There are also other reasons to want to stream everywhere, such as growing your audience. A no-brainer.

Twitch's success relies on their content creators. By handicapping and restricting them, they lose those big creators. It's awesome to see a CEO who is passionate and actually engages with creators and users

Streaming exclusivity has been one of the biggest flaws to the partner program in my opinion, and I’m glad to see that they are actually making decisions that are good for the creators

This is absolutely huge for me. For the last 2 years, I've been streaming a really rare sports event with pedal powered aeroplanes, and every year i have to jump through a load of hoops to host my own simulcasting and make things work from the middle of an active airfield. Huge W Edit: thanks for all the interest in our team! I think some sort of spam detection is stopping me plug my own sports team's socials but we're called the Southampton university human powered aircraft society if that helps (suhpa) for short. We fly at competitions every summer so you need to follow our socials closer to the time for exact dates. I'll try to stream all that then, otherwise our UA-cam has a lot of our content
I was afraid this CEO would be worse but after watching an interview between him and Quin69, he actually seemed more down to earth than most CEOs and genuinely listened and gave sound feedback to questions. He seems to care somewhat about making the platform more friendly again
did you see the interview with Filian? First June 2023. He clearly stated he doesn't want contracts back, but the streamers to concentrate on sponsorships and the like. Maybe a week later, Twitch released, they won't allow ads in the video stream, and logos be a maximum size of 3%, and other stupid requirements. I still remember Dan drilling his ears in that interview.... There should be a video PMW posted on Twitter about that.
Daniel Clancy seems to be a guy with a straight head and an understanding of what the community actually wants. He also seems to be a good guy in general, I remember seeing a clip of him getting a streamer access to the disabled restroom as the staff were trying to force people out of TwitchCon Paris after the event ended by giving them his own pass. A guy who cares for not only the platform but for the creators themselves.

well, it's a first, good step, but for real simulcasting, there are still steep stairs in front of twitch. Like, they could up their bandwidth, and allow 4k streaming. That way people won't be limited by their simulcasting rule that twitch stream should not be streamed with a lesser quality than the others. Also, I find that non-combined chat rule stupid. First wanting streamers to take up max 3% of their videos with ads/logos, and then basically requiring two separate chats.. is bogus
I was at a PAX West pre-party hosted by Twitch this year at a local Hard Rock Cafe and Dan Clancy was there. The ENTIRE night--and I mean the whole time I was there--Dan was in the crowd talking to streamers, answering questions, and just generally being a very open and chill dude. Like speaking directly to every single person who wanted to come up to him and having full conversations. The event ended with a live band playing video game covers and in the middle of the set, Dan got on stage and played and sang the Sturgill Simpson tune "Turtles All The Way Down" which has lyrics about using lots and lots of hallucinogenics. He wasn't really "good" by most standards but the performance was so earnest and wholesome that everybody was into it. All this to say, I get the impression he genuinely cares about his job and genuinely cares about making Twitch as good as it can be.

Dan Clancy has been making an absolute effort in making Twitch steaming an entrainment medium, and his effort shows with his collaborations and changes that he's put forward. Hopefully Corporate Twitch can see that the creators are what make the machine run like Dan does

Watched someone stream last night and their paid comments kept being ignored on YT, they seemed to get really sad. ( which is ick to me, cuz i dont get the "please, notice me!" vibe fans get with content creators ) Then, people started getting annoyed period because the entire chat was ignore, here. 😂 even their own mods had to go to twitch to get them to handle an issue... Personally, I only watched for 10 minutes - maybe a little less, but it was an absolute trainwreck over here on YT ) it didnt make me want to switch to twitch but it did cause me to find somewhere else to be.

Dan Clancy seems like he could do a legendary job as twitch CEO I wouldn't doubt if we see him try to bring back 70/30 he seems like such a good genuine guy. He knows what could be better on twitch as he actively uses it and hopefully can keep the platform on its feet
(1) Whenever Charlie has good news it honestly makes my day. The black shirt of death was not a bad sign this time! (2) I share in Charlie’s excitement for a few reasons. It’s incredible what the CEO is doing from a business standpoint, brilliant really. And it’s also wholesome in that I feel his first priority was the welfare of his streamers, not money (although he’ll be raking that in soon enough!). Because of this whole thing, I am deliberately going to use my Twitch account for streaming, as I see them being *a company that is will to cooperate with others to benefit everyone*.
We’re going to be seeing a lot more streaming on UA-cam now. Which could be very beneficial for twitch and streaming in general because it’s going to make many new streaming fans out of UA-cam’s massive audience that haven’t really experienced much streaming before.
7:15 That was my immediate thought, too. I've never streamed, but I can imagine that it would be difficult to pay attention to chat on multiple platforms. A streamer could just be like "I only react to chat on Twitch, so if you want to get involved, go there," or something like that.

