I currently working on my own cafe. It scares me a lot since I don’t have any backgrounds on how to operate a cafe. I will open it this coming January 2021. By the way I am nurse who loves coffee.
Great to hear that you're deciding to take that leap and create that dream cafe of yours! I didn't have any exp. either when I first started my ice cream shop. Most people don't and even if they do...they'll never be ready for all the things that are thrown at you when you do own your own shop. For now - consume as much info as possible and ask for help in our Facebook Group. It should guide you in the process.
we are on the same page! currently working on my own cafe and i have no experience at all. i've been home brewing for quite a while and creating my own menus and that's it. these kind of videos help me a lot!
Step-by-step breakdown: 1. Identify your why 2. Concept 3. Location 4. Cost 5. Branding 6. Menu 7. Business Plan 8. Staffing These are very timely and extremely helpful steps for people who want to open a Cafe Business! Kudos to you, Wilson. 🙌
im watching this because im 42, a lawyer working for the govt, and preparing for my early retirement. this is so overwhelming. nothing great comes so easy indeed. thanks for this idea!
I am shocked at how many young entrepreneurs are in the comments! Love to see it! I am almost 16 and want to have my act together to have my own cafe/restaurant as soon as I am legally permitted to, and financially capable. Good Luck everyone! :)
I'm amazed too! It is so good to see so many young people interested in starting something they can call their own. Very different from when I was young! Best of luck MK!
I’ve just retired from my job at sea and am looking to start a cafe with my talented wife. But I am not a businessman. That doesn’t mean I can’t become one. Your videos make a lot of sense and are full of all the right ideas and concepts to start a second career as a cafe owner! Very impressive Wilson and thanks for passing on ideas and concepts for free on UA-cam, without which I may have had to spend a lot of money getting them!
I’m 20 and turning 21 this March, I’m happy to share that I’m excited to open my cafe on my birthday. My 18 years old dream, now I’m already to unlock.
I really want to open a cafe cause I love baking I love the thought of making coffee in those paper cups with lids and severing pastries . I also love the thought of people coming there for business meetings . Thank you so much❤❤❤❤
Jesus Christ the amount of content you are giving out. Thank you so much I'm opening a cafe / food court soon in the coming months much love from Malaysia ❤⚡
Thank you so much for this video! it was very informative and it was explained easily. Right now, I'm 18 but I've always wondered if it was really possible for me to do something so big for myself. I've watched countless videos on youtube of people running their cafes and it was really inspiring to me. Also, I really love calm and aesthetic environments and I would like to create that kind of space for myself and others too. I really look forward to opening up a dessert cafe one day and this video gave me a good idea of what I should look for and what to consider for my future cafe. Thank you!!
Hey Sophia great to hear that the video was helpful for you! If you have the aspirations (a really good reason why) and drive then it is possible for sure. One thing people make the mistake is not understanding that it takes a really long time to plan out a business. Like a year long before renos even start. So unless you have an actual deadline in your head, it is good to use this time to keep consuming resources and consider different concepts before you take that leap in say building a business plan etc. :)
Thank you so much for all the valuable information you share. Great video. I’m a new subscriber, but can’t wait to watch your entire library. Amazing work!
I totally agree!! Please if you end up opening a cafe in the near future and remember me, tell me where it is and I’ll try and come by to check it out!!!
U got me when you said buy second hand equipment --- which u mentioned that alot come from fairly new businesses that have shut down. Great advice brother, that's how you keep profits high.... by keeping cost low

