.
I like the designs and engineering involved in the English mowers but like the American style mowers more when I watch you work through pulleys and tensioners.
And by the way a merry Christmas and a great new year to you and your family. 🎄⛄👍
Same to you!

Thanks, you too!
Enjoyed the video mick. great job
Ta mate
I’m doing a part restore of a Balmoral 17s too Mick. Just dismantled the cutting cassette and am de-rusting and painting the cylinder and bottom blade. Would love to watch the pulley replacement and the cowl off work. Cheers buddy. 👍🏼
Ok cool.. will be after Christmas mate
Hi Mick, interesting video. It would be interesting to find out how you fix the E start. I have the same mower and my starter has never worked. I haven't got the original battery but I tried it using a external battery but it said nothing. It would be nice to get it working?
Best regards Steve from Germany.
What is the name of the orange tray you use Thank you micks
Hi Mick, Really appreciate your videos. I have a small shop and some of your videos have saved me a great deal of aggravation at times.
A quick question though: Why is it that most of the mowers in the UK have rollers on the back instead of wheels.
It's just an English thing.. we have had rollers since 1800s..
@@themowerman I love that... it's an English thing, you wouldn't understand. 🤣
Tecumseh! Ya Baby!!!!!!
Lol
Hi Mick, thank you for your great videos, with your advice you have helped me keep my old Suffolk punch going. I have now got a couple of parts that I need. Please could you tell me where I can get them. 1 is the silver wheel that picks up the belt to turn the cylinder and the other is the red safety lever on the handle to engage the blade. Thank you for your help in advance, kind Regards Andy
Yo yo .. ok so they do two different parts... For the belt pulley... Email me a photo of the side so I can see what part you need I will find you the other part.. micksmowers01@gmail.com
Here is a second hand one.. about £10 cheaper... If you need a new one they are about £31.. but you get all the bits with this one.. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/295803420319?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Up6JrDNeRy6&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=VxofTcWjS-2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Ahh Mick you are a legend thank you so much. I like the look of those Cobras but not at the moment lol, here’s a picture for you.
I can’t seem to add a pic
Please can I email you the picture
Thanks Mick, followed this video + put everything in an ultrasonic cleaner, mower started first pull on rebuild.
Do you have anything regarding the electric key start with the Balmoral 17se...? swapped new battery but nothing when turn key, not even a starter motor solenoid click, if there is one..?Happy to strip it down, just dont really know what to look for. Thanks
Check the wire at the key end.. they can become discounted
thanks, i'll give it a try@@themowerman
Hi Mick! Great content on your channel!
Being from Denmark, we very rarely see mowers of the same quality as Allett , Atco or Massport (Only see reel mowers without the roller in the back and wheel instead - See Gudenaa mower). I've been very lucky as to have found one imported from UK to here.. But I have a question for you, wich I don't think I've seen answered clearly anywhere..
The Balmoral I've got, has a 6-blade cartridge, but in the upcomming season, I would like to start cutting my lawn a bit tighter!
Does the Allett Kensington 10-blade cartridge fit onto the Balmoral models? Some places say yes, others say no.. Could you help a brother out, answering that question?
All the best
-Thomas
Hi Thomas.. yes they fit.. as long as it has the big white gear on the side.. that are all the same..
@@themowerman Thank you SO much for the swift response!
@@SyQuezt your welcome my friend
Just a quick question on the grass comb. The 17SE I'm working on at the moment has an adjuster for the height of the comb. At the highest level it is above the level of front roller. Do you think Atco did this to make it easier to switch from blade to scarifier and back again or do you think they expected everyone to remove the comb?
Remove it when sacrificing mate
Hi Mick do you have any service kits or needle valve seal etc for this type of carb please? link in exchange for a wish list item please.
I don't mate I'm afraid..
Tell. your little man merry Christmas 🎄 I've got a video on my sthii back pack blower the br 400 just got in to make it behave yourself Mick the reel mower man 🤣
Happy holidays!
@@themowerman same to you and your family young man 👍😎
cotton bud, yah plonka
Same thing lol
Hey mate I'm really struggling getting at the starter motor on my 17SE. When you repaired yours did you take off the engine because there is a bolt at the bottom of the black casing that I can't get to. I need to remove all of the black casing to get to the cogs. Any help appreciated 👍
Hi mate .. I believe I just loosened the front ones and tipped the engine back a little..
Just picked up the 17s.. looks to be ok
@@themowerman thanks Mick I'll give that a go.
Hi mick what is the name of the orange tray you work on for cleaning carbs and xmas to all the family
You can find them on Amazon mate ..
Silicone tool try
Once again Mick, thanks for a great video. Always welcome. I was also wondering if you have any spare time, you might have a look at junkyarddog85. He is a Aussie country boy, tries to get old machines running. He is also down to earth so maybe a little bit of aussie lingo.
I will check him out
Can you send me a link I can't find him
@@themowerman I can only get him as junkyarddog87 on youtube. . Keep up the videos. always good to
watch.
Good video, and the idler pulley is definitely toast, these mowers are non existent in north America, or not commonly sold or used. I bought an ultrasonic cleaner with heater for cleaning small parts, your method seems to work just as well.
Yeah you can now get the same mower called allett now in your part of the world..
Take it apart