Nice. My UA-cam channel is bigger than my twitch so I'll probably look into simulcasting to both. I still want to see twitch give better than the horrible 50/50 revenue split for affiliates. Easily my number one issue with twitch as a small streamer.
I have two views on why they may be doing this, one optimistic, one pessimistic. The optimistic view is that they’re doing this because it benefits the streamers and the platform. Dan Clancy mentions that people have been able to grow their twitch channels through using other services like TikTok. This might be like when some bands in the 90s saw an uptick in record sales due to file sharing services like Napster. Just being able to get people to know who you are and interact with you is half the battle, so this could be a way to get their streamers more out there. The pessimistic view is that twitch is going to allow this so they can cut rates/payments/whatever to their streamers since they’re now ‘double dipping.’ I’m sure at least one person in accounting has floated this idea. This would lead to streamers having to essentially make a splash on multiple platforms to make a living, unless they’re really big already. Hope it’s not the case, there’s nothing to indicate that happening now, so hopefully it doesn’t.
Gonna love having you back over on Twitch. I hated missing streams due to the youtube notification thing that happened some times. plus twitch chat really is the better experience. even if I prefer the ease of rewinding the stream on youtube. truly is the best of both worlds.
I think Twitch needs to take the Steam route. Make their service the best out of what's available, which IMHO, they already have, but with just a handful of small improvements Twitch could rule livestreaming again.

Dan Clancy is the best CEO we could have wished for. He has already appeared on so many different streams and makes a great effort to be involved in the community. Twitch's future looked very dark for a while but now I'm a lot more optimistic that Dan can save it!
youre right on the case where youtube chat people will go to twitch chat cuz the interactive element of twitch chat with channel points, predictions, bits that can trigger actions on the stream like a sound effect and etc.
I've always had to avoid becoming an affiliate on Twitch since I also wanted to stream on UA-cam at the same time but now finally nothing is preventing me from actually getting it finally. This is such a great change from Twitch, holy shit!

I prefer youtube because of the quality so I hope alot of streamers start doing this (if they have the bandwidth). I'd always wondered why streamers didn't simulcast never knew it was an actual rule of twitch, glad they changed something for the better for a change.
Dan really does seem to be enthusiastic about the platform and the people on it. I've seen him interact with many streamers and appear on some of their streams and several streamers have talked about having direct conversations with him. Hopefully it is the case and he continues to work to improve the platform.
best people on such positions are always the ones who actually also indulge into using their products and stuff. This goes just for any company providing some products
This is a long shot but hopefully Dan can address the absurd amount of ads on twitch. The other night I tried to watch Kai cenat play the new spider man game and I spent more time watching ads than the actual stream. That to me is a bit unacceptable on a live streaming platform.

The whole endemic chat discussion is true. I have an animator friend who a few years ago would stream on Picarto, UA-cam, and Twitch simultaneously. While his reach was way better on UA-cam because his content was hosted there, the chat didn't want to watch on UA-cam because it was mostly him doing his WIP animation, which nobody cares about on UA-cam. On his Twitch however, because there was a very filtered art category/tab, a lot of his users on Picarto and UA-cam who had seen a bigger chat on Twitch had migrated over to Twitch because the chat was much more lively AND had emotes (which was not available on UA-cam at the time). When he became an affiliate or w/e the offer is when you get like 100 subs, he was informed to not do multistream/simulstreaming and a lot of his growth was stunted because the reach of UA-cam was now closed off to him. He could counteract it by doing an announcement videos ("Hey I'm doing XYXY on Twitch right now" titled videos), but ultimately people who weren't immediately engaging with the stream wouldn't migrate over.
It makes me sad that it takes so long to have a company do something good. I’m happy don’t get me wrong, but man I wanna be happy about stuff like this more when it comes to companies in industries I care about

This is absolutely huge for me. For the last 2 years, I've been streaming a really rare sports event with pedal powered aeroplanes, and every year i have to jump through a load of hoops to host my own simulcasting and make things work from the middle of an active airfield. Huge W

I think some sort of spam detection is stopping me plug my own sports team's socials but we're called the Southampton university human powered aircraft society if that helps (suhpa) for short. I was afraid this CEO would be worse but after watching an interview between him and Quin69, he actually seemed more down to earth than most CEOs and genuinely listened and gave sound feedback to questions. He seems to care somewhat about making the platform more friendly again

did you see the interview with Filian? First June 2023. He clearly stated he doesn't want contracts back, but the streamers to concentrate on sponsorships and the like. Maybe a week later, Twitch released, they won't allow ads in the video stream, and logos be a maximum size of 3%, and other stupid requirements.
I still remember Dan drilling his ears in that interview....

A guy who cares for not only the platform but for the creators themselves.

