It’s because most Japanese pride themselves in perfection and quality for customers when you come to the store The U.S. no offense lacks customer service when it comes to older electronics when they are sold in thrift stores or Pawn Shops.
Thrift shop videos are always a delight 😂 I have to say, as someone who's been in charge of production design on a few different short films... the junk level looks like heaven. You could outfit an entire scene of great props for like, $50!! Anyway I'll keep watching 😂
I wish op shops where I live are this interesting. The closest we have would be pawn shops. And even then everything is so over priced. Please never stop geeking out over toys. Just cause you're no longer a child, doesn't mean you have to stop loving the things you enjoyed as a child.
I can't wait to go there again I remember passing this shop in 2018 when I went to Japan for the first time cant wait to go in May this year. I only went to Mandarake Japan
Love these thrift store videos. Love them because of the amazing finds and the cheap prices. It makes me wish I can to visit the provinces instead of staying in Tokyo. But sadly, I can't at the moment, hopefully someday soon.
You get my heart going every time you get to the instruments. My eyes start searching for the ukes. Still working on the place to buy one when I get to Japan this fall.
I swear dude. The more times you do these it is an automatic watch so cool seeing what Japan is recycling out with these shops. Your audio is also very chill and nice to listen to. Keep it up!
Never stop nerding out! I think when you are perusing the toy levels of these thrift stores is when I watch the hardest 😅. Always looking out for my particular favourites! Love love love these thrift shop videos.
Compared to Thrift shops state side, its always impressed me by how clean and well taken care of all the things on sale could be, especially the musical equipment and instruments!
NEVER apologize for nerding out over toys, especially in Japan. Can never spend too much time on toys. I want to see every single one! I LOOOOOVE toys and collect them like crazy so seeing this makes my heart happy.
hello I'm from Australia found this on my you tube page so decided to watch it. I love Thrift stores & I just subscribed to your channel so many things to see wow
I think these thrift shop videos are my favorite on the channel XD It's super interesting to see just how many things and variety of things japanese shops have. Here in America where i am, most the thrift shops are like 80% clothes, 10% books and 10% questionable electronics that may or may not work. But in japan theres tons of musical instruments, working high quality tech, tons and tons of retro games and systems, and dont even get me started on the anime merch! Its just amazing to see!
Visiting a Japanese thrift store is definitely on my "Things to do in Japan" bucket list. Feels like I could find some really amazing treasures that I otherwise couldn't find here in the US
@@R0LL1NGAGAIN My bucket list for just a visit is mostly just going to see some of the big stuff. Fox Village, Shimanami Kaido biking, maybe see if I could find a festival, explore some Tokyo backstreets, etc. Also going to Numazu for Love Live! Sunshine! things. But there's a ton I'd love to do if I could stay longer
Your thrift store videos have me enthralled. I love how organized the stores seem. Your walk through a are fun, cause I feel like I'm walking through also
24:14 Those toys are based around famous live action héroes from different Tokusatsu shows there, like Kamen Rider, Súper Sentai (original Power Rangers), Ultraman, etc.
I completely agree that adults should be nerding out over toys. I do love watching your random shop tours around Japan. Nice to see all the random treasures you can find and the amazing condition they are compared to here in the UK
It's amazing to see the variety and the age of the items in these shops, specially the good conditions that they are usually in. When I watch these videos it always makes me want to go there and buy a bunch of stuff 😅
I love Book Off/Hard Off etc. I bought so much anime merch there when I was in Japan! My favourite was checking the movies and looking at the Japanese titles and how they translated it :D
I find the thrift shop video are so interesting and the video games are insanely priced as someone who wants to collect gameboy advance and gamecube consoles and games it fills me with joy
@@TokyoLens I haven't gotten all the parts yet, I will most likely complete it by the end of the month. I had to buy parts because my laptop died so I'm without a PC and cant work on my stuff.
It's crazy to see how much respect the items in this thrift shop are given by the store, in the us sometimes you're lucky if they even wipe down items before they're sold. Not to mention the glorious labels that tell you what's wrong with the junk items 🤤
It's surprising to see that even the "junk" section is maintained relatively tidy & clean. Places like these are rare in my country & are usually very small and run-down
So since a few days watching your videos bekame a habbit for me after i finished lerning japanese with a friend. Were really close to reach our first goal A1. With now almost over 70h of work put in lerning japanese your videos are a reason to keep me motivated. And not cut of my continuity. Thank's
2:38 This was used for the Pokemon Stadium games. You could insert your Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow (+Gold/Silver/Crystal for the sequel) cartridges and use them to battle in the game via the N64 Controller. There was also a player (Game Boy Tower) so you can play your Pokemon game from your N64. It was really neat at the time. Thanks for sharing your experience in this store. I really hope to visit it soon the next time I can visit Japan when individual tourism is permitted.
I always love thrift stores. Like Goodwill here in the states. I get my love for them from my grandmother. I never go in though for fear of spending too much money. Good luck as always Norm.
It’s crazy that I been watching your videos for a while now, I just came to Japan, and went to that store last week, and seeing you there it makes me feel so happy 😂😂 as if we met

I was just binge watching your old videos about thrift stores and you just uploaded a new one! You're the gift that keeps on giving! Love your videos Norm keep up the great work!
Oooo the "junk" level would be a great place to get things to take apart for an art project! My friend made a flower out of old earbud pieces, there's so much you could make from all that stuff!!
Never stop nerding out over toys Norm. I wish Canada had second hand shops like this, it’s either places worse than the junk floor, or pawn shops that have limited selections and are very expensive.
Always a treat seeing what one would find in a thrift store outside of my home-country, it just gives some perspective, to say the least! Add to that your ever so joyous enthusiasm for everything you see, makes the adventure so much more enjoayble for an onlooker! (Also, in all honesty, I might have a secret bucket-list, with one check-box being to actually nerd out about NERF/Dart blasters in general with you, seeing as I'm a big blaster nerd too)
It never ceases to amaze me how freakin' orderly and clean these stores look, despite the insane amount of stock. Most of the high-end stores here in the US look like a bomb went off at any given time.
It has been my dream, ever since I was a little kid to get to even visit Japan let alone live there you are so lucky!!! I am 36 years old and geek out over anything tamagotchi, Nintendo, video games in general, everything Sanrio/San-x/Pokémon I love it all I would probably be trying to camp out in that 3rd level of the store omg!!!! ❤ ❤❤