I’m 12 but I’ve been saving up for a cafe for a while now. I’m hoping to have a cafe hybrid of Korean style drinks and snacks as well as some American, but the main thing I want to achieve is for it to be a welcoming, safe, and cozy environment for everyone. And since I love art, and of course I’m never ever giving art up, maybe there could be like a gallery place as well in the cafe! Like an art cafe thingy
Yes!! That is actually what I've been seeing recently. Cafes in Korea and Asia with painting, drawing and sculpting component. There was a cafe here in Vancouver where it was a cafe at the entrance, and the rest of the building is a gallery. Tables were scattered around the place to sit and do work at. So you could be doing work beside a very intricate oil painting. It was a very different experience. The only gripe I had with that spot was that it felt like you had to be dead silent in there. I have a video coming up with different cafe concepts I've seen online to give inspiration to people of what's possible! Watch out for that :)
I was a coffee master at starbucks and I left the company bc I want to open my own cafe there is nothing that I love more than teaching people about coffee and for people to have a fun time and to feel comfortable and welcome in the cafe. I love making drinks and making new things for customers to try out. I have made so many more drinks and have been able to experiment more with flavors. Hopefully im able to open a cafe my plan is to achieve my goal by 22
Hi this is Jag, I am interested in statting new coffee shop, or i am interested in buying existing coffee shops, your guidence is much appreciated. Thank you
My best friend of 7 years and I are both only 15 but think it would be amazing to open a small cafe together. We have similar ideas and skills that can help us with making our cafe more comfortable and unique :)
I am interested in your opinion: Do you think a business/start-up has a higher chance to be successful if the owner spends 100% of his time in it but in turn being 100% financially dependent on it? I am asking because there might be a conflict of interest in building a business that you truly love and can put your heart into but also having the burden of it needing to be profitable so you do not end up on the street. Not sure if my question is clear or not 😅?
I am 20 and I am a first year University student. I don’t like studying as much and just want to work hard and push through to get my career. I always wanted to open a business and run a business and I love making coffee, tea and food. I also applied for various jobs with no experience and I struggle to find work as a student. I really want to begin my own restaurant and I want a coffee shop as well. This is my passion and I hope to begin it in a few years.

Thank you so much for making a video on this! Currently, I am working at a restaurant as part of the service crew, but I’ve always planned on running a café. Now that I have the opportunity, I’m trying to know more about building a business for myself. Maybe the start of my 20’s aren’t looking so bad right now, thanks again Wil!
I’m 22 I’ve always dreamed of owning a business let alone a coffee business, a huge place in a tourist area has opened up for lease and I’m going for it. It’s a great investment, I’ve been learning a lot, and have worked hard to save money and if I fail at least I had the guts to try :)