Rocket scientist surely have some insigts about the logic side of this, but we can start to look about the emotions and all the things unseen with charts and computers... well, it's a first, good step, but for real simulcasting, there are still steep stairs in front of twitch.
Like, they could up their bandwidth, and allow 4k streaming. That way people won't be limited by their simulcasting rule that twitch stream should not be streamed with a lesser quality than the others.
Also, I find that non-combined chat rule stupid. First wanting streamers to take up max 3% of their videos with ads/logos, and then basically requiring two separate chats.. is bogus

I was at a PAX West pre-party hosted by Twitch this year at a local Hard Rock Cafe and Dan Clancy was there. The ENTIRE night--and I mean the whole time I was there--Dan was in the crowd talking to streamers, answering questions, and just generally being a very open and chill dude. Like speaking directly to every single person who wanted to come up to him and having full conversations. The event ended with a live band playing video game covers and in the middle of the set, Dan got on stage and played and sang the Sturgill Simpson tune "Turtles All The Way Down" which has lyrics about using lots and lots of hallucinogenics. He wasn't really "good" by most standards but the performance was so earnest and wholesome that everybody was into it.
All this to say, I get the impression he genuinely cares about his job and genuinely cares about making Twitch as good as it can be.

Watched someone stream last night and their paid comments kept being ignored on YT, they seemed to get really sad. ( which is ick to me, cuz i dont get the "please, notice me!" vibe fans get with content creators ) Then, people started getting annoyed period because the entire chat was ignore, here. 😂 even their own mods had to go to twitch to get them to handle an issue... Personally, I only watched for 10 minutes - maybe a little less, but it was an absolute trainwreck over here on YT ) it didnt make me want to switch to twitch but it did cause me to find somewhere else to be.

(2) I share in Charlie’s excitement for a few reasons. It’s incredible what the CEO is doing from a business standpoint, brilliant really. And it’s also wholesome in that I feel his first priority was the welfare of his streamers, not money (although he’ll be raking that in soon enough!). Because of this whole thing, I am deliberately going to use my Twitch account for streaming, as I see them being *a company that is will to cooperate with others to benefit everyone*.

Nice. My UA-cam channel is bigger than my twitch so I'll probably look into simulcasting to both. I still want to see twitch give better than the horrible 50/50 revenue split for affiliates. Easily my number one issue with twitch as a small streamer.
I have two views on why they may be doing this, one optimistic, one pessimistic.
The optimistic view is that they’re doing this because it benefits the streamers and the platform. Dan Clancy mentions that people have been able to grow their twitch channels through using other services like TikTok. This might be like when some bands in the 90s saw an uptick in record sales due to file sharing services like Napster. Just being able to get people to know who you are and interact with you is half the battle, so this could be a way to get their streamers more out there.
The pessimistic view is that twitch is going to allow this so they can cut rates/payments/whatever to their streamers since they’re now ‘double dipping.’ I’m sure at least one person in accounting has floated this idea. This would lead to streamers having to essentially make a splash on multiple platforms to make a living, unless they’re really big already. Hope it’s not the case, there’s nothing to indicate that happening now, so hopefully it doesn’t.
Gonna love having you back over on Twitch. I hated missing streams due to the youtube notification thing that happened some times. plus twitch chat really is the better experience. even if I prefer the ease of rewinding the stream on youtube. truly is the best of both worlds.
I think Twitch needs to take the Steam route. Make their service the best out of what's available, which IMHO, they already have, but with just a handful of small improvements Twitch could rule livestreaming again.

I prefer youtube because of the quality so I hope alot of streamers start doing this (if they have the bandwidth). I'd always wondered why streamers didn't simulcast never knew it was an actual rule of twitch, glad they changed something for the better for a change.

What a CEO that actually does something good, that's rare.
Dan really does seem to be enthusiastic about the platform and the people on it. I've seen him interact with many streamers and appear on some of their streams and several streamers have talked about having direct conversations with him. Hopefully it is the case and he continues to work to improve the platform.

This is amazing! As someone who runs an esports team and streams games, being able to simulstream everywhere changes everything!
This is a long shot but hopefully Dan can address the absurd amount of ads on twitch. The other night I tried to watch Kai cenat play the new spider man game and I spent more time watching ads than the actual stream. That to me is a bit unacceptable on a live streaming platform.

It's not a "huge W" in the slightest. This is just how it was before. They're simply undoing one of the extremely bad decisions they made. There shouldn't be any cheering, just a "good it's back to what it was before"

The whole endemic chat discussion is true. I have an animator friend who a few years ago would stream on Picarto, UA-cam, and Twitch simultaneously. While his reach was way better on UA-cam because his content was hosted there, the chat didn't want to watch on UA-cam because it was mostly him doing his WIP animation, which nobody cares about on UA-cam. On his Twitch however, because there was a very filtered art category/tab, a lot of his users on Picarto and UA-cam who had seen a bigger chat on Twitch had migrated over to Twitch because the chat was much more lively AND had emotes (which was not available on UA-cam at the time). When he became an affiliate or w/e the offer is when you get like 100 subs, he was informed to not do multistream/simulstreaming and a lot of his growth was stunted because the reach of UA-cam was now closed off to him. He could counteract it by doing an announcement videos ("Hey I'm doing XYXY on Twitch right now" titled videos), but ultimately people who weren't immediately engaging with the stream wouldn't migrate over.
It makes me sad that it takes so long to have a company do something good. I’m happy don’t get me wrong, but man I wanna be happy about stuff like this more when it comes to companies in industries I care about
