  • Here are easy instructions from your friends at RSI to hardwire a 240 Volvo's taillight. The whole area around the circuit board on 240 sedans and coupes gets corroded over the years. You can bypass the corroded system and upgrade to direct hardwiring.

Great idea but wish you had more detail on the last and probably most important part. Once you wired the individual bulbs you have to connect them to the car's wiring harness connector. That part was too brief and fast you should do a second video just on that part. Thank You

Thanks! I'm gonna do this mod right away. It seems as many times I tinker with the tail lights they always seem to eventually fail again. In my case it seems that the plastic console shrinks and distorts over time and makes the connections fail. With this project, PROBLEM SOLVED. Yeah buddy!!

I'm happy I found this video. My lights have been so much trouble. What gauge does the wiring have to be?

About to tackle this job on my 88 brick. So tired of these damn taillights!

Great vid. I am wondering if there will be an issue with trying to solder to the stainless steel clips?? Planning to give this a try.

Thanks for your video. I was having all the usual tail light problems on my 240 sedan so I rewired them per your instructions and now they work great!
The only issue is that the Bulb Out indicator is still on even though all the lights work. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions on how to fix this that would be great.

Theoretically I could just daisy chain the ground, right?

Won't solder rattle and break? Isn't that why you never see solder in parts on cars that vibrate a lot? Just curious honestly i have to fix mine as well

i would rap the wire around the terminal a few times then solder so it does not come off even if the solder does crack, or find spade connectors that fit... either way is alot more reliable than that flexible circuit board crap.

I have a 1990 760 Turbo Sedan but I'm planning to swap out the lights to 1989 760 lights but I didn't get the connector for the wiring harness and they're completely different. You know where I could find or buy the wiring harness connector because it'd make it much easier for my swap
