Well-done video Jim! As someone who’s been to Japan several times, I think the prices / choices can be overwhelming for a retro game enthusiast shopping in Tokyo. This is a great starting point! Would like to see other consoles too.
This was such a great video, I’m planning a trip to Japan in the next few years and this was such a great list of games to choose for a Japanese collection. Would love to see this as a series for every console, excellent content man.
This is why I decided to collect for Super Famicom instead of SNES, cause even though I have to pay for shipping the games are way cheaper. Tetris Battle Gaiden and Panel de Pon are also great cheap games.
Good collection. As for Super Potato, it can be a little pricier sometimes. However, they have a lot of stuff, so sometimes when you get tired of looking for things, it's just a good place to go and get what you want.
Yeah, places like Super Potato, Trader and Surugaya are great when I want something specific and don't have time to run all over the Kanto plane digging through Hard Offs.
Miss your videos between me and my kids being subscribed to way to many things on UA-cam i didnt have any of your videos pop up. I would love to go to Japan!
The track at the start of the video is Neon Night Riders from TMNT: Turtles in Time, and the music while inside the shop is the Mario Kario Wii channel music.
Thanks Jim! I had to chuckle a bit during the ending review as you took a little swig. It's a nice gig when you can drink on the job 🙂 Great vid as always!
@@MadPanicGaming cheers, I managed to get an astro city cab during lockdown here in london which are hard to come by, but the goal is to get out there and see these places, these shops and arcades and barcades 🕹 top channel
I need to find some people to go in on a sendico order with. There's so much stuff I'd love to have that is way cheaper than in the USA. Usually in way better shape too
Great video Jim, thanks ! As already said in comments, this would be great to have the same for different systems even though the price could vary accordingly. Also, it could be nice to have some tutorials on how to play this imported games in NA ! Cheers !
...I think ever since the Yen collapsed last year, it was good to have Euro or US dollar to buy these things, so long as you would find an exchange rate house that would pay good return at the cash exchange or a debit card with low international ATM fees, the prices would then become highly attractive. It also depends where you are originating from since flight tickets could also take a massive toll on the budget.
Spectacular value and some amazing picks. Personally, I would still have gone with Street Fighter II but you might not have had enough for Bomberman then.
I've also got Super Bomber Man 2 early this year. And this video shows that this is why I want to collect more games for the Super Famicom. Because they're not so expensive. Now that I've got Super Mario World, I can try and get Super Mario Collection and Yoshi's Island.
Pretty much everything you showed that you picked up, I had already picked up, outside of the Yu Yu Hakusho game. Kirby's Avalanche, like Mean Bean Machine, was a reskin of the first Puyo Puyo. Puyo Puyo Tsuu SFC comes in two flavors, the regular you have there, and Remix (I have the first version loose, and Remix boxed, both gotten for cheap).
I knew it was one of them. I'm a fan of Puyo Puyo but I've never actually played either of the reskinned games. Didn't get into the series until after moving to Japan.
@@MadPanicGaming I knew of the series thanks to EGM's import section, but never got to try the series until emulation. My fandom took off from there, own the reskinned games too, but never play them at all. Honestly can't stand the reskins.
Not for nothing but I prefer the Puyo Puyo games for the Super Famicom more than the localized reskins: Kirby’s Avalanche and Dr Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine
To be fair, they do have some crazy expensive stuff in there, rare collector's pieces and stuff like that, but more common games aren't really all that expensive there. Now, their ebay store on the other hand, yikes!
Lots of games (many millions) in a relatively small geographic area, so there's plenty to go around. As for condition, it varies, and they'll typically put the best looking games out front. For games that are damaged in some way, the price is reduced.
That was a fun one, how about doing the same thing with famicom or pc engine? I know how about building a Neo Geo homecart collection for under $50 ; ). I’d like some pointers on that one.
I'm planning to do more videos like this one on other consoles, but I might have to adjust the spending limit for consoles like PC Engine and Sega Saturn.

oof, 5200Y for Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius?! sounds about right. hoping to import a copy off ebay/amazon but I shudder to think what they're going for now! :( might have to import one of the other bomberman games I haven't played a lot of that series, at least not since bomberman '93 on the PCE via virtual console!
i got a set of the parodius series sfc carts on YAJ for a decent price. sometimes a good deal can appear on YAJ. i got the super bomberman series in that way as well. some other series that i can remember on top of my head is the goemon series. the only killer is the racked up domestic shipping and international shipping to me. i still like to own original sfc carts even though i have a fxpak pro. snes carts are too expensive and the labels are not as nice as japanese carts. been buying sfc consoles to recap and mod too. replaced the voltage regulator and done the jailbar fix on a shvc cpu 01, 1chip02 and rgb modded sfc jr. the shvc cpu 01 models with the separate audio board can have the stereo balance restored by soldering a capacitor. Thanks, Ace.
@@garrettkazuma207 well I usually just look on ebay or amazon see what SFC stuff is out there for a good price.
