In the 1970s long before the last refurbishment of Autopia my mom went with me on the ride and right in the middle of the ride a cast member hopped into our car and made us feel out of the car because it was on fire! We were able to get a different car and do the whole ride over again.
Actually, the original Autopia was presented by Richfield from 1955 until around 1970. Then for many years it didnt have a sponsor, that is until the ride shut down in 1999 for a major refurb. When it reopened in 2000 it was presented by Chevron, and would be until 2012, and since just last year 2016 Honda has been the sponsor. So yeah when this was filmed the ride didn't have any sponsor.
there is ONE of these cars still at disneyland and can be sat in. go to Goofy kitchen in Downtown Disney, in the lobby. have fun, i did.
This was 1 hour before Disneyland officially opens to the public and not all attractions were operating at that time of the day!

Autopia is one of my favorite Rides/Attractions at Disneyland!
It be very cool if all the Autopia cars convert to electric cars!
It is awesome you were in an orange car. I have an orange one and am currently building a frame / engine to drive it.