Another great video, the more people are aware of the pitfalls the fewer business we'll see fail. Definitely all about creating the right concept in the correct location. Knowing your costs (and your numbers in general) is crucial!
i’m currently 15 and debating between opening a cafe or becoming a doctor. this honestly has to be the hardest decision ever 😭 thanks for the video tho, it helped lots :)
You have a ton of time to make that decision Ren! AND...You can always become a doctor first and then open a cafe later on. Because of the years it takes to study to become a doctor, the flip side is probably way harder to do. Best of luck!
lol same i’m 16 and the job i currently work at is a coffee/bubble tea shop! i always felt like i had to have my own business like it was made for me and now i know for a fact that this is something i wanna do. u should work at a cafe just for experience and see how much u would enjoy and be interested in it :)
I’m 16 and thinking of opening a cafe in my early 20s in Japan and I’m wondering if it’s better to open it there or where I’m currently living (Australian QLD)
I've been pigging out on all your videos. I typically don't get enthralled in one persons YT series because they don't feed me the information I'm looking for, however you've fed med! I find myself watching your videos of information that I thought I already knew until I discover new material. One main thing I like is how your info is STRAIGHTFORWARD. You're not selling me a product, thus leaving really pertinent info out to keep me reeled in. I'd honestly buy whatever you'd sell at this point though because I trust your info, entirely! Thank You. Also, you sold your ice cream chain -- OMG!! Well, congrats :)
Thanks Luvenia! Glad the videos are helpful :) I do have an online academy product for those who are looking for more in depth step by steps that goes into the nitty gritty stuff. It's mostly for those who are more serious in their business. You can check more about it in the masterclass. If you have any other topics you'd like me to cover, let me know!
I'm in the middle of planning to start my own coffee shop soon. I learned a lot from this video and going to watch all the attached videos related to this content. I was really inspired by the thought that I can gather all my friends in my own place. Wish me a good plan. Thank you so much.
My best friend and I have talked about opening a bakery for her and a cafe for me so we’d combine the two and I get to be my own barista/manager and we’d wake up early in the am and I can make her coffee while she starts the breads and cookies.
Awww me 19 years of age watching this and will become a successful business woman! I declare in Jesus name Amen! 🥺💕🙌❤️ And i will back to this channel to show gratitude 😁 thanks for this kind of content!
Since I was 16 I’ve always wanted to open my own café, hopefully when I’m stable enough I’ll be able to I’m currently 19, studying about coffee as a passionate hobby, and still dreaming
Keep at it!! I recommend working at a cafe to get some experience and the feeling of it day in and day out as well. Plus you'll get to see what works and what doesn't.
I'm a Junior in High School with the goal of opening a safe space cafe. I've grown up with both my parents on disability so I haven't known money and the thought of taking a risk like this scares me greatly but this is a big dream for me and I hope I can accomplish
Want to open a cafe with my partner in the future and I find these videos super interesting, however, we both struggle to agree to things so I'm hoping that with these videos we can come to an agreement on things.
Great content. 💯 Things were explained easily and I find it really helpful for us since me and my friends were planning to put up a cafe. I would love to see more videos from you! 😊
im 13 y old and its my dream to own a coffee shop based around skateboarding and street style. idk how to start right now but ill talk to people and figure it out. ive always had the spirit of an entrepreneur and tried different ways of making money and i know someday ill own my own business. ty for the video and i will start researching now so that i will be ready to own my own cafe at a young age. :)
You have lots of time to work towards it! It won't be easy and you're going to fail. But it's part of the journey. It's like learning how to bike for the first time - super hard at first and you eventually figure it out. So it may seem impossible right now...but as you learn, consume knowledge, go through life and get experience, it becomes more clear bit by bit. Best of luck!
Wilson! You are a saviour! This video is everything I need to inspire myself to pursue my cafe dream. Because of this video, i am enrolling to your free course and other courses necessary for my dream cafe to be realized. And I promise I'll keep you updated with my progress so you would really know how your contents help me in the process.
I want to open a cafe because I have being living with cafe for my whole life my family cant live without coffee literally, they drink coffee 3 times a day and I learned how to make coffee since I was born.
When I get my smartphone repair business up and going the way I wish, if I wish to go into getting my own building, I have a barebone idea of having a coffee shop in my business. The concept is to have a hangout spot to be able to get a coffee while you're waiting on your phone to be repaired or to learn about the services I can provide, and to simply have a nice interaction point with my customers. What I'd be looking at in the future is to have a coffee stand facing towards the the front door and then to have a table in the center where I actively repair the smartphones of customers who need repairs. It's tougher to describe but I want my customers to see me repair their phones at the same time have the opportunity to buy a coffee.
This is very underrated and very helpful! But I guess not everyone wants to open a cafe, but since I want to open one as soon as a can, this is great! I’m thankful I found your channel 💙✨
Thank you Wilson for your advise, this always been my dream, I’ll start my own library coffee shop in 3/4 years ahead, still need to save some money 💰 Subscribe done, your channels so great 👍🥰
Im 14 and I want to start my own cafe but at the same time I want to study to become a doctor or surgeon. But I really want to open my own cafe business so thank you for this video!
Uh.. Alright I'm gonna do the same as everyone since the same thing unites us under this video ^-^ I'm turning 18 and graduating from high school in two months. My ultimate dream is to open a café, I think and write my ideas about it everyday. I plan to go to uni though (luckily it's free where I live) and make a career to save enough and open my dream café! Gotta be patient... Good luck to all of us
Glad it was helpful!! I made a ton of mistakes when I first started so I wanted to just share the things that worked and didn't work for me. Are you starting a cafe this year?
I am stuck with the timing of choosing a location. It seems like I need the investors secured before I can guarantee a location for myself, but if I can't guarantee the location, I can't fill in the details of the business plan in order to secure the investors. Do you have any advice?
I'm 18 and I want to open a Cafe in the next couple of years.. I have a really great idea of an concept that don't exist in my city yet.. But before that I want to live my dream and travel the world and get some inspiration from cafes all over the world..
Nice! Yes I definitely encourage your idea of living out your dream and seeing different cafes from around the world. There are SO many interesting ones that will really give you perspective
Hi, Can you give a consistent ratio between the number of people passing through the shop and the sales we can estimate? I mean, if 10000 people pass by in front of the coffee shop, the amount of their potential customer is around 100 cups of coffee per day [in this case, 1%]. Is there a consistent ratio like this?
Not sure what the right figure would be, but many factors would come into play, such as your location and potential foot traffic. And the diversification and year-long sustainability some of your menu items may be. You must also consider seasonality and what part of the world you are in.
Hi Willson This video is really helpful. Thank you for good information. Coz, I am thinking about the open small coffee shop . I working as chef. nearly 14 years experience . Thank you once again for video . Cheers
Very nice video! I love coffee, that’s maybe why this pops up on my “recommended video”. Physical coffee shops are expensive to start with… so , I only have online cafe 😃 dropshipping coffee products ☕️
I want to live in a world where moms help other moms. I want to create a space for moms to come and enjoy a good cup of (hot) coffee and while their kids play in the play area. Wish me luck, I'm in the very early stages of planning.
Yey, I finally got watched a video that answers all my question and motivates me more. I'm 16 y/o and I badly wanna do cafe stuffs, either im going to build my own or maybe i should just apply for some cafè shops. It depends for my destiny? Correct me if im wrong because I do not have enough experiences about that. My only dream was to make myself and others enjoy the vibe of a cafè and I hope this will come true. This was on September 5,2020. 💌 Goodluck to my future and wish me luck hihi. Thanks so much

