  • Heey, welcome to my Portugal packing video! 🥰 I'll show you how I pack for 2 weeks in a small backpack, as I'm traveling only with a personal item. When flying with Ryanair, you're only allowed to pack a small backback = a personal item free of charge, so that's what I'm doing. Packing for a 2-week trip in only a 25 liter backpack is definitely a challenge. 😆
    I'm used to traveling light and packing a carry-on only (my Osprey Farpoint 40l) but this time I'm traveling with a personal item only. For this 2-week trip in Portugal, I'm bringing my new Osprey Sportlite 25-liter backpack. This video will hopefully be helpful for anyone traveling in Europe, and especially for those wondering what to pack for Portugal.

    Great packing video! You fit a lot into that small bag. Did it fit easily under the seat?
    I’ve been looking for a smaller bag like this that has a hip belt, not many this size do. Did you find it comfortable to carry? Did the hip belt effectively transfer a lot of the weight from your shoulders to hips?

    • @MillaExplores
      @MillaExplores  Рік тому +2

      Thanks Amie! ☺️ Yes it fits surprisingly much haha. And yes, it did fit under the seat, definitely on the limit but I didn't have any issues! This Osprey Sportlite 25l is super comfortable to carry even when it's full like mine in this video so I would highly recommend it. I've been using this backpack for day hikes now as well and it's so comfortable. I love it. I think the hip belt works well. 😊

    • @dean6126
      @dean6126 Рік тому +2

      There are smaller Sportlite models but the 15L and 20L versions only have a strap without cushioning. The thing with hip belts is that the pack has to have a certain height so the hip belt sits correctly. Smaller packs are also less tall and since the load is smaller (meaning lighter), transferring weight to hips gets less important…
      Check out bike models, especially from Deuter or Vaude, they often have hip belts.
      I don’t know how small you want it to be but maybe take a look at Deuter AC Lite 16 or 17 (different styles despite the similar volume), Deuter Compact EXP 14 (expandable to 19L) or Race X or Race X Air (different back panels).
      I don’t really know any small Vaude packs of the top of my head, but the Wizard is also available in smaller sizes, I think 24+4 and even 18+4? I do remember a ridiculous amount of their backpacks having hip belt though. I personally hate them on smaller packs haha
      Osprey has lots of different new packs, I guess also some smaller ones with hip belts as well, but I don’t know any of the top of my head.

    I ll be tking 30l as a carey on nd another 30l weightless daypack s prsonl item, it s not the cost I just never want my bag to be lost as last time, where I am it s too. The actuwl main bag weighs 0.5 l unfilled of course n a ditinctive postcard print so noone can mistake it! Am not sure how can weight bear as asthmatic ad need to pack a lot of meds and qarm things too ❤ I loathe the plugs from Uk they weigh so much 3 in and old fashioned. Also in search of tongs curler all in 1 travel size!

    • @MillaExplores
      @MillaExplores  7 місяців тому

      That sounds like a good plan! Meds and other necessities like that can be a hassle when traveling but there's no way around it unfortunately. For the plugs, I highly recommend getting a charger that can charge many devices at once. I have a Ugreen charger like this one: amzn.to/45jxy0R - it can charge my macbook, drone, phone and everything else, all at once. It's such a space saver! Then you just need one power adapter for abroad of course :)

    Wow… impressive that Ryanair really let it pass? Would it pass in 2024 feb? You think?
    We are going to Mallorca for 1 week on Sunday. 2 adults. 4 kids. All just bringing a personal item bag. Bought bags on Amazon with the exact Ryanair dimensions. But our bags are a lot smaller than your 25 L Osprey bag.
    So you think it would pass today?

    • @MillaExplores
      @MillaExplores  3 місяці тому +1

      I'd still try today, but often it depends on the airline staff member. I always try but I am prepared to pay if needed (which has only happened on very rare occasions). And some staff members don't care as much as others. But I've been able to even take my 40l Osprey backpack on a ryanair flight as a "personal item" haha 😄
