The problem lies in the High/low relay under the hood. Its very common in all Volvo 240s. There is a too high flow of power though the "power in" wires. Often this results in melted wiring to the light switch and often the switch itself. Just keep an eye on that. There are solutions online for a upgrade to newer relays.
Nice work bud I learnt a lot today!
Glad you enjoyed it! Its nice having a car work properly again
One of my favorite vids here; nice fix and I actually think you did a neat job with those crimp-on connectors.
Thank you! Its probably possible to find a plug that fits but i couldn't at the time. Next best thing!

I've read a little into using newer relays. Do you think it's a solid solution? Is it a repair that might effect resale?
Hey ! Thanks for this video, I've got same issue on mine. Where did you find the new relay ? Did you take the same serial number ?
Hi Victor. I used the original relay but fixed the connectors
@@DeanofMachines thank you ;)
@@vico_le12 absolutely! Let me know if there’s anything i can do
what year is the car?
Both car's in the video are 1993 245. Both had a burnt headlight relay plug.
all headlights work but high beam only one light comes on but switch bulbs ?
Could be a bad bulb. Could be a bad ground
@@DeanofMachines i switch bulb and ground
power to the relay and only high beams working all power to the relay
still same problem only high beam only work after change that relay
@@DeanofMachines i slove the problem it was the wire from the relay on the fender side to headlight and everthings work and ready for inspection