lol same i’m 16 and the job i currently work at is a coffee/bubble tea shop! i always felt like i had to have my own business like it was made for me and now i know for a fact that this is something i wanna do. u should work at a cafe just for experience and see how much u would enjoy and be interested in it :)
What did you pick in the end lol

I’m 16 and thinking of opening a cafe in my early 20s in Japan and I’m wondering if it’s better to open it there or where I’m currently living (Australian QLD)
And yes I’m currently taking Japanese in school atm
open at where you want to settle down :)
Having my own cafe has always been my dream and now it's time to put it into reality. Learned a lot from this vid ❣️
Best of luck Haneun! You got this!
Thank you Wilson, this is by far the simplest explanation of the step by step process of putting up a cafe business. 😊
I'm 18. I have been wanting to open a cafe for the longest time and I will make it happen. Thank you for the helpful video !!!
Best of luck Joy!
I'm in the middle of planning to start my own coffee shop soon. I learned a lot from this video and going to watch all the attached videos related to this content. I was really inspired by the thought that I can gather all my friends in my own place. Wish me a good plan. Thank you so much.
Best of luck Leander!
How is your cafe going so far?
My best friend and I have talked about opening a bakery for her and a cafe for me so we’d combine the two and I get to be my own barista/manager and we’d wake up early in the am and I can make her coffee while she starts the breads and cookies.
Sounds like a great partnership!!
I’m in the midst of planning a cafe. This helps a lot. Thanks!
Awww me 19 years of age watching this and will become a successful business woman! I declare in Jesus name Amen! 🥺💕🙌❤️ And i will back to this channel to show gratitude 😁 thanks for this kind of content!
You got this! Best of luck :)) And thank you for tuning in Yna
Since I was 16 I’ve always wanted to open my own café, hopefully when I’m stable enough I’ll be able to
I’m currently 19, studying about coffee as a passionate hobby, and still dreaming
I honestly want to open up a cafe, this video will be perfect!

im 13 y old and its my dream to own a coffee shop based around skateboarding and street style. idk how to start right now but ill talk to people and figure it out. ive always had the spirit of an entrepreneur and tried different ways of making money and i know someday ill own my own business. ty for the video and i will start researching now so that i will be ready to own my own cafe at a young age. :)
A 15 year old me watching this and is sooooo much interested in starting a cafe but feels that it's not possible at the same time😭
You have lots of time to work towards it!
@@WilsonKLee It's an honor sir to get this feedback...tysm!! Surely I will work for it!!❤️😊
25 and planning to make my own coffee shop😍
Nice! What kind of coffee shop are you thinking of Karen?
This is very inspiring, your breakdown really gives a realistic business identity. That for me is crucial. Thank you!

I want to open a cafe because I have being living with cafe for my whole life my family cant live without coffee literally, they drink coffee 3 times a day and I learned how to make coffee since I was born.
Neat! You have an advantage then with your exp. Best of luck!
Love this! Thank you! I’ve always wanted to open my own cafe but just didn’t no how to start.
You can do it!

FUTURE COFFEE SHOP OWNER WITH MY FRIEND 💯
Thanks. I think “Key Concept” = value proposition
Hi,
Can you give a consistent ratio between the number of people passing through the shop and the sales we can estimate? I mean, if 10000 people pass by in front of the coffee shop, the amount of their potential customer is around 100 cups of coffee per day [in this case, 1%]. Is there a consistent ratio like this?
Not sure what the right figure would be, but many factors would come into play, such as your location and potential foot traffic. And the diversification and year-long sustainability some of your menu items may be. You must also consider seasonality and what part of the world you are in.
Hi Willson
This video is really helpful. Thank you for good information. Coz, I am thinking about the open small coffee shop . I working as chef. nearly 14 years experience .
Thank you once again for video . Cheers
