How to order Nasi Kandar like a pro(by a random Mat Saleh):
1. Find a place to sit
2. Shout "Abang"! (Because Mamak stalls are not a silent place)
3. When ask "Order apa" just say Nasi Kandar
4.You pay him before you get your service.
5. You forgot to say what type of Nasi Kandar you want
6. Just pray that you get a good one.(All Malaysian foods are good)
We don’t shout “Abang”, we shout “Aneee!” Or “Bhaiyyaaa!” 😂😂😂

So, if you want to order at a similar place or situation, after saying "makan" to indicate eating in, you can also point and say "itu" (いtwo) which means "that" or "ini" (いに) which means "this". "Sikit" (seek-it) means little and "lagi" (lah-ghee) means more, "kurang" (く-ran) means less. And "cukup" (chuu-coop) means enough though most understand OK if all else fails. 😁 Good job ordering at Mahbub! Hope you get to try and enjoy a lot more food!

you're both doing so well! i plan on moving to malaysia before the end of this year so you're both giving me hope that i can learn the language too! i'm a native english speaker but it's the respectful thing to do and i'm looking forward to it, but i totally understand being nervous about ordering from locals like this. good luck to you both, hope that if you aren't living in malaysia now, that you will be soon. seems you've found a good home there.
Malaysian here as well as a native English speaker, you'll mostly survive with English no problem but you'll have to learn how to order food in their native language, which isn't that hard to pick up at all.
English is widely spoken in Malaysia.
the majority of us understands English just fine. No pressure in learning the local language anyway.

I was working in Taiwan for 3 years and lost weight 'til I was 65kgs. Ever since I returned to Malaysia 2 years ago, my weight swelled up to 75kgs! Jimmy, as long as you're in Malaysia with iChang, you're gonna be putting on at least a lil' bit of weight. Because the food in Malaysia is so *GOOD* !

When i was a kid 25 years ago. I love doing what jimmy doing. Separating chicken/fish/beef from rice when eating mixed rice. Home or restaurant... its true. Eating mixed rice with teh ais makes the tummy bold.. hahaha.. u have to order air suam(plain water) to drink little during eating. And only drink teh ais 5 minutes after finish eating mixed rice. And we dont get big tummy..
