When you're comfortable with a toxic lifestyle, as oxymoron that may sound, it can be difficult to settle for a 'healthy' lifestyle because your comforts have been removed. Either because your toxic lifestyle was how you copped or you have no reason to do the things you did to cope anymore.

Exactly. People don't intentionally make things difficult for themselves. Destructive habits usually have some sort of vital purpose they were serving. Changing behavior typically involves finding a healthier way to satisfy whatever need the destructive habit was doing.

It's crazy how you dropped this on the day I start my weight loss journey. Didn't think I could ever relate to Vegeta

You got this! Remember it's a journey. Success is more about the lifestyle than the destination. So falling in love with the process will serve you well 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

Honestly, it can even be addictive to a degree.
I will have periods of self-loathing and depressive episodes where I'll want nothing more than to stay in bed for the next few days.
The self-deprecation can be such a drug, bordering on the side of debauchery, if not for my resolve to eventually pull myself together and hold myself accountable.
Often times, it can just be easier to falsely accept that the worst version of yourself is all you'll ever be and you can rest in that.
Because, as you said, that better version of yourself that you can strive for is a stranger to you, someone unfamiliar.
Maybe your lesser version will drag you down to hell, but is it truly that bad when hell is all you know?
    Really beautiful short.
