Memories... I remember when my mom would take us a lot when my sister and I were kids. We always had a blast. Can’t wait for the day when I get to take my son. I know it’s not the same as when I was a kid growing up but Disney is still fun.
I love the Disneyland Monorail too. When I rode on that for the first time, I was super thrilled and I was like, "Wow, I can't believe I'm doing this in person too!"
I was born in 1990 and seeing this reminded me of my first trip to D-land circa 96/97, before the days of DCA and Dwtn Disney. I remember vividly the massive parking lot which took us forever to get from the car to just the front entrance. I'd say the multistory parking structure and trams are truly an improvement. I've been to Disneyland 7 times from 1999-2009 and I haven't gone since, so I think it's time for me to end my longest Disney drought ever.
So unreal to see the Skyway and People Movers still in operation in this video I so miss them today. At least the subs came back as a re-themed Finding Nemo.
Originally was Westcot and Disneyland center containing a shopping center built around a lake and hotels around the Disneyland hotel sadly never happened because of residents complaining
thats so cool, i freakin love disneyland. its amazing how much its changed, i was born in 94 so i never got so see any of the stuff when it was still like that
I was abt to turn five when this video was recorded. It brings back a lot of great memories of going to the park with my dad and brother. thanks for sharing.
Very cool video! I was there that year during the 35th anniversary celebration! I was 4 then, now 28! I was there this last February with my family & it brings back so many memories! Disneyland has changed a lot since then, such as California Adventure now taking over the original parking lot & the redesigned Tomorrowland & Autopia.
Thank you for your comment! Walt Disney said I quote “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.”
So unreal to look back on. I was only in grade school last I recall seeing the old parking lot occupying where it would later become a walking area to enter either Downtown Disney or DCA.
I'm so sorry to hear that, everybody should go to Disneyland at least once, more if possible! Thanks for your comment and I hope you make it to Disneyland!
Gotta love John Hench. I agree with him in the long run, but he probably would've liked DCA at least for several years including the late 2000s up until 2018 when Marvel and Pixar began to invade. DCA's problem at first wasn't the California theme at all, but the execution of it. I'd rather have a parking lot back than DCA with Marvel and Pixar invading.
Lots of changes over the years! I haven’t been to Disneyland in just over 10 years already. For a while I wasn’t interested in going back, but it looks like I’ve changed my mind on that! But I realize it ain’t gonna happen soon!
It's been a while since I've watched these type of videos. But I do have to say. I missed it so much, I am now running some research to see the differences between then and now. I am working on getting tickets to go and visit a the "old" shutdown places. I am invested to see if that McDonald's is still open right across from Disney.
i just want to jump into my computer and be there! i lived through all the changes that happened since this video was recorded, and i would put everything back the way it was if i could. DCA and downtown disney don't excite me,the grand californian is a place i'll never be able to afford to stay, and the parking structures are an eyesore. i used to ride my bike to disneyland and loved crossing the 100 acre parking lot to the main entrance. and don't get me started on how tomorrowland looks now compared to then! change is not always for the better.
@MrMastervideoboy Calm down now, you have just time traveled to the past of the year 1990. Don't Panic, you are now back into the future, Welcome Home Space Ranger!
omg i wish i knew what day this was made one... cause my birthday is september 11th 1990!!!!!!!!!!!!! that would be so cool if it was made on the day i was born!!!!
Big Deal I was in Tokyo Disneyland, with my girlfriend as we, and 5 other families were refused to most of the rides as I complaint via email, and told them the PARK SUCKS!!
In Disneyland, the Motor Boat Cruise opened in 1957 on the border of Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. The waterways of the Motor Boat Cruise shared space with other attractions. That is from yesterland on the web. Just go on the UA-cam search box and put in... Disneyland 1990 Trip If you look at my Disneyland 1990 Trip by MrDisneyFanman you can see the boats at the 2:39:13 seconds into the video and at 2:54:56 seconds into the video, you can see the boats are behind behind the Submarines!
I have been to Disneyland 3 times-- Aug. 1958, Aug. 1961, and Dec. 1970 between Christmas and New Years with my now wife(married 5/22/71). Have never been to Walt Disney World.
I know I'm beating a dead horse when I say this but... BRING THE PEOPLEMOVER BACK!!! Also, put the Rocket Jets back where they were! The observatron is a paperweight, and the Astrojets cause unbelievable congestion!
Wow my parents could've just had fun in Disneyland in 1990 but too bad they're poor while living in San Francisco for about 2 years when they married and left Nicaragua in 1988 because of bad economy and drug war related too but then in 1993 they went to Disneyland when my older brother was about 3 during summer. I wish I could be back in time too.
Whoa. The old/original parking lot.
Everything is different know. Hand stamping still existed. My grandpa btw is one of the people who helped construct the monorail cement.

