I personally love playing the Scientist. I understand it's not everybody's first pick, but he really has some dope cards. He can remotely research intruder weaknesses, activate emergency Airlock, send a signal and lots of other stuff that you would otherwise need to travel long distance (and most likely get severely injured along the way) to reach, as long as the room is not malfunctioned. Another great perk about remote actions is that you can activate a computer room action that has a fire token and not get a light wound at the end of the player's turn. So, yeah, it's an acquired taste to play this character, but if you sit down and play as intended instead of running around, I'd say you have a pretty solid chance of getting out of there alive.

Pilot has grown to be my favorite character. It's one of the best for tempo. A lot of her cards let you use rooms at 0 cost, and it is much much more valuable than you might think. Basic repair is also kinda nice. Private key to the pods is always good. It's a jack of all trades that can adapt to any situation.
Sure, scout is stealthier but boring, and solider has unbeatable aggro, but when you need to adapt, pilot is the way to go.
Only big drawback, find a better weapon (or extended clip) asap, and/or means to evade

I feel like those characters were basically ranked for fighting skills. I don't have ranking, but I would like to say that the non-combat characters shouldn't be disregarded. I have found someone like the pilot to be really effective once they pick up speed. In the early game you just stick to some heavy-hitter as by that point everybody is cooperating anyways. In the endgame you hopefully have enough items to be somewhat independent, and it's nice to have a character that actually gets something done on the ship.

The most important thing: what objectives did you get. Different characters are good fór different jobs

Accurate list. I consider soldier, scout and captain all mostly equal "top tier" with scout a little ahead. Scout is the strongest but has meh quest items - the motion scanner is great for going to sleep or escape podding, but most of the time it's just sitting there, taking up your hand slot. Soldier with both quest items activated is #1 and works well with researches, unlike Cap who is the only one who doesn't benefit from energy weapon weakness. Captain is the best at helping and also killing your crewmates, and will always be able to run away unless you screw up badly. Motivates can add full turns and can allow him to do things like Search slightly more with luck or draw your suppressive, but this is balanced out by Reload being kinda crap.
Suppressive Fire is so good that it automatically makes the characters that don't have it lower tier. It's a bit of a bad design that the characters best at fighting are also the best at running away.
I love Scientist thematically but he's a support character that is dependent on his teammates, and it just doesn't work well in a semi-coop game. If your team doesn't repair Fire Control Center, his main intranet gimmick isn't that powerful or great unless you have the optional expansion room Alarm Room.

In my opinion (and from my group's experience) I'd place Mechanic at 6, he's the least independent character and most of the time doomed unless accompanied by a heavy hitter. Between Pilot and Scientist it basically comes down to what your objective is. I agree with the top 3, Scout is definitely my favorite. We had one game in which three of us ended up playing co-op in late game - Scout, Soldier and Captain. Scout was the pathfinder to minimize encounters, Soldier did most of the killing and Captain (who was in a really poor shape) gave us a lot of extra actions with Motivation and Order cards. We basically steamrolled through the ship.

Here is the thing, Scout playstyle doesn't benefit much on a group play. She's really good for whenever you want to rush your objective and escape-pod off, mainly when you don't care about anyone else.
This actually can make you watch, sometimes, up to 6 rounds of game that you don't have nothing to do. Because you already escaped.
Scientists and Mechanics, on the other hand offer a much appreciated support. Mechanic is such a good character to have around that I would rank him the highest. If you maybe don't want to play with him, that's okay, but there's no one better to have around as him. Patting out fire, repairing at 0 cost, the ship itself simply get easier.
Scientists is other amazing friend if you like playing for the hunt and the thrill of the combat. They don't even need to be the ones within the lab to do all the work. They can do their things and simultaneously help around the ship. They can use FCS and LABs from anywhere, man. That's broken
Now, wanna hear something interesting? Both Soldier and Scout (and Captain) repair the ship at 2 Cost, and that's why you think the computers and room actions are useless. You're just running around looting anything not nailed, burning like a torch, while the ship goes down. It doesn't not to be that way.
Now, wanna know wich character functions the best for any team ? The Pilot. One of my favorites. She Repaira at 1 Cost, and can do Computer Rooms and No-PC Rooms with 0 cost. Check coordinates from anywhere and most powerful: she can skip the enemies entire turn without doing any harm to your team if you know what you're doing. She's amazing.
Anyway, my personal ranking - based not only on what I think it's fun, but what I want on my team.

interesting opinions! from my experience, here is my ranking:
    1. Mechanic - excels in computers, repairs, mobility and crafting tasers with trait
    2. Captain - great for "make sure player x" dies objectives, and with trait can do very well in the first couple fights
    3. Scientist - very weak weapon, but with his quest items and a computer the scientist can do a whole lot from just one room
    4. Soldier - combat is great until you realize that being bad at everything else doesn't justify good damage
    5. Scout - mediocre weapon, bad repairs and no room interaction cards make the scout more suited for aftermath than nemesis
    6. Pilot - no remarkable traits, being able to do well in the cockpit is nice but thats one room and setting coordinates is only 1/5th of the game

My ranking of best to worst:

    6. Scientist
    7. Pilot

Imo Scientist should be 1, yes it has the worst starting weapon but being able to use any system from any computer and then the quest being able to access any room from any where even if its broken is just too good. you can pretty much instakill players and queens with the airlock.

How do you tank the Medic? I'm struggling a bit how het Needle gun works and how it makes the Intruders retreat to another Room.

use action and ammo from the needle gub, If you hit with it the intruder runs. The event card will tell you which corridor.

    For me it's:
    1. Scout
    2. Soldier
    3. Mechanic
    4. Captain
    5. Scientist
    6. Pilot
The Mechanic can be a great character for a variety missions either coop or semi coop. Scientist is the one to go if you have to discover weaknesses. Are you planning to rank the other chars too?

      @redbeansdice6151  2 роки тому

Wow! Really good ranking and 100% agree with the scientist. If on the Scientists first turn you could search and find an amazing energy weapon, youd have the perfect character! 🤣 I intend to rank the aftermath characters but I haven't played with all of them yet! Thx for checking out the video and the awesome comment Das Rorschach-Experiment!🤘😁

When I first got wave 1 played like 15 games in two months. So many things delivered at that time that when wave two came out I never got to use any of it. So I couldn't rank the expansion characters either

I’ve found that the Mechanic’s ability to quickly craft the flamethrower is pretty useful, as is the ability to move through the technical passages.

Played it with 6 players. Works fine, but we played like 5 hours.

    • @andriybasyuk5674
      @andriybasyuk5674 Рік тому +1

Yeah its definitely possible. Ive done it before. It does add a lot of time though. I thibj 4-5 players is the sweet spot for nemesis. If yoy play 6 Just add an additional token to the bag and you're Gucci. The only downside is that in semi coop you're not gonna get an objective to kill player 6. The downside can be somewhat diminished if you're assigned random player numbers. Or you can even print your own "player 6 must die" objective.
