Do you have dimensions/plans for this?

    • @northwiebesick7136
      @northwiebesick7136 3 роки тому

Would it be possible to do this with an actual router, that has a switch??? Perhaps, (using a battery powered router as an example) by idk, locking a battery operated router into the on position, and getting a cordless battery connector, to hook to an empty battery shell, or something like that, and have a switch in between for turning on the unit, then you would have a unit that you can use elsewhere, likely, yet possibly still have all those benefits that you mentioned. I was thinking about getting a battery operated router, if I could find one that supports being used in a router table, and I guess, if I had to, I wouldn't mind using a plan like this, but with 3 sides, while keeping a frame on the open side for more stability, and with the open side, I would be able to access the switch, if I had to. Also, I wouldn't need the fence, for most of the things I would like to use the router table for, if I ever decided to build one...
**Edit** even though you said it was a sealed box, I just got to the part where you made doors for it, so that part of my comment is covered, I guess...😂😂

Love the DIY videos but I don’t know about other people but I would love to see a 4-5 part series of this actually being built step by step not just highlights with music. Even if you had a Patreon I’d jump all over that. Some parts of the build seem uncomplicated but others I’m scratching my head. Just a thought but I do enjoy your videos.

AN UNSOLICITED TESTIMONIAL: I bought a couple of K-M stops because they looked like they’d work well. They are all that and a bag of chips! Cool tip on using the router to enlarge your dust collection hole, I would have made a quick trip to H-D for a hole saw I’d probably never use again. Thank you Jonathan for all you do! Stu

Nicely done Johnathan. Because my shop (corner of a garage) has such limited space, I built mine as a side extension to my table saw and shares the fence. Wish I had the space for a dedicated router table nice setup.
On epoxying the t-track - chew up the outside/underside corners of the aluminum- it’ll ad some mechanical tooth for the epoxy to hold onto.

The video is well done and clearly extensively edited. Would have liked to see longer duration views of details and more discussion of critical design issues. For example, I would guess that two layers of 3/4 inch baltic is not going to sag under the weight of the router. The box enclosing the router and left definitely seems to cut down on sound. Would like to have had more information on how the dust collection works and again more pictures of the finished project from all angles.

I am in the process or building this router table now. But I already have a Triton router that has the built in lift. I also have a jessem router table top. Long story short I also have a Kreg router fence, so I am trying to coble all of this together and make it work. I have to have access to the router under the table to access the locking lever, and I think the on off switch I think because of a locking mechanism on the switch cover. So the front of the router box will actually be a door. Anyway I am a big fan, bought your plans a while back you had a sale and offered a bunch of your plans for a great price and I took advantage. Keep on trucking. 😎

Love the idea, haven’t been ready to swallow the cost for the router lift and the bigger HP router. Someday… someday.

Very nice to see the paste wax wood food being rubbed in. Most videos these days either don't show and/or don't use it.

I'm just in the planning stages of building a router table, so this is great! I'm curious was there a reason you didn't have a slot for a miter gauge? I'm trying to decide if that's something I need or not. thanks!

I believe that Rockler has the T-track with countersunk holes already in them. That might be another solution if you one doesn't want to "drill" any holes in their "T-track". That's where I always get mine from, haven't had to get any for a long time now though. I like the fact that Bits an bits coat there router bits. If I ever get time off from work, will be ordering one of those dovetail jigs of yours and maybe even that stop block. Cheers :)

Jonathan, you gave credit to a fellow woodworker for the idea to widen a hole. I have seen him do the same thing. What I came across recently may be interesting?? I observed that it appeared as a tip in the April 1991 (Issue #74) of the Woodsmith magazine. It seems that some woodworking techniques are tried & true, and some just keep popping up now and then from somewhere!

You know that Dewalt plunge router base has dust collection run through the big black compression sleeve. Took me a few uses to figure that out.

Any recommendations since you had this for awhile on anything changes? Thank you for the video and I look forward to receiving your products.

I like how the T track crosses the whole table, they could be used for a sled to pass over the bit with a box joint jig etc.

Great build ! I really liked the hole saw/ rabbet bit trick for enlarging the holes. That could be used multiple times if necessary. I noticed you didn't include a miter track in front of the router plate. Wouldn't that help for doing 'cross cut' types of profiles, like ends of rails or stiles? Curious as to your thought process.

As a novice, I have learned so much what not to do. Thank you! I am no longer going to use t-track. Instead I will be using the MatchFit system. Your design appears to be one that Matchfit will be a great alternative. Your stop block would also be able to be used with their track design. What do you think about the use of such a system on your table design?

Wow, impressive JKM, if I didn't have Kreg table already this would be the ticket. Like the Jessom lift. Any issues changing bits? Will be looking at retrofitting some ideas. Everything you do is top notch, thanks for the video.
