    Boy howdy, folks! It arrived, and it was bigger than I anticipated! In this video, I unbox the brand new Klipsch 5.1.4 Reference Cinema System with Dolby Atmos. I go over the specs, dimensions, what's in the box, and compare it to the 5.1 Reference Theater Pack. Check it out!
    Here's info about the system on Klipsch's website:

    Seems like the reference cinema pack would be a good upgrade from a budget sound bar or an HTIB.
    I would probably put both of these packages on my recommendations list if it were not for the subs. I suppose that could be upgraded in the future - which I would highly recommend.

    • @ealanosborne
      @ealanosborne  2 роки тому +1

      Definitely. Sub par subs usually find their way into packages like this. It’s a good start for those who are - like you said - coming from a sound bar or HTIB. But I’m all about upgrading subs eventually. 🤘

    • @TheFrugalAudiophile
      @TheFrugalAudiophile 2 роки тому +1

      @@ealanosborne I imagine it is difficult to pack in what I would call a “good” tsub and keep the price point where it is for these types of packages. I look for at least a 20 Hz response in order for a sub to be classified as “good.“ Those typically start at $500 and above. That will greatly increase the cost of these packages.
      I’m actually a big fan of the entry-level Jamo S series packages. When on sale you can get five decent speakers for $240 and then add in whatever sub you want. To me this is more appealing but I do see the and purpose of packages like the ones in your video. I will be interested to watch your review!

    Hi, your videos are awesome and very detail and it helped me and encourage us to buy the product confidently. few doubts on my side. Would you please let me know (Question1) if the cable/wire length ex: 10 ft provided in the box or should I buy extra new wire in case of shortage (my leaving room size is medium), Also (Q2) those wire/cable directly can be used to Denon AVR or need to buy any male/female pin to connect AVR.

    • @ealanosborne
      @ealanosborne  Рік тому +1

      You may want to buy speaker wire anyway, since the wire that comes in the box is 16 gauge, where I usually use 14 gauge (a little thicker) since it’s more durable. That’s your decision to make, though. 😁 And yes, you can connect the speaker wire directly to an AVR, but banana plugs are an option, if you so choose

    • @ealanosborne
      @ealanosborne  7 місяців тому

      Despite these being for DefTech speakers, a wall mount like this would work, since they can handle up to 10 pounds when mounted to a stud. And the satellite speakers in the Cinema system are 8.2 lbs. 👇👇

      To utilize all the speakers and upward-firing drivers, yes, you will need a 9 channel receiver. But if you already have a 7 channel receiver, it will still do great only having the front speakers doing upward firing audio until you decide to upgrade to a 9 channel. 👍

    Hellooooooo!! What AVR do you recommend for this unit? And also the Gauge of speaker wires as well.

    • @ealanosborne
      @ealanosborne  2 роки тому +2

      Hiiiiiii! Onkyo receivers from a few years back are perfect - TX-NR787, NR797, and the new NR7100 is about to be released. The older ones are discontinued, so you might have to snag one off eBay. And the new one is a bit pricey, cuz it’s…new. 😄
      I’d go with 16-gauge. I already had 14 gauge available in my home, so I used that, and it was a bit tough getting it into the provided holes. 16 gauge will be better suited for this style of speaker terminal. 🤘 I’ll go over more of this in the official review coming out soon!

      If you want to utilize all 9 channels, the Onkyo 7100 is great. Otherwise - if that’s out of your price range - a 7 channel AVR is still great, even though you can only utilize 2 out of the 4 upward firing speakers. Sony DH790 is always a good bargain, Onkyo 6100, Denon X1700 or X2700 are good too. 🎉

    I'm glad i stumbled upon this great channel, nice content, i'm a novice in this home theatre system stuff, but your easy step by step guide is quite helpful
    I'm looking for a budget first home theatre set up, this Klipsch Reference Cinema seems to be highly promising, i i'll go for it, i love warm sound signature, full sounding bass, deep bass, i'm great lover of music(mostly Edm, Rap & all genres) i'll mostly be using this set up for mainly music & other things, its currently $360 on Amazon, what budget dolby atmos AVR according to my description above do you think is the best i should go for?
    Thanks!

    • @ealanosborne
      @ealanosborne  7 місяців тому

      I understand utilizing ALL 9 channels of the Klipsch Cinema system isn’t cheap, since 9 channel AVRs aren’t the cheapest. But for the time being - since you’re first getting into home theater - you could also get a 5 or 7 channel AVR and just not use 2 or all 4 of the upward firing speakers in that system (until you maybe get a 9 channel AVR down the road).
      Onkyo is killing it right now with great sales on Crutchfield. I’d recommend the brand new Onkyo TX-SR3100 for 5 channels, TX-NR5100 or 6100 for 7 channels, or perhaps even the TX-NR7100 if you want all 9 channels accounted for already, depending on your budget. 🙌🎉

    You’re so quick man! Now I’m looking forward to your review of this pack, can you also compare it to the Reference Dolby Atmos 5.0.2 Surround System. They’re similar in price..will I be better off getting the mentioned system paired with a Klipsch SW12 Sub with a 7.2 receiver or this with a 9.2 receiver?

      I went with the 5.0.2 system then got two 12 inch subs. Total came out to just over 1k with sale prices. I'm guessing the bigger system will be much better for larger rooms. Obviously. But for medium to small rooms it might be a bit closer.
      I'm wondering how well the two extra atmos speakers perform. Dont know if its going to make a huge difference.

    What would you say the best crossover settings for each speaker would be?

    • @ealanosborne
      @ealanosborne  Рік тому

      The satellites’ frequency response dips down to 90 Hz, according to the spec sheet. Rule of thumb is to set the crossover 10-20 Hz above that. The center speaker dips down to 80 Hz. So 100 Hz might be the sweet spot for the whole system. Although the height speaker response isn’t specifically listed, so a system-wide crossover of 120 Hz might even be better. It’s been awhile since I’ve had that system, so I’m just using my best judgement here. 😄🤘

      Onkyo receivers in particular have "Klipsch Optimize Mode" which is tuned specifically for Klipsch speakers. The TX-NR7100 is a 9.2 channel AVR, which will utilize all the speakers in this system. But it is expensive, yes. The TX-NR6100 is 7.2 channel and less expensive, but you'll only be able to utilize 2 out of the 4 upward firing height speakers. Which might still be fine in your listening space. 👍