+PinBallReviewer I miss those rides too!
Thanks for your comment!
No one would have thought the parking lot would end up being a awesome new park
Dang, Disneyland back then seemed so spacious, now with DCA and Downtown Disney, it looks so... cramped.
Originally was Westcot and Disneyland center containing a shopping center built around a lake and hotels around the Disneyland hotel sadly never happened because of residents complaining
I can remember my first time at Disneyland in the 70s had the booklets tickets ...seeing this video brings back alot of good memories.

Thank you morred19866!
Yes a lot has changed since 1990 a whole lot!
So unreal to look back on. I was only in grade school last I recall seeing the old parking lot occupying where it would later become a walking area to enter either Downtown Disney or DCA.
I love watching this. I note that at 1:55, there is actually a traffic signal mounted on the monorail support column.
Michael Ejercito what? Are you sure it's not just the street signal
@@AlexMR it is a street signal as you say
I was 11, and I'm very glad I got to enjoy Disneyland many times in the 80s and 90s thee best era for Disneyland
I'm so sorry to hear that, everybody should go to Disneyland at least once, more if possible!
Thanks for your comment and I hope you make it to Disneyland!
That was really great. Never been and always wondered. Thanks for posting.
The "voice" of the Monorail was Mark Denis who was a traffic reporter for L.A. radio station KFI in the '80s and '90s.
There was the Disneyland picnic pavilion. You used to be able to pack your own lunch cooler and take it to the park.
"I liked it better when it was a parking lot." John Hench.

I think westcot should've been built instead of DCA plus it was Epcot but better Epcot was originally a experimental city
I agree with you and I think she looked awesome to me in her Monorail uniform!
I miss the PeopleMover. :(
Very nice quality video...especially from 1990. That was HIGH END equipment you had back then
great footage
Back when Disneyland was actually affordable.
ah! the good old days!!!
Someone please take me back to this year God I miss it so much the memories of traveling to Orlando Disney and all
Your right, you can see them!
Good job RevN3, I missed seeing that myself and I was there!
Wow very neat video of the old Monorail!
The Disneyland sign on Harbor Dr, that shows up at 0:55 was almost a year old, having replaced the original, installed in the 50's.
The building @ 2:59 is the back of Pirates show building before Indiana Jones went in, then that's when they rerouted the monorail track :)
Thanks for sharing. Great video.
Lots of changes over the years! I haven’t been to Disneyland in just over 10 years already. For a while I wasn’t interested in going back, but it looks like I’ve changed my mind on that! But I realize it ain’t gonna happen soon!
Thanks for putting this up. I miss that old entrance with the covered mall walkway that had the ads and stuff on them.
Thanks for cool comment!
always wanted to work on the monorail ride

So miss it back then.
back then people were carrying those big old cameras and i got to see what disneyland was like without the california adventure park its different!
Now this was a good video.
There’s a site where Disney’s California adventure is John located on the right opposite Disneyland
The parking lot is now the little block to get to Disneyland and California Adventure
At 5:25 and forward it made me laugh! the cars look like there moving slow motion and in a traffic jam. Oh you Cali freeways!
amazing...
Its good ride at disneyland back to hotel
My mom always joked that the parking lot was bigger than the park :]
Thank you, I'm glad you like it!
Thank you and your welcome!
mark v monorail
This makes me feel old
If you mean the Skyway buckets, yes they did get rid them like in Disney World!
so miss it back then
so neat
Thanks!
ah! the good old days
@12161euclid
That nice to know.
I'm alway interested what People were doing at Disneyland the year I filmed!

wonder if the driver got sick of hearing the sound system..
So odd now seeing Cars parked in front of the park.. but that is actually how I best remember it..pre CALIFORNIAland
I miss it back then ..
So do I!

I always thought it would be neat to drive the Monorail!
Your right about that!
omg i wish i knew what day this was made one... cause my birthday is september 11th 1990!!!!!!!!!!!!! that would be so cool if it was made on the day i was born!!!!
woohoo i was in Disneyland in 1994

@760paradisepier I have more 1990's videos on my channel of Disneyland!
Enjoy the rides!
omg DCA is not there that is so cool
No it was under construction back then it opened 11 years later in 2001

It takes you to the hotel.
@victorbrunswick Thanks for the info thats very interesting to know!

Thanks for your comment, If you can find Doctor Who ask to take you to visit Disneyland Sept - 1990 and you will love it, bye for now!

it caught fire like twice, right?
Never been on
5:25 on that ride I didn’t even know how to drive
@ThatEccentricguy Big enough for Disney's California Adventure Park, maybe she's right!
The driver gal is like, "We get paid for doin' this...."
I was born in September 1990 ☺️
