You can use old seat belts to make straps, and loop around axle/ then it is easier to lift and carry. Works for many heavy items too, like transmissions.

I've used a wrench to remove the spring parking brake cable when no sockets are available and in a real tight pinch I've used a piece of heater hose just takes a little more finagling...Have a great day Matt...
In Michigan if you would need an oxy acetylene torch or an electric impact if you even wanted to attempt this. I've pulled many axles and on 9/10 times here you have to cut the u bolts.

You did make this video look easy lol I just removed one on a 98 grand Cherokee lot of physical work there lol surprisingly the hardest part for me was just trying to remove the emergency brake cables and brake lines didn’t want to brake louse I’m glad I was able to get them louse without striping them soon as I receive the new rear end ima install it and get paid good video
U may be able to just get an axle with bearings on the end of it already instead of having to put new bearing on especially if the saver bearing still won’t fix the problem so I’m hearing all kinds of tips etc.,I love these videos

Pull and save here has crappy car stands made from two temp tire rims. Pulled and MJ Dana-35 rear end last week you know those are bolted from the underside. I had 1/2" between the rear axle mount and the ground. I took the leaf springs out
Even faster way.... undo the shocks, Sawzall the u bolts, cable cutter the e brake cables, yank it backwards 8-12" when on the ground, then pull it out and remove driveshaft. Far less headache then removing it "properly" remember, your at a junkyard. In 30 days the car will be crushed.... It's not about working clean it's about efficiency.
Was recently at the local Pull-A-Part looking for another Dana35 or getting the U-bolts, brackets and sway bar for a Chrysler 8.25 upgrade because this online company sent two Chrysler 8.25 on two different shipments when I kept saying Dana Spicer 35 so I am going with the Chrysler 8.25 upgrade. Will install the clean black rear end over the rusty one they sent.

Can you put the transfer case into neutral while vehicle is in park without damaging anything? I ask because my friend just did this to move my XJ and now the tcase grinds when shifting out of neutral... it was smooth as butter before 😒
i had my 1996 grand marquis gs for 10 years now i got it back in 2011 and i never changed the gear oil but i have the gear oil but now i have play in my differential cause when i put it in reverse it makes a clunking sound and when i put it in drive it makes another noise but other than that it rides fine my differential isn't making any noise but i want that clunking sound to stop every time i put it in gear so i want to know what i have to do to fix that problem i don't want to buy another rear end

Use a electric impact on that. Also if you take a dewalt 20v with you. You can use the battery as a power sorce to test electric window motors and switches. Or even move windows up and down to make getting them out easier with less damage to the donor vehicle. Rember someone else maybe looking for that part that you destroyed.

If you're out looking for a D30, the better years is around 95 to 99 if I remember correctly. Make sure it's high pinion and no CAD (central axle disconnect). Really to be honest, I'd look for a 2007 to 2015 JK rubicon front axle. It's a Dana 44 and it's a direct bolt on for an XJ so it's basically the same swap either way. Even better yet would be looking for a D60 but that's up to you. Matt/BleepinJeep does have video's where he's removed front axles from a few different Jeeps, I'd check out his other videos. The front is a bit different because the upper/lower control arms instead of leaf springs and steering components.
Kevin Smith Same could be said about our unibody XJ's but people does it all the time. If you're going to spend all that money doing a SAS, why not go with the best option right off? It's not that much difference in cost from most wrecking yards, where I'm at anyways. Only downside would be needing to swap the rear axle while at it.

Question: should I worry about the new rear end matching up with my drive shaft? Will it be horribly out of balance? If so how is that remedied? My 94 does not have abs and the new does. Will that be easy to delete? Thanks for any help.

No one does it locally.. so my question is will the i6 cherokee axle work? Mostlikely would have to regear...last question all cherokee's came with either dana35 or 44 correct?

We have this idea for a no transmission build where the motor will sit where the gas tank was. Will drum brakes even care if what use to be reverse is not forward?
by far the best penetrating oil you can buy is aero-kroil or sili-kroil (works a bit better) big orange can u can't miss it. Only thing better than that is a mix of 50% acetone 50% ATF
How TF do people raise the car that high to put the tires in there to hold it? I got a floor jack and like three other jacks and I can't get it up that high

I have pulled many a Jeep axle from wrecking yards. One trick I have found is to put a lug nut back on each side to keep your drums from falling off.
I wish my junkyard was that clean and level.

Spencer Travis cut them anyway. Not supposed to reuse them. Much faster.

Heres an obvious hack that not many people do: put the wheels back on when you pull the axle and just roll it around.
The salvage yard here takes the wheels off

U can put a hose clamp on the ebrake cable tines to held them in then pull.
How do I pull the rear diff without having to bleed the breaks when I put everything back together (it has pad breaks not drum)

Why did you pull a D35? Wouldn't an Chrysler 8.25 be a better option since it's a direct bolt in and way stronger?

Every single bolt on my jeep is rusted frozen.
But a MAPP gas torch from lowes/home depot. The $25 you spend with save you hours of headache.
Also a good powerbar and Half ATF and Carb cleaner make a awesome duo
AC Delco rust inhibitor is my favorite stuff to use, and a hand held torch.

Air purge your floor jack first see if its working well. Maybe try to put it on plywood or something to get extra lift could be sketchy tho
