There's a great OSL script from Silverwing aka Raphael Rau, that let's you shift the hue dynamically based on the random color node, thus being even more flexible.

@@florenaux youre welcome! Really liked your approach as well, since it is not dependent on an OSL script.
Would there be a way to randomise between different texture maps? Ex: for your tree, choose a random texture map among three different ones for trees.
Maybe if you do a combine material with sub material, not sure I would have to try!
